My late discovery of Jonathan in the early 1980s on French TV. He added some light in my life at a period when I really needed it

In the early 80s singer Jonathan Richman and I were going to do a kid’s book together. It never worked out. This image is from his song Here Come the Martian Martians.
- Lane Smith
Lane and Jonathan need to get back together and finish this!

Already anti-sexist at a time when male chauvinism (or here, "masculine arrogance") was usual in rock world. I want to hug this guy. I ALWAYS want to hug him each time I see or hear him anyway

Surely THE MOST heterosexual scene in all of British cinema, in all its restored (finally!) glory - Anton Walbrook as Dr Falke dressing Michael Redgrave as Col Eisenstein in Powell & Pressburger’s Oh…Rosalinda!! [1955]

your fave is problematic because he’s a nazi: ULTIMATE EDITION
Anton Walbrook in the propaganda short Information, Please! [1944] which I finally got my little paws on this year (and I didn’t even have to sell a kidney)
so to quote myself from this post from flippin 2014 I did of my TOP FIVE YFIPBHAN
IP is a WW2 propaganda short film about a suave charming Nazi officer (guess who) getting information out of captured RAF pilots. This film does exist because I have seen it with my eyeballs on the big screen but as far as I know has never been released on vhs or dvd/streaming sites/bfi archive. WHICH IS A CRIME BECAUSE ANTON WEARS GLASSES AND IS DEVILISHLY DEBONAIR and I think I still have bruises from where Jools was gripping my arm when we watched it last year in Vienna. It also has John Mills in it, sometimes I trawl John Mills dvds on amazon looking for extras, just in case. That is how much I want this film. I would sell a kidney for this film.

So I finally figured out how to do screenshots from my Criterion Collection copy of IKWIG. These behind-the-scenes photos from Michael Powell’s personal collection were too good not to share. I just wish they were better resolution. Hopefully the other Roger Livesey fans here appreciate these as much as I did because KNEES and KILT!!! Also, I have no idea what’s going on with those bowler hat shots at the end, but I am here for it.
