This her aspect may have something in common with Atsushi, but Izumi's dark past is also reminiscent of Atsushi.

Lucy was raised in an abusive orphanage. 

She had to wear the same dirtied clothes every single day for each year, forced to wash dishes for a whole day with her hands dipped in the cold water, and was punished using a piping hot iron poker. 

This was proven as there is a permanent scar from the past abuses.
