my hot water has returned. at long last. after 2 weeks of broken boiler. ( I got a new one. it was not enjoyable for me or my bank account. )
so now that my hands aren't numb with cold in my own home, mayhaps I will do some writing soon!!!
guess who hasn't had hot water in a week and won't for another week!!!

super specific vent about physical disability shit.
it's ok if all you can do is xyz, you're doing your best, sit down if you need to, do x if you need to
I know all of that. it's an essential mindset to live like this. I know.
but I don't WANT this to be my best. I don't want my day to be 'dyed my hair and showered' and that's it. I don't want to be shaking with the physical effort of taking a shower. I don't want to have to sit in the shower, stand to get out, and immediately sit again. I don't want to sit there in my towel when I want to be standing up drying myself. I want to stand up and cut my nails or apply a lotion or SOMETHING. anything. I'm so tired of being tired. I'm so tired of the physical consequences of doing NORMAL things.
and yeah, it's not my fault, and that's just how it is, and I shouldn't compare myself to others
but this isn't me comparing my face to someone else's prettier face. this is my experience being physically objectively worse, and me wishing that it wasn't.
it's been maybe 15 mins since I got out of the shower and I'm still shaky. all I've done is dry myself off while sitting down, move to my room, and get half dressed.

nano update: it's going very well and my brain has not melted yet!
quick post to say activity may be weird for a month ( and has already been weird for a month bc planning ) because na.nowr.imo is happening!! i'll still be here. but writing will be limited to things that the brain decides it will produce relatively easily. if it requires more braining, then it may be delayed until after nano.

I've been pretty damn sure I was bi since I was like 15. and then like a year ago I was like "....ace????" and now. now i'm wondering if I may be aro as well???? I did not schedule this identity crisis for this week thank you very much, if this was going to happen my brain could've at least looked at my calendar and booked a slot for it when I'm not busy!!!!!

today. I almost made a VERY GRAVE ERROR. almost. before I share the story, know that I did not actually make the error and therefore my professional reputation remains intact.
so, I was working from home today. I had a meeting, which meant I would have my camera on. the meeting would have quite a few people in it, including my manager and some people that I supervise, along with a few people I've only met/spoken to a few times. today was very cold, so I decided I would wait until my meeting and make a cup of tea just before it, so that I could drink it and be warm during my meeting.
so, my meeting approaches, and a few minutes before, I get up and go to make myself a cup of tea, grabbing the first mug I saw. I made my tea, everything is fine, and I'm just sitting down at my desk with the tea and am about to join the meeting.
seconds before I click join, it occurs to me that people will see me drinking my tea. which means they will see my mug. the mug which was the first mug I grabbed.
the mug my friend got me as a joke gift after we watched ds9 together.
the mug that has a picture of julian bashir on it, and The Foot Quote. you know the one.
thankfully, I did not click join, and therefore had chance to quickly go and pour my tea into a different, inoffensive mug. but the knowledge of what almost happened haunted me for the remainder of the meeting.

one thing about both of my muses is,, they're both very dramatic sometimes. and don't get me wrong, they both absolutely have reasons to be upset a lot, both have awful traumatic histories and hugely impactful struggles going on. but. sometimes they both are really quite dramatic with things that don't need that level of drama. and both work very well in pairings of storm cloud muse x sunshine muse. both have their sunshine moments, especially about specific things, but on the whole, they're more storm cloud.
garak is worse for it, I would say, because it's never 100% clear whether he's being genuine or not. he might be dramatic on purpose about a particular thing to achieve some goal he won't ever tell anyone about. but also, he might take offense and get up and go and sleep on the sofa because his partner wouldn't let him sleep in the exact position he wanted to be in, entirely seriously ( when I say this I don't mean he's about to break up with them, I mean he's going to sulk for a few hours ) and it's times like that when he really needs snapping out of it. that's where he needs the sunshine half of the pairing. because if he's snapped out of it, it'll be fine. he'll enjoy the very Cardassian approach of his partner directly opposing and battling his mood, and if they come out on top, then his sulking will subside. the problem is when the other person decides to engage with his bad mood, and talks softly and carefully to him while he sulks silently and crosses his arms and refuses to say anything on the matter. what he actually needs is for the mood to be completely subverted, not sustained.
morse is less of the taking offense and storming off sort, but more of the turning everything into a sad poem in his mind sort. he loves his poetry, and that's all well and good, but he can and will think himself into a depressive spiral just from sitting and looking out of the window mournfully. he's very, very prone to that. he's an if left unattended, may generate reasons to be sad sort. he needs his partner to snap him out of that.
I think for morse though, this takes less sunshine vibes than garak would need, because he can sort of be snapped out of it just by not allowing him to just sit there with his thoughts? he'd respond to being distracted and invited somewhere, whereas garak will just sit and ignore, or go and hide in his shop and refuse to engage. he sort of needs his dramatic spiral of misery to be interrupted without warning, so he has no opportunity to choose not to engage.
so anyway,, if we ship or you would like to ship with either of them, have this!! let me know your muse's approach, also. because that's fun. and if you're one of a very small number of people who know both of my muses, hi!!! I appreciate you for being able to understand when I talk about both of them!!!

when i revamped both morse and garak i did actually intend to start new stuff, but my chronic illness has decided to cause trouble so that did not go to plan :( so please take this as a meme call!! indicate who you would like memes from and we can use those to start some new threads bc that takes less energy than coming up with starters.
