I made a Console-Style Splatoon Font
I had the idea to make pixelated console style versions of some of the Splatoon fonts and I started with the Alterna script
You can download it if you want to use it!
I based it off of the Fixedsys font, which is a computer font you're probably familiar with and also happens to be the oldest font that was part of Windows

Me and my friends were arguing about this last night, so I figured I'd see if you have an opinion on the matter: is Inkadia a country, or a province within a country?
the 鍦版柟(region) in the jp name of inkadia (銉忋偆銈儵鍦版柟) makes me think it's part of a larger country... but that begs the question of what that country could be and if it's in the same country or a different country from the splatlands. definitely not dead set on this tho lol we know basically nothing about splatoon world politics

New multiplayer and Splatfest music has been added!
Spring Fest will be added once that Splatfest happened.
I also made some edits of the new OtH tracks with reverb and ambience noise to make it sound more like in-game for fun
I uploaded every Splatoon OST
A while ago I made a post where I shared my rip of the Splatoon 3 OST, and I decided to also upload rips off all the Splatoon CD鈥檚 that were released in Japan, which I just finished!
You can download it here from this Drive
In addtion to the rip of Splatoon 3鈥瞫 OST, that鈥檚 CD rips of Splatune, Splatune 2, Octotune, Splatoon Live in Makuhari and Splatoon 2 Live in Makuhari.
These rips have all been uploaded as flacs, so you鈥檒l get the highest possible quality from how the music is found in the game files or on the CD.
I also tagged all of the music and added the respective cover art so it looks neat as well! I also went back to the Splatoon 3 OST upload to add tags and improve the order of the tracks for the Hero Mode music.
Splatune had already been tagged by @kerfuzzle_ who later recommended the Metatogger software to me, which is a super neat tool to tag music. I went and tagged the rest of the albums, and added the composers to Splatune.

Thank God splatoon 3 didn't end up introducing a playable cuttlefish dlc like I feared last year (I honestly don't think we need more new playable species, would've been too sudden, my expectations were on the floor after rotm) but the cuttlefish visuals are still so suspicious to me. This hat has to be on purpose. That's absolutely not a fucking squid or octopus
And this is undeniably a cuttlefish (and the double fin shape resembles the hat)
Like how the lack of mammals in the splatoon world and ark Polaris was something suspicious in the previous games, and characters like marigold and Glen fiddler and lil judd are suspicious now.... It's way more subtle but I think this could be the splatoon team planting some seeds in case they decide to introduce cuttlefish as a separate species in the splatoon world. ill be keeping it in the back of my mind
#I remember also thinking it would be DLC foreshadowing#but I could see it being hints towards the next game still.#also I'm kinda neutral towards Cuttlelings. If they handle it well and give a proper story reason for it it could be cool

Marina's Dev Diaries: localization differences
yeah so I just read through all of Marina's Dev Diaries in Japanese while cross checking it to English localization, just to see how faithfully translated it is and....
GREAT NEWS there's like no significant changes! Like there's the expected minor moving things and wording it different to flow well in english of course, but in terms of overall meaning and characterization its very faithful.
I'll cover some minor changes I found but like. again these are so minor it doesn't really matter.
4th Entry
Localization: "Poor Pearl doesn't know what to do with a free moment anymore. I'm always catching her bouncing with anticipation."
JP: "Pearl is always bouncing from side to side whenever she has a free moment"
This is a reference to Pearl's side hops she did in octo expansion to get hyped and charge her special...this was localized to her "warming up her vocal cords" for the sake of story and the english version just refuses to acknowledge the side hops thing which is. minor inkling biology tidbit at most but eh whatever

localization: "I'll handle system management myself! And I think user guidance would be a great fit for Pearl."
imo in JP marina seems more certain and enthused about pearl being in charge of user guidance? I considered not adding this to this post it's barely noteworthy. pearlina crumbs ig

Localization: "All that experience making training stages from my days as a tutor at that training program is about to pay off!"
JP specifies that Marina tutored at a Takozones training program.
What's really annoying is that Takozones are just called something like "Rival Octoling" or "Enemy Octoling" or just "Octoling" in english, but they're supposed to be a specific rank of elite female octoling soldiers. this is just a longtime issue with how muddied octarian classifications are between english and jp lol

Localization: "Pearl is joining us too. She doesn't seem to get what it's all about, but she's usually down for whatever. Together, the two of us will make sure Eight gets through it safe!"
JP: "Pearl is joining us too. With her being like "I don't really get it, but 'cuz it sounds like fun I'll go!", us two will keep Eight safe!"
This is a super minor change but it's cute getting a quote from pearl where she sounds actually hyped for it vs a "yeah ig shes down for it"
Acht's Letter 1
Localization: ""You should be diligent and dedicated, like a true Octarian!" I heard it so many times that it turned into white noise."
I just wanted to share a pun here that doesn't translate
instead of "white noise" Acht says an equivalent idiom of "I got calluses on my ears (from hearing the same thing over and over)" The word for "callus" is homophonous with "octopus", tako. lol octopus jokes

A thing I like to make besides comics is custom cassettes, sometimes! I made the Omega-3 tape for a friend a while back, but I JUST now got around to making the Dedf1sh one recently after meaning to for A Goddamn Minute
The Acht tape is a continuous mix @ardnin made and posted to Youtube, I've been in love with it for ages and if you're into weird Splatoon music you ought to give it a listen here.
The best way to listen to cassettes is in low quality, of course, so here's a short video of the Dedf1sh mix through my oldass walkman and my newass headphones.

I updated the Drive with the new, complete rip of the OST, check it out!
Since the track order is different now you'd have to delete the old files if you already downloaded them.
Also keep in mind the track names of music which isn't given in the jukebox in-game are not official, I just made them up
I uploaded the Splatoon 3 Side Order OST
I just added the Side Order OST to my Splatoon 3 OST game rip which you can look up here
As always these are direct rips from the game, converted to flac and normalized.
This rip also includes the overworld and tower foyer tracks which had to be recorded in-game since these tracks are not stored as music files but rather - from what I understand - the game mixes these tracks live by having each instrument emit its sound from the visual elements that represent the sound.
To make it special I recorded these tracks in surround sound and then tried mixing these channels with a spatial audio mixing tool to emulate the "3D" effect from each instrument playing from a different location. (Mind you I'm not super experienced with mixing like that so it might not be optimal)
I also uploaded every other Splatoon CD release if you're interested!
Edit: I am very stupid and was looking only in the folder within the game files that had the Jukebox versions of the music and not the folder with actual Side Order data. That would be the place where the Elevator tracks between floors would be, which I completely forgot here. I'm gonna add these soon. It's also likely the different segments of the hubworld and foyer tracks are there.
