30. LAST BUT NOT LEAST
Rank your classmates. Make a ranking of all the people in your class, you decide on the ranking subject (for example: date of birth, alphabetical order of birth places, number of letters in their last name, hair colour from light to dark, etc.) and make a video representation of the list and your own place in it.
I choose to rank the hours spend on social media (instagram). This because I am triggered by social media usage and got inspired after watching the documentary The Social Dilemma.
Social media is ‘not real’ and not touchable just as time is untouchable and not really present. How could I visually translate and use this resemblance?
Something digital? (untouchable) Then I thought of the sun and reading time when looking at the position of the sun. When using Instagram, we miss out of our environment, we miss out the sun and hours we could spend in real life. That’s why i visualized how much sun all my classmates are missing per day.

29. SELF-PORTRAIT
Look at the family portraits of artist Gillian Wearing. Create a self-portrait as one of your family members.
Self-portrait as my sister Esli de Wit
What stood out to me is the way how Gillian Wearing create these realistic masks for portraying her family through herself. Is is a physical illusion. Portraying another, but looking at her eyes it’s still her own identity.
The eyes tell you it’s her.
So I first tried to make a physical illusion, using 3D material as mask and to shape it into the facial features of my mother. When that did not worked as thought, I tried to visualize the idea of talking eyes, portraying my little sister.

28. WIPE IT OFF GOOD
Failure: Create a campaign for your “tic”
One tick of mine, which I had as a small child, is to wipe my nose to everyone and everything around me, no matter what or where. (I grew out of this habit don't worry)
Everyone finds this disgusting, nasty, inappropriate. Speaking in today's time, I find the dialogue very interesting concerning this old habit doing years later and the COVID epidemic.
This campaign promotes keeping your nose clean the easy way, regardless of your surroundings, rules and opinions.

27. THE POSTCARD
Describe yourself as if you were a product that people can purchase.
What product am I? With what product could I compare myself to?
I though of things as a frisbee, parfum, shoes, a fire, a needle. All these products could say something about me. About my characteristics, my values and features. But then I came to a product that also stands close to myself at hart. A postcard. I love giving and receiving cards, to share something loosen from technology and appreciating time and present.
This description I visualized in a poem.
The postcard I am a postcard. Making people happy. Loose from technology, prefering personal contact. Always traveling from A to B, never staying for too long on one spot. I could be emotional. I could bring small gifts. I have something to tell you. Messages to share with you.  See me from the outside and read me from the inside. To foster relationships.

26. LET IS SNOW
Draw a child memory (1 visual)
Tumblr media
For this assignment I dug really deep to find a glimpse of my childhood memories, but also reflected on general child memories. I choose to work with my personal memory ‘data-bank’ to create something personal with depth. There are a few events and memories that stand really close to me. Sad ones and warm ones. This one memory I want to highlight, which gives me all the true warm feelings of home and family, is the one memory I have from a snow fight with my family at home, at our farmhouse. Is is winterbreak, almost Christmas, and this year a lot of snow has fallen. It is evening and already dark. My dad turned on all the big lights outside to light up the grounds in the snowfall. We all went outside, including our two dogs, and played with the snow for hours. Making huge snow-mans and ourselves into snow-mans. It was a special moment in my memory. To have this fun with the whole family.
- I played around with the old feeling, how it is graved into my memories and how it is visually not all clear. They are fragments of memories that merge, that’s why I played around with collage techniques.  For me this visual tells the whole story.

25. THISCOVER
Mix two App or social media programs with each other and create a completely new service out of it.
So I research for apps that interests me, apps that I know or am familiar with. By thinking of combining and mixing two social media programs, I thought of way how I could create something new that would be really interesting to exist. Something I wish would be on the market.
Personally I am really into music and discovering new songs and genres and meeting new people around me. That’s why I choose to mix up the programs; Spotify and Happn.
The new app: THISCOVER
- Discover new music -
THISCOVER is a free location-based mobile app by which people using the app can share their (favourite) number. Users get matches based on locations where they have crossed paths with each other. Users of THISCOVER can discover new songs from others out their surroundings, when liking a song, it gets automatically added to their special playlist.

