Ross may be daddy, but everyone can use a mother’s love. Maybe Audrey is the person Ophelia Winters needs in order to get back on track.

@oftriumphs
The last time Audrey had seen a circus-related performance was three years ago, when the Cirque had been in town and her father had bought tickets for them to see it. It was an unforgettable experience, seeing such talent up on stage. Now, as she watched a few performers illuminating the stage, she couldn’t help but be awestruck at what was happening. As she reached for the glass on the bar table, she ended up grabbing someone’s sleeve. She quickly pulled back and turned to the person she had accidentally mistaken for her glass.
“Oh gosh, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to grab you,” she said with a shake of her head. “I was reaching for my glass,” she added with a chuckle. “I should probably stop reaching for it at this point.”

kaiowns:
  @audreyhvstings
  He’d been filled in about the rumors surrounding the assistant to his new manager. Even whispers, some of them too wild to believe, but they’d all prepared him for the blonde head bobbing his way, somehow floating under the radar from Ross. Kai had known better than to stick around, anyway. This wasn’t a working night, this was a night for play, and play he was.
  “I know you,” Kai smiled with a friendly expression, extending his hand to shake hers and allowing that brilliant Irish charming accent do the work for him. “You’re Miss Audrey Hastings, and I have a feelin’ I’m ‘bout to get a bit of a scoldin’. I swear, it’s only my third, I’m slowin’ down now. Changed man, the noise, you know?”
Tumblr media
With every new talent, Audrey made an effort to get to know them before she actually met them. That task included searching for records, news and info of any sort. Based on her research on Kai, she couldn’t help but feel skeptical about Harwell’s choices. She never understood why or how Kai Owens got Ross to sign him. He had to be really talented or had really good potential if that was the case.
"Yes, we’ve spoken once or twice before,” she replied, taking his hand and shaking it. “You’re the new talent. The... curiosity Ross mentioned,” she added with a chuckle. She turned to the bartender and murmured a drink order before turning back to the man. “Actually, you’re in luck, Kai. I’m not supposed to be working technically. Although, for your sake, I encourage the slowing down. Wouldn’t want to start off on the wrong foot.”

@pcrkjinee
When it came to social events, Audrey was, at times, a wallflower. She was good at controlling a room when it came to business meetings and networking at other formal events was one of her callings. But push the blonde into a social event, one that didn’t even include a formal sit-down dinner at that, and you got yourself a totally different Audrey. It wasn’t that having fun was hard for the blonde. All it really took for her to have fun was a few close friends, a few shots and something that would pique her interest enough to get her talking. What was hard was actually finding the people to be comfortable with... which explained the company she was with now. Although she had befriended the boutique owner in an almost professional-like setting and technically by coincidence, she felt like she could have a comfortable working friendship with Ji Nee.
“Are you planning on bidding tonight?” she asked as she looked at the woman next to her. “The pieces all look so lovely. I’d bid myself but I already know someone’s going to outbid me,” she added with a chuckle.

DAY 1: THE FOYER.
( @audreyhvstings )
“First rule of tonight, don’t look after them. They’re gonna get in trouble, so let them.” Ross handed her a drink, from the bar and nodded to add her to his tab. He had zero inclination of buying something from the silent auction. He was here to drink, if he was honest. Work hard and play harder, Audrey had seen some of it. Right now he was about three drinks and barely thinking of the consequences. His eyes scanned the place around them. “Sean’s events are always better. I have you added as my plus one. I’m in a hotel tonight – you know how boujee I am. I have a room booked for you too.” He flicked his phone out and shared the booking with her, in case he forgot. It was habit these days – book two. “And the second rule is have a good time. No worrying.”
Tumblr media
Audrey took the drink from him, brows furrowed slightly at the remark. "But you’re gonna end up killing them the next day. I thought we were trying to avoid that,” she replied. She examined her drink carefully before taking a sip. She sighed as it went down her throat. He remembered her drink. From the way he looked now, she wasn’t expecting him to remember... or perhaps he wasn’t there yet. She pulled out her phone as he did, reading over the booking info on her phone. “No camping tonight?” She smiled softly, raising a brow and nodding to the others who were already headed in that direction. At the mention of having a good time, she chuckled. You didn’t give me that option during the first few years I worked under you, she thought. “I’ll try. This is a little different from the other events.”

