The Hybrid lazily shifted her gaze from her Madame to the head chef of the catering service, as well as how The Duchess had told her in songs of praise, the owner itself, too. Even though he owned, he was not too high off the ground to work among his employees.
"Asalia Naelle Alvarez, a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Ethelwulf. It seems you are gifted with a talent for speech just the same, although it would be hard for any talent to reach the perfection of skill that was needed to conjure what he have had the honor to eat.", Lia said, choosing her words carefully. After all, this was not her usual métier at all - rather the opposite. The Pulse was loud, and the clientele was young, which were the two main factors in the way one spoke in the club. Short sentences, hip words, slurred through all the alcohol.
What she attended right here was an effort, behaving just perfectly, no stray movements, no words should be spoken that didn't fit - and most especially Lia was to follow, after all, she was just a Plus One.
The Duchess and her had known each other for quite a while already, though they had never have much contact, still, it was on-going. Her father was still rich, still had money left the Alvarez family had given him, and he had always been a fan of good cuisine. In her childhood they had dined in restaurants so often, and one day, The Duchess had sat on the table next to the small family. Lia highly doubted she even was a Duchess, rather than an eccentric, though lovable elder lady, but ever since then, she had never heard another name.
Just as they were now, The Duchess loved to talk, and loved to meet new names and faces, and as quickly as the family bonded over her father and The Duchess' shared love of great food, the quickly the childless widow Duchess had taken a special interest and care in Lia when her parents divorced in such an ugly manner.
So, now and then, they had dinner together, and now and then, when she required someone to take with her, the two of them had a nice evening at events like this one. "Believe me, I prefer your company a lot more than those of anyone else I might invite. I just take so much pleasure from seeing your happy eyes each time we meet.", she would say often enough, and she this time she had added: "You will never again in your life eat food as delicious as this. The man is among gods!"      Yet she had been right. The food had been more than delicious, melting on the tongue, lighting all her senses up at once, never had she really eaten anything like it. Poor pizza didn't really compare.
"Now that I am finally able to understand the worship The Duchess has sang, I have to say it is hard to believe the 'love of food' is enough, 'A man of God's court' does sound more reasonable to me. It sure is time and training, too, is it? Since when has it been your passion?", Lia asked the man, tracing his features in curiosity.
To Whom I May Meet | Lia & Roukan
Tumblr media
The dinner party wasn’t the smallest nor was it the largest that Roukan had been asked to do. Regardless of it’s size the scenery was one of elegance, the music of taste, and the people of mixed virtues. It was one of Seattle’s many balls held by a higher named who either needed to impress the society that they thought they belonged in or to get themselves out of a publicity stunt that was labeled wrong. Rarely did Roukan find himself in the payroll of someone who through an event solely for a good cause. It was the price they paid to live in such a world so corrupt, or so he believed.      The soft morning glow had bled into an anxious afternoon that eventually darkened into the night, the time where Roukan was most comfortable. The moon had naught been but two nights previous and the werewolf still reveled in the afterglow of shedding flesh and taking claw to earth again. He felt grounded, steady, a living rock amongst a dead sea and it showed with every order he gave out, every dish he plated, and every guest he met. It was true he mingled with the party-goers in nearly every event he catered too, fluttering back and forth between scene and kitchen to balance work and petty word exchanges. It was to keep up image, to uphold his stature, and to meet the many faces of the busy city.
With the evening shedding its hours, people began to feast and drink and soon the questions were being asked to compliment the chef. That is when Roukan made his appearance, taking off his apron in lieu of a suit jacket. He let the smile come easily to his lips, flattered by compliments that were rightfully given though he had to make sure to remind all that he had a bountiful staff who worked just as hard as he behind the scenes.
His attention was gathered most unexpectedly by a gentle hand on his elbow and turning he saw it to be to an elderly woman, another presence by her side. The elder smiled warmly, eyes glowing in the soft candle light. Lips parted and words poured forth.      “Mr. Ethelwulf, I wanted to introduce you to a friend of mine. We were discussing the food and its divinity. I am completely convinced you are an angel of God’s courts for being able to create such delicious food!”     Roukan gave a small smile, eyes leaving the elder to the other, catching them briefly. “I assure you both,” his eyes shifted again. “That I am but a mere man of God, not one of his on court. I am gifted, simply, by the love of food.” He placed his hand gently atop of the woman’s who still held his elbow. “May I ask your names?”
