He doesn’t take one yet, opting to stand a bit off to the sides instead as he mulls over how something like that sounds. Were there actual ashes in the bread, or was it just some special baking method that made it ash bread? Was it more like a cake, or was it–
ah, wait a second. He shouldn’t just be standing there mumbling like that.
Loki snaps his attention back to the world around him, turning and seeing someone close by and immediately wondering to himself if he’d been blocking their way. While he’d been… pondering about ash bread. Stellar.
“I, um– Was I in your way? Sorry,” he quickly scoots off to the side, offering a slight bow of apology. “I was just– I mean, I’ve never seen ash bread before, so I was staring at it…”

The art of a true creator is knowing when to study from others. However, the best creator knew how to study from others the best, and there she was - crouched with her skirt balled up in her hands as she analysed the admittedly very strange texture of the bread. However, such an intense stare seemed to have given someone the wrong idea, only realising as she popped back into reality at their voice.
“Oh, no, don’t worry!” she smiled, waving a hand as if to fan away his concerns. “Just got a little, uh, sidetracked is all! Like, are we gonna get a mouth full of charcoal if we eat this, or do you think the ash just comes from how they bake it? Maybe they bake them over the bonfire or something...” Evidently, the thought process of the best wasn’t too different when it came down to it. “... Wanna buy one and find out?”

Call it tradition, old habits, or whatever else, but Astorel didn’t feel right just sitting around to enjoy the festivities. Taking a break at any other time would have been a blessing from Ayja’s fortunes themselves had she not had a whirlwind of questions storming her mind, so she was left at a strange compromise where she had nothing to do and yet everything to fret about. In order to alleviate some of her worries, she decided to help out with part of the hot pot, although even that proved troublesome.
She knew the old Cortean recipe off by heart, but the ingredients being just out of reach was why she had levitation magic, for the Gods’s sakes! If her time innkeeping had taught her anything, though, it was that there was always an adventurer waiting for some ‘quest’ to undertake, no matter how mundane.
“Excuse me!” she called to the first person who seemed like they had the time to spare. "Sorry to bother you, but could you pass me those vegetables? I’m kind of tied up!”

The elf dropped her chin into her hands and gently clapped at her cheeks, trying to thaw out her brain for just long enough to process the situation. It hadn’t worked in the past few days, but maybe this time she’d have some amount of luck. She was owed it by this point!
Not only was she nowhere near Imira - far too cold - but Baranir was nowhere near himself - far too tiny. Even her magic was useless here; she could barely feel her familiar’s presence, never mind the ley lines. Said familiar, however, seemed to not have a care in the world, simply enjoying the warmth of the bonfire and splaying himself out
"What am I gonna do with you, huh?” she hummed, tucking her hands under his tiny arms to pick him up. As he gently pawed at her nose, a small but nostalgic smile spread. It had been years since she’d last been able to do this without magic, hadn’t it? Maybe she could just enjoy it a little longer.