@brycbrooks
Audrey watched the man as he carefully and skillfully painted the young woman before him. She had never seen someone paint someone as accurately, let alone as quickly, as the man did, which made her wonder where the benefactors actually found him and how much they were paying him.
Her eyes followed his hand as he brushed on the final touches of the painting. Art was fascinating but so odd. There were times when she really didn’t get the end product but the work that was put into the product was interesting. What was the inspiration? How did they develop the style? How did they even begin? She shuffled off to the side, letting others have a look at what was going on.
“He’s quite talented, isn’t he,” she said to the figure beside her. “Sorry for blocking the way. I’m not in line, if that’s what you’re wondering,” she added with an apologetic smile.

@clearedashe
Audrey sipped from the champagne flute in her hand. Events like the charity gala were always meant to be a way for her to relax and let her hair down. Her phone beeped in her other hand. Sort of. She sighed as she scrolled through the media feed, refreshing at least 5 times before turning her phone off and putting it away. The event was crawling with celebrities, which meant keeping an eye on some of the talents when she could. It wasn’t technically her job to look after them but if it meant easing Ross’ mind and keeping him from killing them himself, then she was happy to play the part of the mom friend for the night. Spotting a familiar face in the crowd, she quickly sipped the rest of her drink, set it down and made her way over to the figure.
“Are you enjoying yourself?” she asked as she nudged Asher. “I do hope you’ll try your best not to make a fool of yourself for the next three days.”

pcrkjinee:
“That’s what I always strive for. One step ahead at all times,“ Ji Nee said with a light nod. She said nothing about the team. They were the reason why she fled for lunch. All of them were still getting their plans together. and she wanted to move. Everything would pan out fine. It always did, which was what she reminded herself. At the mention of a cancelled meeting, Ji Nee sighed sympathetically. "Well, at least you’ll have some time for a good meal,” Ji Nee said in an attempt to find a brightside. She knew full well if it happened to her that wouldn’t be a thought that crossed her mind.
As Audrey cleared her notification, Ji Nee moved back to make room for her food. At the question, she nodded. “It’s not, it’s right down the block. So when we started out I used to come here almost every day, since the food’s relatively healthy and I would have just ate fast food without it,” Ji Nee popped a kale chip into her mouth, mind drifting to some of last years’ chaos. “Once people figured out I came here regularly, I started limiting my trips,” she explained. “What about you? Is your office close? I feel like I haven’t explored around here in awhile."
Tumblr media
Audrey nodded almost in unison. She was glad to find someone, other than Ross, who agreed on that idea. Planning set everything up. If you were one step ahead, then everything was going to be fine. At least according to her experiences. She chuckled softly. “That is true. I don’t think I’ve eaten since 7 this morning,” she replied, hand going to her stomach. There were times when she would go an entire day without eating a whole meal. It was mostly bites. She sacrificed a lot of things for her job but it was well-worth it, in her opinion... even if it did take 2 and a half years to realize it. “Any recommendations?”
After clearing her notifications, she turned to the small menu in front of her. The selection was healthier than what she was used to. She made a note to visit healthier restaurants more often. “Oh, that’s convenient then,” she replied as she turned to the woman. “Hopefully no one’s given you a hard time since then.” She could somewhat understand what that was like, seeing that she followed talents around, often getting a taste of what it was like to be in front of all those cameras. “My office is a few blocks away. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk. 5-10 minute bus ride, if I’m running a bit late,” she said with a shrug. She had only been late one time and the bus had been the quickest way to get back, even with traffic. “I’ve frequented the area so many times. There isn’t much to see around here but it is quite charming in it’s own way.”