The woman prattled off her own title, Roukan accepting it with a full mind but his eyes settled once more on her companion. “And who may your company be?”

"Maybe it's because I've lived here for forever that I've never been. Never had the need to 'get to know' the city, since I knew exactly where I was. At least so I thought, and so I will be taught a better today.", Lia pondered, then shrugged it all of her shoulders again. "Plus, I am a big fan of road trips in general. Custom playlists, chilling in the car, 'die weg ist der ziel' is one of the only things I remember back from German class in high school. But it's just staying there for a while, maybe watch the sunset, but no tents, the car does just fine."
Lia loved talking about herself, but when she noticed she was slipping away from Mr Car, she caught herself.
"Sorry for that. A year is just enough to get settled. Where have you lived before that, Lionel? You know, if you want you can always just come with us. Mitch wouldn't mind, he's used to me being spontaneous.", Asalia continued while shaking his surprisingly big hand. Big hands usually meant big feet. And everyone knew what big feet meant... grinning to herself, Lia turned away to face the Starbucks in hope of seeing Mitch - and hoping to keep that dirty smile a secret.
Tumblr media
He noticed the surprise on her face but thought very little of it as he hadn’t seen a reason to get obnoxious about the minor debacle. Not that he’d get riled up over much of anything, but certainly not over a parking space & especially not at a smiling woman.
"You’re fine." Lionel assured her once more for good measure. "That does actually almost sound criminal. I’ve been & I’ve hardly lived here a year." A small grin found him at the memory of the picturesque lake only some eight miles from where they stood. "It’s definitely worth a visit." He concluded with a pleasant shrug before taking her hand. "Pleasure to meet you, Asalia. I’m Lionel." He said while shaking her hand. "Nowhere in particular actually, I was just leaving. No exciting plans I’m afraid." Lionel flashed her another smile. "Are you gonna camp out there or just check it out?"

Drabble #1: Starbucks
Zip zap, in and out. Not that in and out, just in, coffee, food, out.
"Mitcheeeeell! You, here? You visiting Lia again?", a voice rang from behind the counter before Mitch had even laid his eyes on any of the baristas to see if there was that cute new guy. A little young, Mitch preferred men to boys, but so dreamy.
"Yeah Brad, your sixth sense is as good as always. Sure you're not half-puppy by any chance? Just kidding. But yeah, taking her to Lake Sammamich! Never been there, can you believe that?! She was born here!"
"Oh, I thought she was from-"
"Nah, that's her parents, crrrazy people. Anyway, I'm just parking outside and she's waiting, so just the usual for me and a surprise for Lia, do you have those winter drinks already? And something to eat, lots of things to eat, I need a sandwich, and some muffins for Lia, and maybe two bagels, we have food, but it just tastes nicer here. And cookies, oh yes, cookies."
"One day you'll get fat, Mitch!"
"Don't joke about that, and I won't, do you see this body? I've been working out with Lia again and she just doesn't stop, it is actually almost torturing me, but look at what it does to me! By the way, do you know when that new guy's having shift again?"

Her smile went from reassuring to very positively surprised. She had expected the man to get angry and her memory was already digging out all the times she had gotten out of situations like that. As it seemed, she wouldn't need that. Eying the man while playing with her hair a little, her grin grew bigger. He was tall and older than her, and trimmed. Clean-shaven, his hair sitting just right...
"Thank you so much. And yes, we're on our way to Lake Sammamich. I've never been there even though I grew up here, and apparently that is a major faux-pas.", Lia said and smiled brightly at the man, then reached his hand out to him, "My name is Asalia. What am I keeping you from doing?"
Tumblr media
"Good morning." He answered back politely before following her thumb to the storefront of the Starbucks. "It’s no problem." Lionel said, lifting a hand to scratch the back of his head absently. Toying with his keys, he looked back at the young woman with a smile. "Road trip?" He observed out loud, having noticed some gear in the car.

That smile did worlds for her. Just a hint of shy and kind enough not to let her stand alone and awkward, Lia let out a happy: "Thank you so, so much!" and squeezed the girls underarm a little. "You're my personal hero today, I really can't thank you enough. So kind of you.", Lia continued to flatter the pretty one in front of her, not saying one word without meaning it.
Turning to the cashier again, Lia grinned at her one last time: "Sorry for all of that, but now you have a story to tell your boy toy at home." Snickering, Asalia was filled with relief and the fun mixture between 'wow, look at this girl' and 'today really is going to be a great day after all', giving her a high without any hint of a drug.
