Looking to Get More Customer Referrals for Your Auto Service Shop? Here's How
Sure it's great when customers are referred to your auto repair business. But how do you get more of them? When you create a 'Referral Culture' in your shop, you will start to get more referrals.
Just like anything else you want to accomplish in your auto repair shop, you have to 'set the pace' and let everyone know what's expected. That means you really have to create a culture. That is, a 'Referral Culture'.
Be Sure Employees Understand:
Creating the culture is going to start from the top, but that will also mean that all employees understand the goal. Every employee in your auto service shop should understand the importance of customer referrals and how they can help.
You should also consider that if you don't 'track and count', typically things don't get done. Therefore, a great strategy would be to implement a system where you track employee referrals each month.
Tied to your 'referral tracking' should be rewards for employees. Make your employee rewards something that they want. It shouldn't be tied to your business (like time off or monetary incentives). Using actual gifts or gift cards means that they will all work harder to achieve the expected results.
Customer Education and Training:
Customers don't refer their friends, family and associates to you because they don't really know you expect it. Besides, they are not trained sales people. They don't have the tools needed to send you referrals.
That means you have to start with separate cards. You need 'Customer Referral Cards'. They should be provided to each customer (multiple cards) with a brief explanation. Be sure to include a spot on the card where a customer can fill in his or her name and phone number. That way, you will know who sent you the referral.
