At some point in his life Rin gets a tattoo. But it's actually a seal that he uses to hide Kurikara (and lots of other things) that looks too cool.
Some demon tattoo artists who started working with exorcist to protect themselves are just too good.
A bright red gladiolus
Red - because it's his favourite colour
Gladiolus because it represents him as a Knight - representing the strength he uses to keep Assiah safe. Also the shape of the flower is that of blade
Also the feeling of his passion and love for certain aria.

There is a detail I forgot on my last art and it is Ryuji's specific scar!!!
It is from his rosaries after literally inventing and using a powerful ritual. He overused it on one big mission against Lucifer's allies, drained his chacra because he invented it on a go and had absolutely no idea how much power he will need for the spell. And with that rosaries burnt into his skin to seek for more energy.
At the very least Bon won back the town.

At the beginning of AoEx series Rin asked Mephisto if all exorcists can shape shift the same way Mephisto can (obviously no)
But at some point Mephisto decided the time to teach Rin transform like that has come because he is a strong and capable Nephilim
Rin chose a form of a mischievous raven and uses it to his full advantage.
He is really careful to use this method, trying to keep it a secret so he can use it as a disguise to eavesdrop, spy or listen on closed meetings without being noticed (I imagine it would be during times when True Cross order was still looking for the remaining traitors and Lucifer's spies (cough-Jeremiah-cough). Even Yukio and Bon was left uninformed about it for a long time.
Mephisto even has a bird perch for raven-spy-Rin in his office just in case ✨💜

After AlternaWelt: Blue Exorcist Gaiden second trailer dropped I decided to make Rin a “furry from” and here’s the headcanons I came up with for it
Imagine finally getting control over your flames and not flame up when you sneeze. But instead now your head splits in two literally and you become some sort of beast. Then you told it’s demonic puberty for Nephilims or some shit and he’s a late bloomer because his demonic nature is trying to catch up with the rest of him after being sealed for 15 years.
This transformation is tied to his emotional state at the begging, hard to control and he might need time to “cool off” so he can turn back to normal. This is actually like an “ugly duckling” state of his beast form where he didn’t fully transform and looks like this. And both his human and demon sides hate being like this and he really doesn’t want too many people knowing he can be like this. (They’ll know anyway. Especially Lightning)
Sometimes intense emotions can cause Rin to desynchronise within himself and his demon and human natures take over different heads (while usually when in sync he can even speak in unison or one of the heads can continue/finish sentences after another). Take a wild guess who is who.