So she laughed at Rosie's joke, even if it really wasn't a joke at all probably. But in Lia's apartment it was already luck whenever her trash even found the trashcan. Which brought her to the next problem - the girl talked about recycling, so she'd probably be pretty disgusted by how it looked at her place. Yet letting this girl just go out in the world again would be such a waste, her with her pretty face and old style of fashion.
Well then, if they just hit off well enough, she would probably give her a number, and who would say no to free coffee if invited? The girl probably liked vegan things and flea-market things and those kind of venues. The girl, the girl, the girl.
"So, honoured Mother Theresa - my name is Lia. Can I get to know yours? Do you always help strangers in need and - oh, just the left here, and we'll be at my place, by the way."
Better Breakfast || Lia & Rosie
Rosie’s face turned to embarrassment quickly as she watched the woman try again. She bit her bottom lip and frowned, feeling terribly awkward. However, when she whipped around and looked her straight in the eyes Rosie was quickly caught off guard and lowered her eyes as she smiled bashfully and laughed softly. Now Rosie wasn’t rich, but she appreciated the kindness and felt bad for the other woman, and if she could get the money back she figured it couldn’t hurt too badly. Pursuing her lips for a moment, Rosie placed her goods on the table and looked to the cashier with a kind smile.
"If it’s not too much trouble do you think you could thing her things up with mine?" Rosie asked politely. The last looked between the two before letting out a soft sigh and ringing everything up. The total came to 78.47 which Rosie quickly paid with ten twenties and told her to keep the change. Rosie took the groceries and handed a bag to the other woman with a smile.
"Don’t forget to recycle and you don’t need to worry to worry about breakfast." Rosie finally spoke after they were out of the store. She didn’t really eat for one, but Rosie hated the idea of imposing.

So much for 'quick road trip to Lake Sammamish'. Mitchell had been in that Starbucks for 15 minutes already.
"Oh good morning.", Lia said, pushing her a little off the car she was leaning on, already feeling the looming trouble. "Not technically. It belongs to my friend, he's just in there getting us coffee and some breakfast.", she said pointing at the Starbucks behind her with her thumb and gave the man a reassuring smile: "Will be out any second, I promise!"

“This isn’t your car is it?” Lionel asked, pointing to the vehicle parked at the meter in front of his own.

Distinctive Voice or Speech Traits:
Asalia was born in Seattle, yet her parents still mainly spoke Spanish with her, which is how her words are spoken with what seems to be just a slightly different melody, yet no accent. Her Spanish is still fluent, even though she uses it rarely, unless she feels like it. Since she works fulltime at the Pulse, Lia is always up to date on the latest "Speech Culture" and knows all the words and abbreviations minors and young adults tend to come up with. Depending on who she speaks with, she speaks with different vocabulary, trying to impress her other.
Vocabulary:
Average
Distinctive Features:
Lia has been pretty lucky by the lottery of lucks, yet one thing she has been bullied for in her childhood was her large forehead. Her hairline is very high, and her forehead very round, only adding to the "large"-effect.
Even though Asalia's childhood home was a little dangerous with broken and thrown plates, the girl manages to withstand childhood with hardly any injuries - the only 'scars' she has are a few tiny white scars on her fingers, which she got when she started to become a bartender, and quickly slicing oranges and limes didn't work too well yet.
Lia has three tattoos, a tramp stamp on her very lower back from when it looked sexy, the shape of the Dominican Republic on her right foot's ankle, and a spying glass on her right hand's wrist.
Stance:
Due to Lia's calm and carefree nature, her stance is very relaxed. She often stands with her weight on one leg. Yet, since she works as a bartender, where she needs to stand for 8 hours a night straight, she knows how to be properly straight, so her back doesn't start aching.
Walk:
Lia's walk is just as relaxed as her stance. She walks rather straight and rather fast, since with her height and her long legs, her steps are large. Her hips stay rigid, and her walk doesn't seem to have a "music rhythm". Common Gestures:Being a deeply relaxed person, Lia doesn't have any nervous ticks, yet she knows exactly what to do to make others feel a little hotter - and those are the things she likes to to. Biting her lip, touching her neck or collar bones, cocking one eyebrow are only the most common ones.
Facial Expressions:
Lia's resting face looks as if she was sad - at least that is what others have told her. Fortunately for Lia (the are you okay?s do get on her nerves), she is a very smiling person, even if her smile tends to be a little more devious than happy.
