Mountain Cabin in the Appalachian Mountains
Tumblr media
Mountain Cabin
Mountain Cabin in the Appalachian Mountain range which runs south to north in the USA ending roughly 100km into Canada. The Appalachian Mountains served as a natural barrier to east/west travel in the northeast section of North America before modern rail and road construction techniques were developed. They were as tall as the Alps 280 million years ago but natural erosion over time has shaped them into a beautiful range of mountains with a vast range of flora and fauna. A bit of an ecological paradise. 40 x 30cm Estuary Dreaming Visit My Blog Read the full article

Bushfire or Mist?
Tumblr media
Bushfire or Mist?
Wisps of mist or smoke weave through the trees in Bushfire or Mist Bushfires in Australia are a constant threat. Tall timbers with a dry understorey are the ideal conditions for a bushfire to run through Australian forestry. This is not always a bad thing as the Australian bush needs extreme heat to germinate new growth from the seeds that have been dropped over time. In fact, there are deliberate bushfires lit by authorities (controlled burns) to protect property. Sadly, there are also firebugs (arsonists) who light fires in extreme conditions with the express intent of causing damage and loss. Sometimes of life. These people even have the audacity to "help" fire services with the fire. I suppose they get a perverse kick from it.