24. Find an image of a specific protest that speaks to you. In-text provide context to the protest with the year, location and why it resonates with you.
NOVEMBER 2019 - NEW YORK
This visual protest of the brand CHNGE really got me triggered. Since that I live independed in this big city of Rotterdam, I often am confronted to verbal discomfort on the streets, by which man don't see me as a person but more as an object to fish at. We woman are no property, nor a piece to show off. I am all mine, a human with own voice, thought and will. Not yours.
What is said on the T-shirt: I feel connected to this protest on a personal level. Walking on the streets in Rotterdam-Zuid. Being unashamedly checked, being catcalled. I am a woman, a person and no object to fish for. I am a woman, not owned by anyone nor a piece to show off. I am a human with its own opinion, thought and will. Not yours. All mine.

Recreate a performance of Guido van der Werve or Ragnar Kjartansson and record it in the same medium as them.
This one work of Guido van der Werve called Number zeventien - Killing time, reminded me of how I experienced life during the Covid-19 lockdown. Trying to kill the time inside the house. So I recreated the view out of my house, how I would kill the time as Guido. (bu making this I was aware that my interpretation is very different from the real meaning behind the work)

My version:

But then I thought...what if I wouldn’t have this luxury? What if I would we a bum? Homeless in these times of a critical crisis? How would I recreate this performance then?
So I tried it differently.

But because I am showing a different side, of how life could be from the other side, what about using negatives?

21. THE SHADE
Watch the film Paris Is Burning by Jennie Livingston and write a review for it.
Paris is Burning is a very intriguing and inspiring documentary.  It's real, it's exploring, it's meaningful and powering. A real eye-opener.  It is painful to see that people can not freely express oneself about their being and sexuality and that this community is built on pain, but also beautiful to see a community as like a family, inspiring, thriving and growing each other.
Most of this culture was new to me, evoking, but exploring the aesthetics and 'realness' of ball competitions, with all its own vibes, is definitely recommended by watching this documentary.

TAKE A WOODEN CHAIR DEEP INTO A FOREST. LEAVE IT THERE AND PHOTOGRAPH IT.
I read this as; take a ‘human-made product’, still consisting of full natural elements and place it back into its natural surroundings, giving it back to nature. The material is the same, but it will never go back to how it was, to its natural form. You kill its nature, manipulate it, and place it back.
Notice this contrast. Notice humans weird manipulative influence.
Like giving butter back to a cow.
Like hanging wooden coat hangers back on a tree.
Like giving water based popsicles back to the waters.
Like giving a cooked, painted Easter egg back to the chicken.
That’s why I am photographing these different views.
To share how I interpret this briefing.
First I tried to give an cooked easter egg back to a chicken, but since living in the city this is quite challanging.

I wasnt satisfied. The boundry between us was not what i wanted tovshow.
Edit:
Process of finding a cow in the city. And? Nothing. Visited Dordrecht and contacteer different farms but no green light.

2nd edit:
I visited the floating farm at Rotterdam and learned a lot about this invention and company. Here is got the chance to photograph my cow!

18. DIGITALESSON

18. Photoshop yourself in a cultural landscape you aren’t familiar with and give an online class about it in a short movie of max 2 min.
I went on search for cultural landscapes and surroundings and soon stumbled upon different surroundings with deeper philosophical meaning and traditions. These surroundings cached my attention, especially the Kii Mountain Range, in which I deepend myself with knowledge to share in the means of a digital lesson.
In this lesson we go hiking, because the surroundings are familiar for it. It is digital, pretty cold, glitchy and pretty hard to follow, just as how I personally experience digital education.
My inspirations for the way of creating were the zoom meetings I attend, Freek Vonk and the presentator of the deadliest 60

17. HOMEXPO
Because of Covid-19, I choose to visit an art-exhibition digitally.
I came across this one exhibition online about death.
This digital exhibition was fully flat. No walking around, just reading and observing. This is what I missed about this experience, the spatial experience, tactility and a deeper personal feeling to an object.
So I tried to visualize my experience, by which I express my wish for possibilities in art-experiences.

16. Take a sheet of paper. Write down the worst way you ever hurt somebody. Go outside, ask a stranger for a light. Burn the paper. Return the light. Explain nothing.
Worst way I hurt somebody?  Hurting both parties by taking distance of a loved one, for a better good. Mind over Matter. Burning something you rely on, like the parachute of a parachutist.  Burning something you rely on, like my own heart and intuition. Leaving empty handed at the end, but experiencing it as a positive. To be filled again with something new.

15. guess where I am?
Tumblr media
When visiting this unknown place, I walked at places I never have seen before. I observe my surroundings and lived in the moment for this day. I didn't make many notes, with the intention to create something out of remembering and own interpretation. So came the idea to create my interpretation of how I experienced these surroundings, catching the things that stood out for me.
It turned out as a map, the route i walked, with all that cached my eye.
