i mean i do live my life as if i'm already 80 years old looking back at the present moment as if it's already gone and the happiness is already spent and i will never feel something like it again and there's a poignant sadness that underpins every single thing i do bc of it. but i'm fine really

You do this one thing, you return home a changed man, an honorable man? Just like that?
Yes.
I wish I could see the new you.

i love reading medieval literature because it will be like "here is a knight that has lived in the woods absolutely stark raving mad out of his mind eating dirt for three years. we are not unpacking all that. anyways the next day he decides to go on a journey of redemption after gaining momentary mental clarity and now he is using the stupidest moniker known to man and now he's fighting a giant." and this all happens in the span of like 50 lines.

I think we The Green Knight fans should be as annoying as Die Hard fans about insisting that it’s a Christmas movie

yeah sorry but your boyfriend got into a christmas game where he beheaded this supernatural knight and now he has to get the same blow returned to him in a year and a days time. and now he’s making out with said knight & his wife before he gets beheaded. yeah no he definitely didn’t need to behead him in the first place

With Winnie-the-Pooh and The Battle of Hastings sharing an anniversary today, did you know that E. H. Shepard once drew this amazing scene for an exclusive book bag?

kind of obsessed with the conlang invented by 12th century composer and mystic hildegard von bingen. she called it lingua ignota and just sort of never explained why it exists or what it’s for? like. girl. why did you do this
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in case you’re wondering what was up with her, like, in general, she was an abbess who was (1) politically influential, (2) chronically ill, and (3) plagued by visions.
but like seriously girl WHAT was the conlang for. TELL ME

Okay, medieval horror literature - WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE???
I mean, I've seen medieval horror movies. I love folk horror and I've read my share of mysteries or adventures with medieval settings and the odd short scary story, but I did not know medieval horror was a genre unto itself.
The History Buff and the Horror Geek living in my brain are dancing what feels remarkably like an unholy tarantella....or perhaps it is St. Vitus' Dance....and oh dear, it appears the Insatiable Writer might be crawling out of her crypt to join them.
Pictured Titles:
Howls From The Dark Ages (ed. McMillan and Forse)
His Black Tongue (Luthi)
Grimoire: Dark Fiction & Horror Anthology Volume 1 (Luthi, Werner, et al.)

the gods are so real. the gods are so real and they love you. if you're looking for a sign that the gods are holding your hand, here it is. they are here with you. they are looking for a way to help you in the best way possible. stay strong, it's going to be okay.