Clothes and Shoes:
On her days off, Lia is a typical "tee and jeans" person, even if it's still just a hint more stylish than that. She prefers boyfriend-jeans to skinny ones, but once she works or parties herself, she likes tight and shiny to show off what she has. As for shoes, she usually goes for Nikes, since she finds them comfortable, and they're great to work in.
Cosmetics:
Lia likes to wear just no make-up at all whenever she's home, and is one of those people that only wear make-up to get attention from others, not because she finds herself prettier with it. She usually just goes with eyeliner and mascara, since she finds it already does the biggest deal. Another thing Lia loves is her hibiscus shampoo - she adores the smell and rarely puts on perfume, just because she doesn't want to overpower its scent.
Sociological
Birthplace:
Earth
Current Home:
Earth
Sexual Orientation:
On the Kinsey Sexuality Rating Scale, 3 - Equally heterosexual and homosexual
Number of Siblings:
0, 0 of whom are still living, and of which the character is only child.
Relationships within Family:
While Lia's parents passionately hate each other, Lia loves each of them just as much as they love her. She still thinks one day they will get together again, so she doesn't even think too much about the whole situation. Both of her parents are very strong characters, her mother came from a poor family and has always been working her ass off in her life, until she met Aarón. Lia admires her mother Caterina's passion and fire, even though she herself can only be burning up for someone for rather short periods of time, and doesn't nearly have as much energy. Aarón, her father is a very passionate man as well, though on another level. He is more calm, and a little spoiled, used to getting the things he likes and others admiring him. However, when he loves, he loves with 100%, absolutely committing himself to love alone, and is a hopeless, incredibly cheesy romantic. Her parents are still a little too overprotective, calling her at least once every two weeks, but Lia acts very casual about it.
Character's History:
Asalia's parents met and fell in love back in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. Her father Aarón comes from a very rich shapeshifter family, her mother Caterina is a human. It was love at first sight, and soon Caterina was pregnant with Asalia - which was when the Alvarez Family disowned their son, and the couple moved to America. Her childhood was dominated by her parents relationship, either loving each other over the top, or screaming at each other at the top of their lungs. This is what Lia grew up thinking what love was like, and chased after passionate burning relationships just like that, which never worked.
At 21, her parents eventually really divorced, Asalia got a major in business, but continued to work in her college job: Being a bartender at the pulse. She lives less than a block away and enjoys her life, living in the moment, not thinking about tomorrow.
Family Religious Background:
Christian
Importance:
Somewhat
Father's Occupation:
None
Aarón was the thirdborn of the Alvarez family, a shapeshifter family which has gathered a lot of riches over the years, and owns a hotel chain. Not being the firstborn, he wouldn't inherit the business, so he was never expected to work anyway, unless he wanted to, which he didn't. Even now in America, he still just lives off the money his family has given him upon disownment.
Mother's Occupation:
Services Caterina worked herself up the career ladder in the Alvarez Hotel in Santo Domingo. She started helping out everywhere, from just cleaning to being charge of the organization. In America, she continued where she started and is now receptionist for a smaller hotel chain in Seattle. Family's Economic Class (while the character was growing up):Upper class
Notable Relatives:
Diego Alvarez - the current owner of the Alvarez Hotel Chain. A very strict, very traditional man with what seems to be a heart of stone - and a very talented Eagle Shapeshifter.
Cecília Alvarez - her paternal grandmother. Lia has met neither, but apparently Cecília is just as strict and hard as her grandfather - but instead with a warm heart that spoils her children to death. Shapeshifts into a lioness, and is known to do so often to impress others.
Manuél Sillas - maternal grandfather, a shoemaker, who is still very proud of raising his four children into hardworking ones. He doesn't know anything about the supernatural world. Óphelia Farrow - one of the younger sisters of her mother, who also moves to America. She lives in New York with her husband and three sons.
Family Traditions:
Her father's family used to be nothing but traditions, but Aarón has been slightly a rebel before anyway. Ever since the divorce, there are no real family traditions, and neither have there really been before either. She meets with both of them separately.
Character's Education:
Grammar school, High school, University
Character's Occupation:
Services Lia is a full-time bartender at the Pulse. She takes orders, makes drinks, thinks of and invents special drinks and flirts with her customers. Yes, that is an actual part of her job description.
