“Okay,” I nod and slowly lift him in the Force before setting him in the sandy shade under a tree and turning to Anubis, “C’mere baby, let me heal you.”
Anubis whines and slowly makes his way over now, his ribs and leg hurting most of all. His teeth and fur are still matted with Ahsoka’s blood- but he doesn’t mind. It was a victory, in his mind.

“Call Kix,” I hold out my comm, “tell him SOS so he brings the medical ship.”
Ben takes the comm and dials Kix's number, loosening a breath of relief when the man picks up. "Kix- hi- we- we need help- Vader's down. SOS. Can you track the coordinates?" he waits a moment, then nods. "Alright- Yes we'll get him somewhere cooler. Thank you." He hangs up the comm, handing it back. We've got to carry him to somewhere more shaded. Kix doesn't want the sun beating down on him."

“It’s gonna be okay,” I whisper to him softly before slowly pushing him into a sleep with the Force, making sure he feels every ounce of light and love I can give him.
Ben sits back for a moment, a bit dizzy from that random surge of Force usage, "We... we need to make sure the boys got her and then- and then get him onto the ship and back home."

“No,” I sniffle back more tears, “not gonna die. Gonna be o-okay.” I double my efforts to heal him, “I- I need to put you into a healing sleep, okay?”
Vader nods a little, his eyes shifting to the sky as a ship crashes back through the atmosphere. At least it isn’t his. The boys must be okay, then.

“Nubi’s gonna be fine,” I whisper, “he’d want us to help you first,” I brush my fingers through his hair, starting to cry harder, “gonna be just f-fine.”
“Sh-She- she needed h-help,” he rasps. “I thought. ‘M I gonna d-die?”

“How did we let her get away?” I growl, “there’s fucking ten of us.”
“Don’t you worry.” Cody murmurs lowly, grabbing Crosshair and running back toward the camp. “HUNTER. C’MON.”
Hunter runs after them, letting Cody take up the pilot’s seat of Vader’s ship before they take off to follow Ahsoka’s ship.
“Breathe,” Ben murmurs to Vader, “try- try to breathe. You need air.”
“‘M- ‘m gonna- p-pass out,” Vader whispers, his head falling to the side. “H-Help- my dog.”

“No no, no no no, it’s okay,” I murmur quickly, carefully moving aside his burnt and split open tunic to start to heal what I can, “you’re gonna be just fine.” I tear up.
Ben drops down next to you and lays a hand on your shoulder, channeling more strength into you as he lays his free hand in Vader's curls. "It's- it's alright, Anakin," he says quietly, pushing healing energy into him as well, "You'll be alright." Will he? How could someone do this to him?
Hunter and Cody look up as a ship takes off in the distance, racing for the atmosphere.
"Ahsoka," Hunter grumbles.

“C’mon, it’s okay, bubs,” I move through the group, paling at the sight of Vader, “let me in,” I move over.
Rex stumbles aside so you can have room, staring down at Vader in pure silence, his eyes wide. He's... split open... Rex can see every bit of his intestines, some of them burnt by the saber. How is something like this even fixable?
Vader starts to gasp more for air, letting out a quiet pained sound with each exhale he manages to make. "M-My love," he whispers, "'m s-sorry..." tears fall down his cheeks, both at the pain and fear, and also the guilt of letting you down.
He's really going to die here. There's no way he won't.

I bolt up and hurry over to him, “Nubi?? Oh my god,” I scan him, “what happened, baby?”
He howls louder and starts to cry, bolting back in Vader's direction.
Rex, Cody, and Hunter are on their feet instantly, grabbing the weapons they brought and sprinting down the beach.
Ben grabs his saber, tossing yours to you too as he follows behind them, stunned at the clones' speed. Even in the sand it barely holds them back. Remarkable, really.
Hunter rounds the turn first, skidding to a stop as he sees Ahsoka over Vader's body. His eyes widen and he throws his first dagger, cursing when she simply bats it away.
Ahsoka tenses as the entire group starts to show up, and she sprints for the forest, sabers clipped back to her belt.
Hunter moves to help Vader but he's confronted with Anubis, who's growling and snarling at him even though the dog is also hurt. He's so scared that he's even guarding Vader... from people he knows...
"Nubi," he raises his hands, keeping his voice calm. "'s okay, pup. C'mon. You know me. We gotta help him."
Vader chokes out a pained noise and tries to get up, falling back into the sand the second he makes any progress. "N-Nubi..." his hand trembles as he reaches in Anubis' direction, laying a blanket of calm over him in the Force.
Even still, Anubis doesn't back down so quickly. Someone hurt his dad. Who can he trust?

