we first meet him at the forbidden zone, the critters are found there so there’s a non-zero chance that he stumbled upon the critters

so uh i think i can kinda piece together what happened now :

dr ratio learns of ruan mei’s research and meets the little critters in the seclusion zone

they won’t leave him alone, reminding him of a certain someone

he messages aventurine a picture and asks him if he’d like one (he’s very tsundere about it ofc)

aventurine obviously says yes

he trips over one of them a few weeks later

he took one look at the critters and thought to himself “hm aventurine would like this”, like he was probably reminded of aven when he saw the critters which is a whole other can of beans. he’s down so bad i swearrrr like aventurine isn’t even there and he’s thinking about him 💀💀

Some people have theorized that Aventurine might join the Astral Express by the end of the penacony story, and honestly I don't personally think its going to happen because I doubt the main crew will be added to as the game goes on, but Oh My God do I wish it was true lol. Like 1) im honestly just biased because of how much i love aventurine, but also 2) I really think joining the Astral Express and getting away from the IPC would be really good for him. He wants freedom and I think the freedom the express would give him would be perfect, along with the much needed found family he would get out of it. Like? The image of him hanging out with the crew and genuinely getting closer to them is? So good?? Also he and Ratio would probably still run into each other a lot which I think they both do secretly want (this got away from me, I just want him on our team so much and to see him get treated like a person and not an asset for once lmao) And its not like theres no basis at all, since he expressed his desire to leave the ipc as well as the fact that his cornerstone is smashed now

I don't have much hope either, but I would love that! I mean, Aventurine is my absolute hsr fave, so to have him become part of the main crew would be beyond amazing! And as you said, I think it would be good for him too, and I would love to see him interact with the rest of the express. Aventurine definitely deserves to be part of a family again. And the fact that he would often run into Ratio sure is an extra nice added bonus (Perhaps Ratio would also plan his travels depending on where is he most likely to cross paths with Aventurine, although he wouldn't admit it out loud)