Character's Economic Class:
Middle class
Character's Religion:
Agnostic
Importance:
Little
Number of Children:
0 Lia doesn't have children, neither does she want any at the moment, or the near future.
Personal Life:
Relationship:
Never married
While Lia's sex life has always been rather good, her romantic life was been ever lacking. She gets interested in other people, and those people fall in love with her and she takes care of them for a few weeks - but eventually she just gets bored. Even though she crushes so quick, there yet has to be a person that really interests her long-time.
Lia's home is incredibly messy. Working varying shifts from 8-3, or 11-6 she sleeps until midday, and then proceeds to have the day after her liking, until she works again at night. Lia likes to read, especially if she can do it at a cute cafe somewhere. Being an extreme extrovert, Lia gets her energy from being around people, and that is what she does in her free time as well: Meet friends, neighbors, strangers...
Special Talent:
Lia's tiny special talents are seemingly endless. She can roll her tongue, twist and turn it, she can wiggle her ears, knows a few card tricks she learned on the way - but mostly she knows what people want, and she can speak honey dripping words.
Hobbies:
Lia's hobbies aren't really the most original - she likes reading occasionally, but the book has to be good enough. If it is, she can swallow it all in a few days. She likes to jog now and then when the weather is right and sunny, or do some other sport the magazines are freaking out about. But usually it's sitting in cafés, or calling her friends, or even finding strangers to get to know. The world is full of adventure, and they'll find you eventually.
Friends:
As someone who gets to know so many people, Lia has tons of friends, but actually really only two she actually cares about. Her best friend is Mitchell McClare, who is a coworker of hers. Bold, flamboyant, and a tongue on fire, the two are such a power couple of comments and wits and jokes, it annoys the shit out of all the others. Her other friend is Jenny Smith, whom she knows from high school. They were friends back then, sitting next to each other and giggling about boys and teachers, and somehow, Jenny had the patience to keep up with Lia.
Reputation:
Back in college, her reputation was set in stone: 'Slut'. Plastered all over her for her love to have sex, and her love for people, she got stares and catcalled - and she didn't care. Eventually, it impressed people, and times have changed - even if Lia didn't really. There are still quite a few broken hearts on the path behind her, and while she manages to put down most of her lovers gently, some never took it well. "Heartbreaker" isn't common, but murmured around, yet what everyone agrees upon is that Lia is what she loves to do: "Flirt".
Keepsakes:
Lia doesn't really hang unto things, unlike her mother, who still has her baby locks and jewelery from when she was a child and similar, or her father, who has photo albums for every year of her life so far. However, somewhere in her apartment there are socks or bras or boxers forgotten by old lovers, and who knows, maybe one day a new one will be in urgent need of a new bra?
Favorites:
Food: Eggs Benedict on rye with spinach
Color: Red
Outfit: Knotted blouse, boyfriend jeans, nikes
Passtime: Getting to know people
Literary Genre: Thriller
Items: Her Nike shoes - no more backpain at work!
Animal: Panther
Music: Drum'n'Bass
Plant: Palm Trees
Annoyances:
Lia is easy-going and carefree, but if it's one thing Lia hates it's people she can't crack. She's funny, she's pretty - so why would you not like her? And why is it she just can't seem to find the key to what you like? It drives her crazy.
Group Affiliation:
Even though Lia is so much of a people's person, she actually rather concentrates on the individuals, and has never really been part of a group. The only group she really has is in is the "Pulse Crew" consisting of her and her coworkers, who frequently get drunk together.
Psychological
Motto:
"Anyone who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves."
"I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious."
Myers Briggs Personality Type:

Leadership:
Leader - Always takes the leadership role, whether through force of personality or desperate desire to be in control.
Group Role:
Explorer Explorers promote exploration of new and better ways of doing things, to uncover hidden potential in people, things or situations. They break new ground, and are often looking one step beyond the current situation to pursue unexplored avenues, until all the possibilities have been exhausted. Explorers often challenge the status quo and experiment with the introduction of change, to see if the situation can be improved or new potential uncovered.
This role most closely corresponds with ENFP, ENTP Myers Briggs personality types.
For more information, see: The Role of Team Members Margerison-McCann Team Performance Wheel Team Management Profile
Cooperation in a group setting:
Only if something is to be gained
Style of Thinking:
Pragmatist
Pragmatists often show a good deal of humor, a quickness to agree with others' ideas". Unlike the idealist, they don't shy away from conflict but neither do they relish it like the synthesist. They realize it is useful and necessary and they make use of it. They like to experiment and brainstorm and can be very creative.
