like dark cacao would suggest a route and peppermint fudge would be the first to voice any problems he noticed which helped fuel a better plan vs just blindly following dark cacaos orders .

that necessary balance of wanting to follow your king but also wanting whays best for your people. dark cacao would love a circle of people who challenge his ideas to make them better (but then eventually he becomes hostile to this idea when dark choco gets banished and affogato keeps buttering him up . leads to him starting to see anybody voicing disagreement as an enemy) . but bc peppermint fudge was already in his inner circle at this point it was hard to push him and his ideas away (much to affogatos annoyance- but hey peppermint fudge gets banned eventually so )

++ i think shadow milk starts out just by being intrigued at this person whos Not a faerie like its rare and new and exciting and finding out hes a knight fuels this idea of seeing how far his loyalties go and seeing how far he can push peppermint fudge . like he starts out seeing peppermint fudge as a fun plaything to mess with but i think he gets charmed at the goodness peppermint fudge still strives for . like theres something cute about a guy whos been beaten down and worn out for years that still tells you to keep believing and that theres hope . so eventually it grows from "its fun to try and push him around" to "i wanna see if hed even try to attatch his goodness to someone whos not deserving" aka him aka evil and peppermint fudge will always do that again and again . and then shadow milk eventually recognizes ohhh no . i guess im in love and it goes feom there

i think peppermint fudge like where he was in general was like . pseudo-guard pseudo-advisor he mostly liked running around and doing whatever that dark cacao needed but sometimes dark cacao just needed him to stay put

my lord ive decided that im going to take up training with the bow!! i feel like in the very beginnings of pitayasugar powdered sugar was always like very aware of how much space pitaya liked crowding in between the two and would always try to step away but like after 500 years of trying to back up you start realizing that the dragon isn't going to let you be out of arms length