opheliawinters:
Walk a little faster. Yeah, okay, whatever. Ophelia brushed the comment off, willing her annoyance with Audrey to fade into oblivion — she liked Audrey, she really did. She was sweet and was good at her job but the annoyance with her still festered in the pit of Ophelia’s stomach. She chalked it up to it being any ill thoughts or feelings she felt in regards to Ross were transferred over to Audrey; she couldn’t yell at Ross, or be rude to him, or have her tone of voice slightly bordering on the edge of not nice. But she could with Audrey.
Ophelia leaned backwards into the seat, letting her eyes flutter closed. It also didn’t help that she’d very much woken up on the wrong side of the bed today. Every little thing seemed to be agitating her, or setting her on edge.
“Mm?” Ophelia’s ears perked up at the sound of fashion magazine. It was always more relaxed with those kinds of meetings. Editors fawning over her. Begging her to be on their pages or on their cover or to do an exclusive feature with them. It took the stress out of her as she had nothing to prove to them and they had everything to prove to her.
“That sounds great, Audrey.” Ophelia answered honestly. “I haven’t done a magazine in a while.” She frowned slightly, “Shouldn’t I be doing more marketing? I feel like I haven’t had any new endorsements or covers or appearances in forever.” Ophelia wasn’t complaining—frankly she was sick of the overexposure and the work she had to pour into all of her side-deals. She much preferred the relaxed route of working her unusual and gruelling hours and then having the rest of her time occupied with things she actually enjoyed.
Tumblr media
Her experience with the talents over the years groomed her into knowing some of the ins and outs of their heads. Asher was a little on the wayside, more bubbly and energetic and a definite partier. Evie was the more innocent (aside from the baby scandal) and kind one among them. Ophelia stood somewhere in the middle. She was a lovely girl but with all of the pressure surrounding her image, she knew she was cracking slowly. Audrey wasn’t oblivious to the annoyances Ophelia held for Ross. She understood that he was hard to work with so it was up to her to calm her down at times.
She continued scrolling through her phone, going over the details of the meeting and what Ross was expecting. Editorial meetings were usually smooth and since they were considering Ophelia as their front page, she knew it was going to be an easy discussion. The only concerns she had were whether or not they would be able to paint her in a good light and if the agreement they would settle on would be in their best interests. Things were becoming difficult in terms of getting the talents out there and with good publicity. It was taking a toll on the company, on her and on Ross. They had a duty to fulfill and they’ll be damned if they failed.
“Yes, which is why we’re starting with this while Ross gets everything ready for your next project,” she replied as she turned to look at her. “If we get this out of the way, perhaps another cover story or two within the next few months, we can look at endorsements and bigger projects.” Audrey was always good at thinking ahead in plans. It was one of the things that got her this job in the first place. It was just a matter of following through and getting people on board. “Are there any particular marketing projects you’d like to take on? A certain endorsement or something?”