The pragmatist motto appear to be "Whatever works.". They are not ones for great, long range plans and tend to be short range, practical thinkers. They tend to employ an incremental or piecemeal approach to life. This may be in conflict with someone who has long range goals but the advantage to the pragmatist approach is that it produces demonstrable results quickly.
In being focused on the short term and the quick payoff, they tend to be very creative and innovative. They, more than any other thinking style, realize that even the longest journey begins with a single step.
In keeping with the idea of quick payoff and short term thinking, pragmatists tend to be good tacticians. If you are not concerned about long range plans but need something accomplished tomorrow or next week, the pragmatist is usually the person who can find a way to make it happen. The pragmatists believe in their way of thinking and are good at convincing others of its validity. In this way, they are good marketers of ideas. They understand their audiences and understand how to package their proposals to make them sell.
Pragmatists seldom get caught in the trap of finding themselves stuck with no direction to turn. They are good at contingency planning. If they find one path blocked, they will look for another one. This can often be seen as intimidating by the more conservative elements of out society. Their best advantage is their creativity and ability to cope with change whereas the problem with the pragmatist is their impression of working "off the cuff" or not to any plan or direction. For more information, see The Art of Thinking.
Personality Flaws:
Severity: Minor, not disruptive
Mental Health Complaints:
Severity: Minor, not disruptive
Fears:
Due to her carefree nature, Lia isn't really afraid of much,. but their certainly are some things. Especially fish. She doesn't really know where it comes from, but to her, fish are just evil, and disgusting, and there is a certain reason they cannot live on land. Apart from that, she's not really too happy whenever there's a storm outside, and doesn't like being alone when the thunder comes.
Weaknesses and Shortcomings:
Asalia is absolutely egocentric. Whatever she does, she does for herself, even if it is helping others. That can be very off-putting once noticed. Apart from that, Lia is super messy in her apartment and her carefree nature often gives her quite a lot trouble whenever she forgets appointments and birthdays. Plus, her attention span is very short, and she gets bored so easily.
Hopes and Dreams:
Lia lives in the moment. If she didn't, maybe she would not still be a bartender, or live in a one-room-apartment. So right now, she doesn't really have any dreams, except "staying awesome forever", and she only hopes to not ever lose her job and meet the most interesting and crazy of people.
Desperation:
Lia is desperate for happenings, she simply can't stand it if nothing happens around her. Plus, once she's laid her eye on someone, she is more than desperate for them to like her, and actually gets really frustrated and annoyed whenever they actually don't.
At Stake:
At the moment, nothing really is at stake for Lia. Nothing is really to be won, either, she's just living her life with her stable job, able to pay her rent, good relationship with her parents and no current fling.
Most and Least Self-Serving Actions:
Almost exclusively all of Lia's actions are self-serving. The most self-serving thing she has ever done was probably entertaining and sleeping with Jordan for a while, who is The Pulse's owner's best friend - which she found out via long talks with her coworkers and the owner themselves. Jordan fell head over heels for Lia, and Lia told xir how much she wanted to get a little more money, and how good of a bartender she was. Jordan told the owner, and eventually, after 3 months of going out, Lia got her current position, and left Jordan. Her last self-serving action was talking to the neighbor underneath of her for a while, becoming better neighbors, just because Lia felt like it, and he seemed lonely.
Goals:
Similar to her dreams, Lia doesn't really have any long-term goals. Keep her job and her apartment, that's about it, let life be the party it is. Living in the moment and being carefree, neither does she really have any immediate goals, except for getting those tea cocktails a fix spot on the Pulse's menu, because those are so delicious. Unfortunately, The Pulse is just not that high fashion and a bit more "Vodka Coke".
Prejudices:
Being open-minded and a queer woman of colour, Lia finds it very hard and troubling to be prejudiced, because she's faced so much prejudice in her life already. However, because of her own parents' history, and the shapeshifters she met at The Pulse, she does kind of think they are elitist. Plus, she kind of finds straight and gay people a little boring - why just one gender and sex, when you can have all of them?
