alright guys im curious. who were the worst mutuals youve ever had

Jesus.#I have two that are pretty neck and neck I think...#They should all be blocked and not see this......#One was an ex-coworker who had very mean humor and also turned out to be panphobic all while knowing I was panromantic. So I found out when-#-she reblogged something on Pan visibility day. I immediately started ghosting her after that. But I still had to work with her for a few-#- more months. She also didn't understand trans language and assumed I was being a fetishist which was?? odd.#Second was an art friend who ended up saying reallly strange and hurtful stuff about one of my identities. Not intentionally directed but-#- obviously I could still read it. After a certain point I just left and unfollowed because I had no energy to read it anymore.#In short I be making friends with people that actually just hate my guts!👍 (Intentional or not it doesn't matter it still makes me sad)#Tag games

a good rule of thumb when you see a new "slang" word going around that you're unfamiliar with is to look it up, especially in relation to AAVE. (it would be a good idea to also do this with words you already feel that you're familiar with, just to catch anything that may have slipped past your awareness before now.)

there are easily accessible masterlists of AAVE words and phrases and if you go into a search engine and put in "[word] AAVE" you can usually pretty quickly find out if it's appropriated AAVE or not. with that said, even if it's not AAVE, it does not mean it is automatically okay to use! other cultures exist that should not be taken from willy-nilly, and there's many other aspects of language that should be considered. is the word you're seeing historically connected to slavery? is the word you're seeing connected to colonialism? is it connected to substance abuse? is it connected to mental illness? is it connected to abuse? misogyny? homophobia? ableism? etc etc etc. "etymology" is a helpful search term for looking into the history and origins of a word.

language is important, it is powerful, and while language can change, it's good to be mindful of where the words you're using are coming from. if a black person or other minority says "hey don't use this word", then you should not only stop using the word but look into it yourself! find out WHY you should stop using the word, read up on it. there's many resources already out there if you do a little bit of looking for yourself.
