I will be the first person to defend Kato's writing to the death, but if there is one flaw I do think she has. It's that she has shoved Izumo into a corner a lot and she hasn't done anything big since the Illuminati arc. Maybe it's a bit more obvious to me since I am such a huge fan of Izumo, but it's kind of sad that nearly every character has had more time and space than she has.
Konekomaru, and even Paku has had more of a influence directly on the plot as of late outside of some pushing Shiemi towards romance. It's not the worse, but it's disappointing after what a ride her arc was. She didn't even really fight during the last big battle with Satan before things went nuts. It's just been side stuff.
Izumo isn't the only one, Shiemi got a bit of this too for a couple of years. It's not the worst writing ever, and I can see where Kato is going with things and why they were sidelined (the story needed to focus on the brothers after all). I think it just stands out to me since Izumo's literally hasn't been involved in the direct action since the Illuminati arc. Shiemi at least got to fight her fears in the form of Amaimon.
That isn't to say fighting is the only thing that can make a character important. it just kinda feels like compared to the others Izumo's been in the corner than the actual plot. It's still a great manga, I think it's one of the best written series out there and I'll fight for that. Kato's writing is amazing and this series means a lot to me.
Kinda just sad Izumo's been kind of shoved off.

Second part to this is I am an idiot, and if I had waited five minutes I could have bought them from amiami. Regardless, I'm getting my dumb keychains and everything will work out.

What kind of new Keychains have been released for aoex?
Yes! They're being sold on the Kadokawa website right now. There's also going to be cafe event that will sell items, and a pop up shop later this month. Where they'll be sold I'm not totally sure. Stuff like that tends to pop up on amiami which does ship to other countries. That also currently has some stuff that I've preordered.
I just really want the keychains. They're super cute.
Edit: whoops forgot to answer what they are. The ones I'm looking at are kind of like a old fashioned hotel key tag with each of the main characters. The other one I want is little pixel art of the mc's that are super cute.

Soji wasn't a Illuminati spy? They explain who and what he is within the story with no mystery to it. It's stated that he's the head of the Inami family. In fact the chief priest which was the other half of the clan that took care of the cursed stone. The branch that the Kamiki family came from originally.
The reason why he didn't want to meet Izumo and Tsukumo was because he didn't care. They were illegitimate. Which means the dude had a wife. Tamamo was basically his mistress and was just more into that than anything else. Who herself was either to naive to understand, or was in denial thinking maybe one day things would change.
The Illuminati approached them under a different name as a way to get more tourists and thus more money. They didn't use Illuminati with the adults because that would be really weird. Soji was basically in charge of this stuff since the Inami family clearly handled this stuff in town.
He didn't want to meet his kids because he was an asshole. To him Tamamo was nothing more than his mistress. His kids were just either accidents. And nothing for him to worry about in the end. That's why he says this to Tamamo.
He's just a shitty person and a shitty dad. There was no connection tot he Illuminati outside of a business venture they used to get into the town. There's like nothing to even remotely hint at him being a spy? I'm confused where you even like got that when the series, especially the manga explains everything about Izumo's family.
Izumo's dad
Tamamo had an on-again off-again relationship with the girls' father. He obviously worked as a spy for the Illuminati and wanted the priestess to have children, and his mission was to sleep with her. The Illuminati needed more test subjects, beyond mom. That's why the guy didn't want to meet his kids, he didn't want to care about them. He already knew their fate and didn't want the guilt or connection.
Luckily, Mephisto had made a connection with Maria Yoshida, which got Kamiki's baby sister, Tsukumo adopted by the CEO of the Takara Corporation, a computer entertainment firm owned by none other than Mephisto Pheles.

I am super behind on watching the third season, but I found out they changed how Izumo attacked the Illuminati guards and scientists. And I am so disappointed. That ear stab to the scientist deserved to be animated!!
Izumo is a feral and violent gal!! To have this be switched to a general stab to the arm or whatever is just so sad.

Blue Exorcist Season 3 - Episode 4
This episode was so freaking good. It had everything I wanted with the big reveal. Renzo getting his time to shine is feeling so good. This is honestly the part that got me interested in his character and wanting to see where he goes. He's such a cheeky little brat. I love how it went down too with everything.
Carrying Izumo on one arm is probably my favorite thing. The dork acts like he's weak, but here he is. Able to pick up a girl like she's nothing and run around with her. Add in how Izumo kept holding on to his head was adorable.
And Lucifer!! He was so freaking awesome! And his voice was absolutely perfect too. I adore how emotionless he sounded. Exactly how he's supposed to be. The differences between him and Mephisto's VA and the whole scene there was so much fun.
Ooooh man next week looks like it's going to start off with them getting to Izumo's home town. Can't wait for the rest, and I am super curious who's going to be playing her mother still. Can't wait, it's going to be so much fun.

I haven't talked about Bondrewd in a hot minute because I've been distracted, and that's a problem. Honestly if there is one major pet peeve I've come across with this fandom is the constant picking apart of his character to make him straight evil. Which is a shame considering how much the creator builds him up to be not that at all.
What makes Bondrewd such a fantastic character that makes me go feral is that his selflessness is written to be horrifying. He's sacrficied himself so he's nothing more than a whistle and a soul infecting others. The level he lives at is a isolated dead winter, where the only living things are in the water bellow him. The man cares for the people around him, but he uses them. He loves the children he takes in, but that doesn't stop him from progressing.
And that is what makes him so freaking scary. He can love and care, but he doesn't think twice about using people. In fact he figured out a way to make love happen, for his own benefit! And it's real actual love, not fake or empty. He's not crazy, if he was nothing would work. All to make the abyss easier to travel.
The ends justify the means to the extreme is what Bondrwed is. And it's clear he was like this before he started exploring the abyss with his criminal records. And out of anyone we've seen so far he's probably the only person who truly ever respects the abyss as much as one should.
To say he has zero emotions, or doesn't actually love the children just takes that that depth away. I really don't get why people struggle with this aspect of Bondrewd. It's what makes him such an amazing character.