Politics:
Culturally liberal, Fiscally liberal, Anti-expansionist, Local power, Apolitical
Beliefs:
In her early twenties, Lia read a lot about philosophy, but by now, she's gained enough experience to have her own theories. Lia's beliefs aren't the most thought-through, since she isn't introverted at all, and doesn't spend a lot of time on herself with her mind. She believes people shouldn't be judged for things they've done in the past, nor should you judge them because you actually get to know them yourself. Even though her mother is extremely superstitious, Lia isn't at all, and neither does believe in horoscopes, nor black cats. Again, while raised by two very practicing Christians - her mother more than her father - Lia has never gotten quite the hang of it. Her parents blaim it on America, especially her father, but as Lia explains again and again, it's not like she doesn't believe in God. She just doesn't know, there might be one, there might not, as an Agnostic, she'll find out in the end, right?
Moral Code:
Asalia's moral code is rather complicated. On the one hand she loves people, believes in making their day, flirting with them, on the other hand she gets bored and just drops them. On the one hand she believes in utter honesty and always telling the truth - but she will always make up a believable story before leaving someone, so they don't feel that bad. She is generally a nice person, but does everything she does for herself. Lia herself doesn't think much about morals, apart from following those she was taught as a child.
Strengths:
Lia is funny. Lia is a people's person, and knows exactly what to say, when to say. Lia enjoys life and is a very positive person, and once she decided on something she wants, her willpower to get it is almost endless. On top of that, she is physically very fit, and has those muscles rocking!
Secrets:
Unless you count where the emergency key to her apartment is, Lia doesn't really have secrets - even that location she has told enough strangers with a "meet me at home later"-wink already. Asalia believes in honesty, and doesn't have enough drama to actually have secrets. Even the daily gossip she is told at The Pulse is being spread by her, so those can't be called secrets, either.
Secrecy about Personal Information:
Open and honest
Emotional Attack:
To hurt this character, one would: Go deep, not let go. Ask her about her parents, about their divorce, about all the bad things, and not let go of the topic, no matter how much she laughs, or yells. Because those things have happened and hurt her, but she's ever allowed them to hurt herself... which does not mean she's over them at all.
Reliability of Memory:
Very reliable
Sense of Humor:
Vulgar
Spontaneous
Light
Physical
Openly displayed
Conventional
Active (makes jokes)
Deviation from Type:
Since Lia likes to go with the flow, there are times when she just says "Fuck it" and acts absolutely out of character. Maybe she thinks she crushes, but upon getting to fully know them, doesn't get bored, but actually gets interested in having them around as a friend. Maybe her friends become so important to her that she might actually do something that is not for her sake, where she gets nothing out of it. Maybe she has days in which she feels like cleaning her apartment. Lia wouldn't like to set herself in stone, so from now and then, those things actually happen.

"Aw, you're breaking my heart all over again, you and your sparkly eyes! I've tried so hard. But maybe my talents just lie otherwhere.",
Lia said, pouting at the woman with a meaningful grin ending in a laugh. A laugh not as cute as her opposite's though, like a small bell being rung. Almost have Lia shudders.

"Not a coffee person, wow. I thought all 'morning joggers' were, 'Don't talk to me before I had my first cup of coffee' and all. Tea then, is it? If you give me two seconds I can conjure something special just for you. Ever had an Iced Green Mojito?"
"I have heard many Russian accents, and that has got to be one of the worst I’ve heard." Yuna laughed, brushing her hair off her shoulder. "But I have to give her props for trying. And, well, I’m not much of a coffee person, you know?"

"Oh, sweet peas, are you sure you're a 'on the rocks type'?", Lia laughed at her customer with a wink, "I say tonight you'll try out something more 'White Russian'. What do you say?", she ended her offer with a pretty bad Russian accent.

Alright. There were quite a few possibilities for her now, in this very awkward situation. 'Old English Polite' didn't work too well on the cashier - contrary to Lia had thought in the beginning. Which itself was rather curious, and kind of sparked Asalia's playful spirit. She could get what the lady wanted to hear within three tries, oh yes she would.
,The first try - high and polite obviously hadn't worked, as the lady was just staring right at her with one of the most blank looks. "Miss, you need to pay.", she said, stating the obvious. Yet there just was no paying without her wallet. Lia cursed herself for not wearing a bra yet, she still had some of last night's tips in the empty padding, she could have paid with that.
Another look at the cash lady. Maybe a little more serious this time. "I am absolutely sorry to misuse of your time, Miss. I am terribly embarrassed this has happened.", Lia started, her eyes urging the lady to say something along the lines of: 'Alright, honey, happens to the best of us. You take your groceries and have a nice breakfast, just remember to come back here today to pay, right, love?'
