literally a thousand things you could be thinking when a deadly enemy titan is approaching you and every time without fail percy pulls out handsome, familiar, sharp jaw, pretty eyes. nico isn’t even this bad

Nico and Percy’s dynamic in BotL is honestly the funniest fucking thing because Percy’s this emotionally exhausted 15 year old who is the sole person concerned about this feral 11 year old street urchin that wants to kill him…Chiron and the rest of the camp are just like ‘sometimes, children are homeless and they die. what can you do😔‘ and Percy’s just like ‘no???? we need to make sure he’s eating???? and that he’s not captured by an army of monsters???’ and Nico keeps trying to plot Percy’s downfall except he can’t actually come up with a plan because he’s Eleven or whatever and it’s just….remember when you were 15? remember what that felt like? now imagine being 15 and trying to wrangle an 11 year old that’s hissing and kicking your shins into brushing his teeth. imagine trying to tell this little asshole to go to bed before 10pm and he pulls out a fucking sword. how is someone supposed to handle that??? Percy surely doesn’t know! there’s a scene in BoO where Nico’s like ‘I don’t want to eat anything, but I know Percy would annoy the fuck out of me to force me to eat if he was here ugh’ sfkjsdfkj Percy literally had to CONDITION him into acting like a functioning person…and Percy’s inner monologue half the time is like ‘Yes I would kill for Nico di Angelo. Yes he is the worst person I know and I Will strangle him to death one day.’ like he doesn’t even completely like Nico as a person but everyone else is just chill with letting him run around by himself so Percy somehow ends up having to pseudo-parent this goth brat when he’s 15 and Barely Holding His Own Shit Together like….objectively an incredible dynamic lmao

the whole series is good like it is set up PERFECTLY but last olympian really GOES OFF

rereading tlt i noticed how percy used water to reinforce his jump and so the thirty foot impossible jump he did in tartarus could be explained using this logic—except there’s a catch. in tlt he uses ocean water, in tartarus he had just been submerged in the river cocytus which he almost immediately succumbed to and needed annabeth to save him (which says a lot about his mental health but that’s another thing); like annabeth snapped out of it, percy did not. when they were falling, he tried to control the cocytus but it wasn’t responding, yet after taking a dip he can jump thirty, fifty (?) feet without a problem.

it seems like percy’s darker aspects became atuned to tartarus’ essence, or rather, tartarus had an immediate effect on percy and his powers. because as we know there is a darker aspect to percy’s personality, but while he could not consciously control the cocytus as they were falling, his subconscious was able to use the energy gained from the cocytus to make that jump across it. so his subconscious is already aware of this darker side he may be repressing, which is then revealed more and more to the reader the longer percy stays in tartarus. tl;dr dark percy. that’s all

percy in tartarus said "actually ive fucking had enough" and manipulated bob into murdering his brother and tortured a goddess AND became more frighteningly powerful than he's ever been and then rick riordan was like "alright thats enough of writing percy i think 😌"

at the end of the lightning thief luke took percy on a walk and tried to kill him in the middle of the forest and ever since percy has referred to luke as his enemy for betraying him and at the end of the titan’s curse percy took nico on a walk and skeletons tried to kill them in the middle of the forest (which wasn’t a set up by percy but nico thought it was anyway because percy had already betrayed his trust by letting bianca die) and nico immediately declared percy his enemy lol