brycbrooks:
         Bryce nodded. “They’re good like that. It’s probably why there’s a pet shop every few blocks so that people are properly distracted into buying as many as possible.” It may or may not have been completely true, not sure when he’d last been near or in a pet shop but the moment that he was inside; Bryce couldn’t remember ever wanting to leave. At least not without a pet in each arm as he grinned at the girl. “My father is Mr. Brooks. I’m Bryce.” A slight chuckle escaped then, a lame attempt at humor when it came to ignoring the rigid tension that kicked up the moment she called him Mr. Brooks. Most interviewers tried it once but then knew better as they got to know Bryce, his father was Mr. Brooks and made sure that everyone knew it. Especially Bryce.
“Didn’t you say that we have both profusely apologized? That we shouldn’t anymore?” He grinned a bit wider at that, setting backwards onto his heels as he pressed his hands into the pockets of his jacket and took a step towards the side where an entire crew of puppies were running over each other for attention from the small group of kids who were wandering about. “It would have been fair though. A push for a push.” He winked over at her, before he straightening back up again. “But you have me at a disadvantage now. You know my name but I don’t know yours.”
Tumblr media
“You have to hand it to them then. Pet shops have really good marketing skills,” she replied with a chuckle. At least to her knowledge they did. Cute animals were irresistible. A step into the pet shop and you were a goner. Parents had it the worst. She remembered the last time her father took her to the pet shop. Ever since then, they had strayed away from pet shops at all costs. Her father was allergic and no amount of sad Audrey begging would coax him into getting a pet.
She shook her head and chuckled. “Right. Bryce,” She wanted to kick herself. So much for formality. The last thing she wanted was to leave a bad impression. “You are... correct about that.” She bit her tongue, trying hard not to apologize again. “I suppose it’s a habit,” she added finally. Apologizing to certain people was her forté, especially when things went wrong, which they usually did. Her mind trailed back to her first years of working, imagining all of the fuck-ups she used to do. Sorry, sorry, sorry. She returned her attention to Bryce and smiled. “Maybe but it was an accident. I don’t think purposely pushing you would be fair in this case.” She extended her hand out for a shake. “I’m Audrey.”

libbyfox:
@audreyhvstings
Moving across the country was difficult for the young woman. Her whole life she had felt out of place - skipping grades. College had finally felt like a place she could fit in, but now that was over and L.A. was the best place for her to be. Knowing that and believing it were very different things for Libby. She still hadn’t acclimated to the lifestyle of the west coast which made it difficult to relate to most people. It seemed like everyone here had an image that they worked terribly hard to uphold and Libby just felt like Libby. The one person she had meet and become quick friends with was Audrey. Both being intellectuals in a city full of dreamers gave them a common ground. They were genuine wholesome friends - which allowed Libby to have a little bit of a safe place in this crazy city.
“So you’re telling me that posting pictures of Neil Degrasse Tyson isn’t relate-able content for my Instagram?” Libby giggled lounging back in the couch of her apartment. “No one wants to see a picture of my face. I don’t understand the concept behind social media - which is quite ironic seeing its my entire career is helping people navigate online presence.”
Tumblr media
Audrey scrolled through her phone, inputting all the other details she needed for the week’s schedule. Even when she wasn’t supposed to be doing work, she was always doing something related to her job. It was almost an unhealthy obsession. Her life was practically all work and no play. If it wasn’t for Libby, she probably would have lost her mind over time. Sure, Ross gave her vacations if she needed but even those were limited in terms of how much time she got. Her brows furrowed as the young woman plopped down next to her on the couch. She turned to her friend with a raised brow.
“Really? Neil Degrasse Tyson?” she replied. “I mean, it is relatable, don’t get me wrong. He’s incredible. It’s just... if you want to create some buzz around Libby the CEO, you need to post something about you,” she added with a chuckle. Audrey wasn’t much of a social media person herself but seeing that she worked for a company that utilized platforms often, it was only fitting for her to pick up a few tricks. “Oh please. I can’t think of anyone who would turn down your beautiful face.” Her hand stretched out to lightly touch the underside of her chin. “Besides,” she returned to her phone, “It’s good publicity if you show the genius behind the company. So be relatable by showing your face, Lib.”