Unfortunately, her cocked up eyebrow - at least without a judging undertone - only spoke of her manager that was watching all of this via camera. Oh man, Lia would have to cancel it all, go back that block, get the money, and get back here to buy it all again - but by then she really wouldn't be in the mood anymore, and it would be pizza again, pizza all day, all night. Time to push one more button.
With the most apologetic and guilty look Lia could muster up, she turned to the people waiting in line behind her: "Forgive me, I am so mortified by all of this, and - whoa, sweet peas!"
Right behind her in line stood one heck of a babe. Dark, long hair, dark complexion much like her own, just with a more yellowish hue, big ladylike hat, retro style and such a face, such a whole that rang all alarms inside Lia's mind. This girl screamed 'Get to know me' from the top of her lungs.
"My, you're the most beautiful face I've seen in months.", Lia said with a wide grin, her bosom heating up, sinking her eyes in those of the girls. Then another thing rang with her, something deeper in her, closer to Asalia's roots - the shapeshifter side. Non-human. Even more interesting.
The cashier called out for her with a short 'Miss?', and Lia was right back on getting sympathies. "Super sorry to ask you, but could you maybe help me out here?", Lia said to the girl behind her biting her lip, "All my groceries got scanned already, but I forgot my wallet - and now the poor lady might have to do all the work to unscan it... or maybe you could lend me just the 30 bucks? I'll take you right to my apartment, it's only a block away, and I'll give you 10 bucks extra, and maybe a breakfast that could throw you out of your socks. Have your good deed a day checked off by the morning and have a little adventure with a soon-not-stranger-anymore? Pretty please?"
Better Breakfast || Lia & Rosie
When Rosie moved back to the farm in 1970 she learned of how great food could really be. Prior to that, her turner hadn’t really made a point of telling Rosie she could still eat human food so it never came up. And then she had to keep up the idea that she was still a human being. Everything at the farm was fresh harvest from there own gardens, they agree small portions of meat and never partook of processed food. They didn’t believe that was real nutrition.
As she decided to travel, she learned about food from all over the world. Different spices, teas, drinks, pasta. She learned how to make the best dishes from organic ingredients and decided that when she really felt the need to eat something or had company over, that’s what she would use. That’s what brought her to the market that day. A small dinner party celebrating the two hundred days her store has been open. It was a bit silly, but these days Rosie wanted to find any reason to celebrate.
A basket full of vegetables, fruit, substitutes, and other ingredients, Rosie excitedly planned the meal for that night. An artichoke walnut pesto salad to start, then lead into the main dish (seitan piccata, some thing she had just barely learned to make) with a glass of wine, and then to finish off the night she would present everyone with her mother’s world famous chocolate raspberry cake.
She was so excited for this.
As she got into line she noticed the woman in front of her, recognizing her very briefly before tapping her lips and looking at the magazines, toys, and treats, that decorated the lane thinking of the kids that must’ve been playing that day. She swayed her hips as she waited, looking up when it seemed to take too long.

Better Breakfast || Lia & OPEN
Today was going to be a great day.
Lia already knew that when she woke up - sure, the couple living next door was screaming at each other from the top of their lungs, but at least this time they managed to wait until after 12am. Stretching herself in her bed, Asalia stayed in there just staring out of the window. It didn't rain, and she could even see the blue sky peeking out from the rug of mid-autumn clouds.
Getting up was easy, waking up in a good mood Lia fished for the remote to her stereo system and danced her way to the shower, the wardrobe, to refrigerator... which was empty.
For a few days already, Lia remembered, as she looked at the empty pizza cartons laying around on the floor next to her. Pouting at it with a very judging expression, the women finally turned around on her heel and slipped in her light jacket. Day was starting good, she was feeling great, might as well use that to finally get the grocery shopping done.
The couple from next door was lustfully making up in the elevator Lia was riding in, but she still managed to give the girl a wink and a thumbs up. Young love!
The market was actually a lot closer than Asalia remembered, and just as this day started, shopping was pretty fun. Eggs, milk, pancake mix, fruits, the shopping basket was filled and Lia was already imagining all the amazing 2pm breakfasts she could make with all those ingredients, it happened.
"That'll be $31,90, please.", said the lady sitting behind the cash register - and Lia's smile dropped way, way down.
"Oh, fuck.", she blurted out to herself, looked at the lady in shock. Mid-40, kind of badly brown dyed hair, yellowish teeth, but happy wrinkles around her eyes. Smiling her most apologetic and radiant smile, Lia clapped her hands together: "Jolly, I think I have forgotten my wallet?"
