He glanced at the mark on his hand, the old wound made the skin dry and itchy. Another reminder, another weight.

If he tried just once again… Maybe trying that magic… thing… would he be able to track them?

He came back from the diagnostic to two new things: A fallen raider, baton clenched in hand. And half of his face lying a few feet from them.

The detective didn’t wait until the visual sensors captured his partner. The ragged breathing approaching him was familiar. Keeping as much as a straight face as possible - which was easier now -, he sighed:

- Ooph. ‘miss anything?

The frame sensors burned to their touch.

This is an *hilariously* self-indulgent piece as it has all the tropes, themes and textures I enjoy painting: Contrasts (size, color, height, costumes), faces, armor… So I took my time to make a fun, polished picture 🏛

Eden bathed, resisted the urge to double the pain meds and struggled to slid into proper clothing. Then made way to Cerberus. After making sure the hound was recovering and well, she headed to her bosses’ quarters. She found herself facing two high-rank leaders sitting at a high desk and discussing the terms from a small pile of papers nearby. Contracts. Standing between her and the slightly uncomfortable leaders, Titan towered above them all. A minuscule cup of tea cradled in his hand.

“Eden,” one of the leaders interrupted, “congratulations on your new guardian.”

The demon exhaled, menacingly glancing back at them.

“If you agree to the terms, that is,” added the second hunter in a rush, as if the sentence was a single word.

Someone saw my characters and asked if they had a written story somewhere :´)) This is super cool. ♥ I do have a draft somewhere and have been revising and translating it lately. Unfortunately I doubt it will read in a very natural tone, as the original isn’t in EN and I’m meh when it comes to English fluency. But I’m doing my best to make things fluffy and enjoyable nonetheless. :)

I tend to retreat a lot into my own characters, stories and writing. And these have definitely been months that asked for a retreat!

♦ Some bits on Titan’s backstory ♦

1st portraits come from a WIP showing Titan’s whole armor. ♥ Also some contrast between the mask, his vulnerable expression, and a more hardened/serious face.

The last portrait has some years already, but I still use it as an example of how he looks like in the current fashion, at the time he and Eden are working for the Hunter’s faction. Titan can easily pass as a… Very large, strange and intimidating human. :´)

As a centuries-old demonic manifestation of a warden, he has gathered many powers and memories. Among these are his other-worldly strength, limited flexibility to change his size (useful when fighting whatever gigantic horrors the world has thrown at his Temple!), his supernatural connection to his armor, and an ability to easily heal wounds that would be mortal to any human.

Sometimes, though, an old wound shows up from under his garb: A scar, circling around his neck, back from when he was young and had just started living and working in a temple as an apprentice. His tasks were to tend to the plants, animals, cook, meditate, study, care for the elder workers or entertain the visitors.

Turns out that before being (perhaps mistakenly) understood as a pure war embodiment, Titan had a much more caring role and life that shaped his core persona. Characteristics that others ignore when observing him is that, primarily, he is a guardian and caretaker, and also a demon responsible for transformation and changes.

So to gain his favors you’d want to focus on his other more nurturing roles first. Not everyone is able to see that–as, for many years, before meeting Eden, he’d most likely “greet” visitors in full-armor, weapons at hand, pretty much ready to expel anyone from his grounds.

Back at his former life, he didn’t have much sympathy for the old generals and aristocrats that would visit the Temple. He was considered an attractive, ideal young man, and it wasn’t rare that men and women from higher hierarchies requested his company to eat, debate or to try to romance him.

Although keeping fond memories of good friends and lovers from those times, he used to try to keep out of the higher-citizen’s way and tend to the plants, relics and animals.

Prepared a more thorough concept showing Titan’s full armor.

Also a visual scheme on how much he is able to alter his size! Which makes a lot of sense when other demons or angry human mobs are constantly trying to overtake your home.

The garb is heavily inspired by ancient Rome armor (specially the pteruges - the skirt -, sandals, mantle and helmet, which is known as a Galea. The “muscle armor”/plate is seen in Greek examples, and also in Roman statues, but I might be mistaken in this part of the research.)

The chest plates can be detached, so there is some flexibility for him to bend and move. The carvings tell a story about his life and role in guarding the Temple.

Titan rubbed her wrist, palms and fingers protractedly, with the care and attention he would take when handling a ceramic relic. His touch usually made her feel like she had plunged into a warm bath, after a sore day. His gestures alternated between lightness and firmness, and Eden could not say which of the two partners liked it the most.

They usually took turns to initiate touching each other, be it for comfort and friendly gestures, or to mend wounds and inject painkillers. Sometimes they talked about limits, experimenting with new things, or about what they’d feel like if others saw them - the consensus being that they didn’t care much.

Quarantine day 60: I’m officially turning all my anatomy studies into Titan x Eden

I also took advantage of Titan being able to change his size to just go ‘whatever’ in maintaining any sense of scale between them. :´)

First Encounter

Eden felt the split bones and the taste of dehydration. Her vision mostly blacked out, and she could smell only the dry pavement, dust and a hint of Cerberus nearby.

Blanketed over her was a recurring impression from other perilous missions and trials - that the pain would never end.

Then came a feeling of peace, despite everything.

Temple of the Two Gates

A bunch of scavengers decides to explore and loot the Temple. Had they been experienced and a bit more well-informed about the area, they’d know the place is heavily guarded by demons and a possible, rarely seen, gigantic leader.

Titan avoids killing and relies mostly in injure and scare tactics – unless the trespassers kill the Temple residents or cause too much damage. He is aware that his praxis is at a fault, though, as releasing invaders means they’ll most likely be tempted to return later.

And yet, both Titan and the Temple have stood strong for centuries.

Today I bring a Warhammerino

My relationship with Warhammer has always been very… internal? No one I knew was into it and I was absolutely unable to buy the miniatures, so I’d resort to reading info here and there. This started when I was a teen and deep into world wars, uniforms and the military. I’ve moved to other headspaces since then, but this shaped me and my work a lot.
