It's been a looooong while.
Got a job and need to fix my finances, so took me a while to get back.
A lot of things happen, but I realized we can always start anew.
Same with what I think "The Promised Place in our Early Days" meant.
The Promised Place in our Early Days
A work of Makoto Shinkai
🍀
"We’ve lost the place of our promise in this world, but even so, our lives begin now.”
🍀
Has there been moments in your life when you're into your goals then suddenly you stopped doings things to achieve it?
For unknown reasons, we might stop doings these things even though we love doing it.
Reasons can be diverse - logical or not practical or not, personal or not.
I still find it hard to explain what does this movie would like us to realize as it seems very open-ended, but I know the impact is significant to every one who have watched it.
Disconnect to re-connect.
The universe will conspire to your will; the greater fate that you have been thinking and wishing all along.
The pieces will come together at the right time.
We just need to be willing to start again to continue what we have promised to ourselves in the early days of our lives.

Wolf Children ED: Mother's Song
Performance: Ann Sally
Lyrics: Mamoru Hosoda
Music: Takagi Masakatsu
'May I meet you soon,
my yet unseen child,'
I always wished as I stroked my belly
Fuuu~ fuuu~
I wonder how your face looks like?
Fuuu~ fuuu~
I wonder how your voice sounds like?
I see myself reflected in your big eyes
as your tears trickled down your cheeks
'Mama, mama,
come, I'm finished with my food!'
'Ta-ta-ta, ta-ta-ta,
come, let's go out for a walk!'
You hugged your knees,
crying out your eyes
Tell me why, I'll listen to everything
Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere
No matter what happens, I'll be with you
I love your face when you laugh
Even when you're down,
please try to cheer up
'Ru-ru-ru, ru-ru-ru,
come, let's sing a song'
'U-o-on, u-o-on,
come, shout your hearts out'
Ki-ra-ra, ki-ra-ra,
may you grow free from care
Run through snow,
count the clouds,
play in the rain,
get blown by the wind,
get buried in flowers,
make your grass flutes sing
with your four legs,
with your two legs
A new morning,
a new wind,
prepared just for you
A new morning,
a new light,
a world just for you
A new morning,
a new rainbow,
a world full of wonder
No matter which of the
two roads you choose,
I would probably no longer be
able to gaze at you from afar
Someday, when you set
out on your journey,
I'm sure I will see you off with a smile
U-u-u, u-u-u, but perhaps
I'll be a bit lonely
U-o-on, u-o-on Please,
live strong my child

Almost every war initiated for gold and glory starts with this phrase. Seems very historically familiar, right?
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

"The pollution lies in the earth itself."
- Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Chaos took place when deathly spores took the world by storm. Earth inhabitants battled with one another as they try to save themselves. They brought out the monstrosity in the insects protecting the cavern beneath the Sea of Decay, turning pollution to pure crystal with no harm. Indeed, pollution lies within the earth itself.

"Too much fire, and nothing will grow. Water and wind sustain a forest for a hundred years." - Gol, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
The people of the valley wanted to save their forests. Their princess believes in the use of the Earth's healing power to support greater number of life forms even though it will take time. On the other hand, others insisted on the use of fire to immediately wipe off the Sea of Decay - the image of destruction, without knowing life is being renewed beneath it.

Whisper of the Heart
0 notes
I have been wanting to do things, so I tend to kinda start thinking and planning about it, and then suddenly I stop, because I think it won't really turn out good.
Whisper of the Heart reminded me that if I need to do something, I should really learn how to do it, so it will not remain as something that I just "want" to do out of frustration, or from a sudden motivation to feel productive, to be something or someone, to prove something to others or for myself, and to know I am worthy.

"We plant trees. Human tear them up. The forest does not come back."
- The Apes, Princess Mononoke
This is a little reminder that the forests existed before humanity, but a part of humanity has devoured it selfishly. What nature has given birth to the Earth soil will be hardly replaced by human efforts.
