I’m dreadfully afraid of getting my blood drawn. It makes me feel like my arm is going to fall off.

CAN an arm fall off from that????

Looking for any suggestions on how to NOT almost pass out when I see blood…. If you have any advice.

Dear Sender,

Allow me first to set your mind at ease by saying: no, your arm can't fall off from having bloods drawn. Thankfully there are many magimedical ways of analysing your blood without having to remove it, but should it be necessary, my best advice would be to avert your gaze for the duration.

If the mere thought of having such a procedure elevates anxiety to an unmanageable degree, you can request a calming draught beforehand to help.

I'm afraid that it's slightly more difficult to advise on other circumstances in which you may see blood as it's harder to control the environment. Best to avoid such situations if you can, but if that's not possible, perhaps distraction and some controlled breathing in combination with a calming draught may help.

If you feel faint, sit with your head lowered between your knees or lie down with your feet elevated until you can calm yourself. Wouldn't do to add a head injury to the mix.

A pear and pear-shaped are two different things, but was this pear-shaped fruit from the greenhouses perhaps?

[Sighs heavily, thoughts temporarily diverting to those of chomping cabbages and ravaged tongues. His eyes pause briefly on the general area of Amit's abdomen as he hands over two phials of blood-replenishing potion.]

These will help but potential internal injuries would complicate matters, so best to get yourself to the hospital wing for a full examination. [motions towards the phials] Take one now and another in one hour, if needed. No sooner than one hour though, or you'll swell like a bloated leech and the trek to see @ask-nurse-blainey will be much harder if you're, erm...wobbly.

Alsius, any shot you're free this weekend? A few of us are taking advantage of my home being empty...

.....And knowing this group, I suspect having a healer on site would not be such a bad idea.

Especially if a certain Slytherin gets her wishes...

[Alsius glances up from the phials he's labelling, smoothing the sticker over the glass as he quietly listens to Montrose dive straight into business. He is more than little surprised by the invitation, given he and Montrose aren't exactly close.]

That sounds...slightly ominous. This weekend? [mouth turns in a thoughtful frown, trying to recall his schedule] Sure...if you think my presence will be helpful, then I will plan to be there.

A welcoming sight after a day in the hospital wing — such was your face to me when you walked through the doors today! I am not sure if it still is the love potion chocolate speaking from deep within my heart but you are the most gorgeous guy I've ever layed my eyes on!

Tell me, did you have somebody special in mind for today's Valentine's Day? Or is our brave doctor all alone for such a holiday?

With possibly some of that fake chocolate still coursing through my veins,

Apologies for taking so long to respond, and...ehm, [awkwardly clears throat] thank you for the lovely compliment.

I don't really understand the point of the holiday as I never celebrated or knew much about it before coming to Hogwarts. Certainly if someone had a special someone in their life, then they would show their affection every day rather than just one day a year?

[reminisces and rubs at the flush creeping across the back of his neck]

I do not have a valentine specifically, but I did show appreciation to my closest friend, as I was rather rudely informed by a lesser friend that it was remiss not to.

Otherwise, I spent the day in the hospital wing dealing with an unusually high number of love potion overdoses. I may not know much about Valentine's Day, but it does seem to be a bit of a hazard to student body health.

I admire your diligence in practising proper breath training. Many overlook the benefits that breathing exercises and increased lung capacity have on general health, but do be careful not to overly restrict your airflow for prolonged periods of time. Nasty business if you overdo it.

If it's not too bold of me, may I suggest that you come by the hospital wing and get that eye tic checked? It's probably nothing but safety first.
