there is something so darkly comical about tumblr potentially outliving twitter
tumblr, which is held together with duct tape and madness, run by three raccoons in blood stained Yahoo! hats and a handful of crabs, its only discernible source of income the sale of shoelaces from an inside joke so inside no one knows the original source anymore and fake blue checkmarks... that website still lives on
truly the cockroach of social media and I love it for that

Litha Spell: Jam to attract abundance and prosperity
Hello there, Aurélie, your fellow kitchen witch here! Summer solstice and Litha are around the corner and I though I'll give you a simple spell to attract abundance and prosperity.
Tumblr media
In nature, summer is the time for abundance, especially for small fruits like berries. Summer solstice is the longest day of the year and it is the perfect day to perform and abundance spell. In my practice, I use Jams to attract things I want in my life. Their sweetness and flavours makes them perfect to attract abundance, wealth, love, joy. Today we are focusing on attracting abundance and prosperity.
In this jam I am using:
Blueberries: to attract prosperity
Blackberries: to attract prosperity and abundance
Raspberries: for strength and courage (I'll need it to live an abundance and prosperous life)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jam Ingredients:
1kg (or 2 pounds) of a mix of those berries
1kg (or 2 pounds) of sugar
Juice of 1 lemon
Recipe:
Rince your fruits thoroughly.
Turn the oven to 130ºC / 260ºF and let your jars and lids sterilize while you are making your jam.
In a big pot, cook your fruits with half of a glass of water for 10 minutes. They should break and release their juices. You can help them buy using a potato masher.
Strain your fruits and collect the juices.
Using the same big pot, add the juice, the lemon juice and the sugar. Cook for about 20 minutes at a good simmering stage (Be careful, it can overflow easily if the fire is too strong)
Remove the foam on the top with a big flat spoon. The foam doesn't alter the taste, it makes the jam cloudy.
Remove the jars from the oven and fill them with the jam. Using a fennel really helps. Put the lid on right away. You should work with everything hot so it's sterilized and your jam will not spoil later.
Pro tip: right after closing your jars, turn them upside down. If you are hearing a faint "pshiiiit" sound, that means they are not sealed and they will spoil later. In this case, remove the jam, rinse the jar and do this again. It always happen to me so I sterilize more jars than I need
Label your jams with what's inside and the date. They will be good for at least a year!

Magical intention.
Kitchen witchcraft is not following a recipe and call it a day! You need to do the work, you need to infuse the jam with your intention. Here are a few ideas on how to add intention to your jams:
Ground yourself.
Cleanse and clean your space before starting.
Put some special clothes on.
Chant incantation, dance, put so inspiring music on.
Light candles (be careful of fire hazard).
Use crystals (DO NOT PUT CRYSTALS IN YOUR JARS OR COOK WITH THEM).
Meditate on your fruits and visualize what you want to attract (here it's prosperity).
Pimp your jars: draw signals, use green ribbons, decorate them.
If you are working with deities, ask them to bless your jars.
Cook them during Litha: the energies are the best for prosperity spells.
Also: they make the best gifts for Yule. They will bring you light and abundance during the darkest day of the year when food is scarce. I hope you'll like this recipe. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out! I'll be happy to help!

For anyone who doesn't know what's going on in Canada right now (which, let's be real, is probably everyone who's not in Canada):
This week, a mass grave was discovered at a former Indian Residential School, in Kamloops, BC. The grave contained the bodies of 215 Indigenous children.
For people outside of North America, residential schools were places that Indigenous children were sent to, to have their language and culture stripped away from them. They were literally stolen from their families, and scattered across Canada, to ensure that they would be surrounded by children who didn't speak their language. They were given Christian names and forced to speak English. They were horrendously abused, and the survivors have been traumatized.
Hundreds of children never returned. The assumption has always been that they died. This has now been confirmed.
The school in Kamloops closed in 1978. They are now trying to identify bodies to inform family members. The last residential school closed in the 1990s. There is growing demand to search all of them, but the government hasn't responded to that, as of yet. Ottawa JUST gave in to pressure to fly the Canada flag at half mast. They weren't even going to do that.
This is the reality if anti-Indigenous racism in Canada. The residential schools may be closed, but that hasn't stopped the abduction of Indigenous children, let alone the hundreds of missing and murdered Indigenous women.

Hey I saw your response to a different anon about tarot and I just wanted to say that many many many Romani who actually grew up with the traditions agree that white people shouldn't be using tarot. The history of tarot was indeed started as playing cards but Roma are the only ones who divined from it. There is still much descrimination today for doing traditional practices and seeing white girls living their dream doing tarot is extremely disrespectful. Seeing you call it racist for someone to call out CA was absolutely revolting. Please do not spread the hateful misinformation you are. Please listen to real Roma
Alright, I'm breaking character for this one because it involves me personally.
Again, as far as I know, saying tarot is endemic to romani culture is akin to saying moneylending is endemic to jewish culture.
As far as I am aware, the roma are not the only people to divine with tarot cards, and they did not invent the practice.
And again, the author of this blog is ethnically Romani. Although I am fairly isolated from the culture, I have access to people who aren’t. When I asked my culturally romani family members about this, they said they had never heard of this concept.
Now, that doesn’t inherently mean I am correct. I am completely open to the fact that I may be wrong about this. However, it does mean that I am going to have to ask for proof beyond “I saw some people say this somewhere“ because as far as I know, the earliest citation for romani people using tarot for divination people is from Elphias Levi’s Key of Mysteries (1861), and the earliest citation for divinatory tarot as we know it was from by Jean-Baptiste Alliette in approximately 1780, when he and Antoine Court published a guide for performing cartomancy with the Tarot of Marseilles.
Additionally, philosopher and tarot historian Michael Dummett noted, in his book The Game of Tarot. "it was only in the 1780s, when the practice of fortune-telling with regular playing cards had been well established for at least two decades, that anyone began to use the tarot pack for cartomancy.”
So, If you have a primary source on tarot being used for divination by romani people prior to 1780, I’ll have to reconsider.

Don’t use a gas oven to heat your home or run your car in the garage
Carbon monoxide kills you so quick. Please all do not do this.
Drip both hot and cold on all faucets + open the cupboards that house the pipes because if you don’t your pipes will burst and you’ll have massive flooding.