hvrwell:
The business he had decided to go into was a particularly stressful one. It was so heavily layered with people’s personal growth and attempting to market the hardest product in the world: humans. Humans were the only product that seemed hellbent on fucking up all the hard work that went into any project. It was why any new talent that he selected had to have a certain will to work with him. He was so very tired of fighting people who only wanted to destroy his hard work. Ross was the guy that they wanted because he could make even the most disastrous of images seemingly turn around in a few months. What they failed to understand was that no human changed that quickly. It meant a lot of work, it meant a lot of money. Which was fine, but the flat rate of solving someone’s image issue bored the fuck out of him. And he didn’t make the meat of the gains there.
He chuckled at her use of the word hobbies. “If I buy a big enough house, I can stash all my goddamn children to keep a better eye on them. They’re my hobby, shit.” He had a sailor’s mouth, when it came to problem children. “Then I could book us a reality series, we can call it The Ross World, and fans could see just how much I almost lose my shit.” His fingers tapped on the steering wheel, glancing at the mirror before he accelerated onto the highway. He’d been in LA for too long, he knew all the routes. He drove something like a mad man, but it was never something that was out of control. His brother usually joked that maybe he should have been the racecar driver. Lead foot, but aware of his surroundings. “I’m still thinking about the house. That’s a big step. I’d probably have to hire a housekeeper because I’d always be at the office like usual.”
When it came to to work, Ross was 0-60, always grinding. He was the second one there and last one to leave, usually. At any given time, he was working. Remotely on the weekends and nights when he had afternoon meetings elsewhere. Idly, Ross wondered if Audrey knew how much of this company was built when he was either drinking or hungover. He might have a problem there, but he’d make a note to look into that. “The board meeting being canceled is the best news I’ve heard all week.” While Ross was the Founder and CEO, he still had others that handled issues. Legal, accounting, marketing, analysis, and so on. He found the whole idea of a board meeting taxing, mostly because they all sent him reports weekly anyway and he was capable of reading. But his co-founder was quite fond of them so he did it. As they pulled up to the restaurant, he dug into his wallet and fished out the black AmEx, holding it extended between his index finger and middle finger. “This is for next week, before I forget. Have them call me if there is any issue with you using it. Yell at me next time, I know it takes a minute to get dresses and stuff in order.”
Oddly, Ross was considering just adding her name to his account and having them cut her a card. Ross trusted Audrey, which was very odd for him. She had access to everything in his business and that was even bigger for him than giving access to his credit cards.
Tumblr media
Audrey chuckled at the mention of a reality show. “You’d be making even more money out of that. Talented but rambunctious children and you losing your mind would make for good television,” she replied. It was interesting to see someone so invested in his talents. Many people in Hollywood had a close relationship with their managers but the way Ross handled his talents was synonymous with parenting. He cared about them more than they thought, more than she thought initially. He did everything he could to keep them in line and keep them relevant in Hollywood. It was a shame not many people could recognize it the way she did.
Her back leaned firmly against her seat. She had almost forgotten how fast the man actually drove. She clutched onto her purse, trying her best to tame the headache she could feel forming. “You probably would have to, especially since you work late anyway.” She shrugged. “A housekeeper would help keep you organized at home. I’d offer to help but that’s outside my expertise,” she said with a smirk. It was amazing how much time and effort the man put into his work. She had expected him to be the first one to leave every night when she first started working. She thought it would be her who would be left at the office, cleaning and polishing the schedules for the next day. Yet, he stayed, with some nights longer than usual. There was a time when she swore he had spent the whole night at the office, wearing the same clothes and hacking away at a project. He put everything into his company and she admired him for it.
“They are planning to hold an even longer one for the next meeting though, just to warn you,” she replied as she checked her phone for the email. “Hopefully it doesn’t get to that. I’ll make sure it runs smoothly so we save some time.” As she swiped away at the emails and reminders that filled her phone, she caught the shiny black card from the corner of her eye. She immediately reached for it, holding it in her two fingers as he did, before scrolling to the schedules for next week. “Right,” her eyes caught the details of the event. Something formal, business casual... “Sounds good. There was an issue the last time I used this so I’ll definitely keep that in mind,” she said with a smile. She had been eyeing one dress in this one boutique for awhile. Guess it was time to put it on hold.
She was amazed by how much trust the man placed in her when it came to these things. In all honesty, she practically had the business in the palm of her hand. She kept things running smoothly and made sure Ross didn’t totally lose his mind over his work. At this point in time, she had the credentials and the skills to run the place. She pushed the thought away from her mind. Wishful thinking.
“About the house... any neighbourhoods in mind?”
