ask-finn-the-big-deal:
With the first smack, Finn frowned, quite taken aback by her sudden reaction. But once she hit him for the second time, the male couldn’t help but feel absolutely ashamed for what he did. He didn’t mean to upset Rose. Both him and Poe were just playing around, acting like a pair of curious, immature teenagers. But they never thought about the consequences.
He watched the girl walk away, hesitating at first. What if she was only going to get even more pissed off at him? What if, this time, she was going to smack him right across the face?
‘Kriff it all.’ Finn told himself, taking a deep breath to fill up his lungs with air and maybe some courage as well, and went after Rose, stepping fast enough to catch up.
“I’m sorry.” He blurted out. That was just the way most of his words come out of his mouth when he was either overwhelmed or anxious. His mouth managed to work faster than his brain, but at least nothing stupid slipped out.
Of course this would happen to her on frickin’ Valentine’s Day.
Rose clenched her jaw once more as her pace sped up on the way back to her quarters. She could hear Finn shuffling behind her, ensuring her that he was following her still. The girl’s eyes shifted from door to door, finally halting in front of her own when she heard him apologise rapidly.
“I sure hope you are!” She snapped the second her boyfriend stepped in front of her. Rose raised her head high, her gaze meeting his in faux confidence. “Otherwise, there would be a problem.”
There was no hint of real anger or annoyance in her voice; just an easily detectable amount of embarrassment. And, somehow, knowing that her emotions were an open book only made her more embarrassed. She scoffed, ‘as if it were possible’.
With her gaze lowered, she glanced around at the couples around the two, biting her lip quietly and assessing the situation.
She would hate to make a scene on Valentine’s Day.
If they were to have this conversation, they would have it in private. Resistance members already knew far too much about her and Finn’s relationship and intimate life anyways. Her eyebrows furrowed before a sigh erupted from her throat and she punched in the 4-digit code on a panel next to her door (the same code that Finn had come to memorise), and it opened with a quick ‘whoosh’.
She walked inside her assigned room knowing that her boyfriend would be following her still. Rose mumbled for Finn to close the door as she untied the wires keeping her ponytail up with her back turned to him. She let her hair down and for a few seconds ran her fingers through her black hair. She sniffled, remaining silent while tying the colourful cables around her wrist loose enough to not be uncomfortable.
Rose turned around to face him, her eyes trained on the floor. She shifted from one foot to the other awkwardly while mindlessly rubbing at her wrist. Her lungs filled with air as she inhaled deeply. The girl cleared her throat and forced herself to look into Finn’s eyes expectantly.
Before speaking, she would’ve expected her voice to be soft and resigned knowing her luck. However, now she was thankful that when she did ask him her question, the words had a slight sharp edge to them.
“Why did you do it?”