I laugh softly and throw it again for him, “so fast!!The fastest puppy around!”
Vader laughs and plops down on the blanket to open up a package of snacks, watching you and Nubi play together.
After a few hours of surfing, swimming, tanning, and everything in between, Nubi starts to show more signs of being antsy, so Vader gets up off the blanket and dusts himself off. "C'mon Nubi! Let's go for a walk!" He grabs one of the toys Nubi likes the most and waves at all of you before walking down the beach with him.
He tosses the ball as he goes, grinning every time Nubi retrieves it and he gets to toss it even farther. Eventually, they round a turn in the sand, out of sight of everyone else.
They find a cute little area of still ocean water that must have just collected in the hollowed out sand, and Vader's grin widens as he watches Nubi splash around in that water. Beach days like this with his family are why he works so hard.
After they've been gone for about twenty minutes, Hunter slowly sits up, staring down the beach in the direction they went. He then turns to study the forest, eyes narrowing a little.
"Somethin's not right," he murmurs, "I dunno what... but it ain't good."
"Maybe the tide is changin' and messing you up," Rex shrugs, "That's highly possible."
"I duno." He tries to settle back in, but he just... can't. Not fully, anyway. Something is wrong. Nobody ever believes him until something happens.
Around the bend on their section of beach, Vader tosses the ball for Anubis yet again, pausing for a moment when something shifts slightly in the air. But... what? Nobody's around-
He turns to study the forest, freezing at the sight of Ahsoka. She looks- well she looks injured. Dirt covers her body in some areas, her lip is busted, and there's even seemingly a wound on her lek.
"Ahsoka?" he asks quietly, blinking back the shock. "Are you-"
"Master?" she rasps, making her way forward, a limp in her typically very athletic step, "I- I need- h-help."
"What happened to you?" he breathes, stepping closer, "Oh my gods. Who did this?"
"I- I don't- I don't know, I'm..." she stumbles forward a little, and the second Vader goes to catch her and keep her steady, a lightsaber activates and punctures his abdomen. All the way out the other side, in his back.
Vader gasps and studies Ahsoka in pure shock as she lifts her free hand up to tear away the facial blur mask she put on, her features returning to normal. She's not hurt. No, she's very, very healthy- and ready to murder him.
"Where was that helping attitude when the Fall happened?" She sneers, activating her other saber.
"A-Ahsoka- we can t-talk it out," he chokes out, wincing at the burning blade still inside of him. "Step b-back."
Anubis runs back over, the ball dropping from his mouth when he sees the situation Vader's in. He starts to bark loudly up at Ahsoka, growling from somewhere deep within his chest.
Ahsoka pulls the saber out just enough so that the tip of it is still burning in his stomach, and she rips it upward through his body, slicing him open from waist to neck. She pulls it out completely, then, smirking as Vader stumbles back.
"N-Nubi go," he says hoarsely, trying to regain his balance.
Instead of running, Anubis lunges for Ahsoka, catching her off guard. He manages to bite into her arm and digs his teeth in, holding on even as she jerks to try and throw him off.
"Son of a BITCH!" She yells, pushing Nubi off her with the Force.
He hits rock and yelps loudly, falling to the ground with a few whimpers. But even still, he gets up, Ahsoka's blood pouring from his mouth and all over his maw as he runs as fast as he can back to the group.
Vader gathers enough strength to block her next strike with the Force, freezing her saber in place. But Ahsoka quickly recovers with her second one, stabbing it through his thigh so it's harder for him to run too.
"You stole everything from me," she sneers as he starts to tilt, watching his body fall backward until he's limp in the sand, facing the sky and rasping heavily for oxygen thanks to his destroyed inner organs. "You stole my home. My family. You won't be stealing anything from me ever again."
She slowly steps back, just in case he does manage to recover, and just... stands there, head tilted, watching him start to die. "You deserve this. You deserve every ounce of pain pushing you toward death right now."
Anubis reaches your camp, limping badly but still running, and starts howling at the top of his lungs the second he sees people he recognizes.

“Cool. Nubi!!” I get his attention and hold up his ball before tossing it into the water, “fetch!”
Nubi barks excitedly and sprints into the water, swimming so perfectly through the little waves to get the ball before bringing it right back.
He drops the ball at your feet and spins in a circle, wanting you to throw it again.

I head off with the blankets and start to lay them down to make a giant picnic area for all of us, “Cody!” I call, “did you bring the weights?”
“‘Course I did, love,” Cody nods, grabbing the weights from a duffel bag he brought and starting to lay them along the corners.

“Hell yeah,” I beam and hurry up the lamp, “let’s go losers.”
The family hurries up the ramp with you and Vader flies to the beach Ben requested, thrilled when he sees it has plenty of room to run around with Anubis and absolutely no one is there.
“Oh perfect,” he murmurs in awe, carefully landing so he doesn’t disturb all the sand.

“I love that for him,” I grin and help him grab some of our things before heading to our ship with him and Anubis.
Vader grins as he approaches the ship, everyone else already waiting. “Hi guys- perfect day for a beach trip.”
“That’s what we were thinkin’,” Rex nods, wearing aviators, swim trunks, and his favorite hawaiian dad t-shirt. “Brought us a bunch of snacks.”

“Cool,” he nods, quickly starting to gather up Nubi’s day trip bag. “Nubi will love the beach- he hasn’t been in forever.”

I come into our living room one afternoon with a packed basket, “you ready forrrr the family picnic?” I give Vader a grin.
“Of course,” he grins right back, “I forget- are we going off-planet for this one? I need to pack enough for Nubi if so.”

“Okay,” I laugh softly and settle in more against his chest, “sounds like a plan to me.”
Vader kisses your head and tucks the two of you in more, settling with a soft, content sigh.
Eventually, you both decide to just get married in private, then celebrate with a really nice dinner and intimate party with those who came to the Palace with you, Cody, and Vader’s favorite Inquisitors, Jaspar and Talon.
Both of them are very kind to you, studying you in pure curiosity as Talon quizzes you on your entire life just because she’s so interested.
The group quickly gets settled into the palace life, with Cody and Ben moving in together and Hunter and his crew even joining about a month later, thanks to Rex’s communications.
This… is all he ever wanted, Vader realizes. His friends and loved ones close. Safe. Provided for. Perhaps he was more successful than he thought himself to be.
