Dae blinked, grinning awkwardly as the other man entered the room, dipping into a half-bow out of instinct. "Oh, hello. You, uh—you don't know me. Or, well, probably not, at least." He slipped into the seat on the other side of the glass, nodding. "I'm Dae-eun, I'm an...investigative journalist? I'm here in Marina working on the murder case at the moment, and I wanted to ask a few questions. If that's okay." He smiled, almost sympathetically in a way. Sorry about this. Won't be long.

Dylan's feet drag along the cemented floor as he begrudgingly follows his appointed security guard to the visitor's room. He's tried several times to refuse having to go, but apparently he's not even awarded the luxury of being left alone in jail. How fucking ironic.
The security guard pushes on the door to the visitation area and Dylan's eyes scan the room for his legal representative - who could barely be classified as a lawyer, but finds someone else entirely. Confusion flashes across his face before he hardens it again, as he's led to the chair opposite them and urged to sit. He waits for the guard to take up his stoic position by the door before he bothers to speak. "What the fuck are you doing here?"

"...thanks." iseul nodded as they quickly slipped their way into the seat next to the woman. "sorry," they muttered, "there's, uh. there's no other seat available." they shrugged. "i'm just here to order and i'll be out of your hair." after a moment's silence, they nodded to the empty milkshake glass. "any flavor recommendations?"

"Just keep them coming," the empty milkshake glass pushed gently across the countertop as the server gave her a new one. Terra didn't know a whole lot about grief, but the empty feeling in her gut feels never-ending. Isabella... Alma... Daniela... Stef... Atticus.. She was never much for alcohol, and she didn't want her brain doing weird shit if she got high - it seemed the next best thing was drowning it all out via some kind of dairy coma. "--- yeah, whatever, seats free." The newcomer hadn't asked, but the way they hovered a little made her assume as Terra kicked out the seat beside a little more.

Born Kang Iseul on July 10th, 1999 in Chicago, to two loving parents with one older sibling. Their parents were incredibly supportive of them throughout their coming out, and they are eternally grateful for the opportunities that they got that they are acutely aware others did not.
[tw: homophobia / bullying / harrassment] When they were sixteen, they realized they were nonbinary after watching their sibling go through the same type of thing when transitioning. They began experimenting with a more feminine style and even makeup, before settling on a more androgynous presentation. Despite their family's support, it was rough, and they were bullied a lot for it. They had to deal with a great deal of bullying throughout the majority of their junior and senior years, only getting relief when they left the school system shortly before their senior year. // end tw
Iseul was a dancer when they were young, and it was and will always be their first true love. They specialized in contemporary dance, and it was their favorite thing to do. Dancing comes as naturally as breathing to them, and it's something that they feel very lucky that they've never had to work at. Everything else, on the other hand, has not.
[tw: broken bones] Unfortunately, when they were about 19, they fell during a routine, rolling their ankle severely. They broke a bone, and that was that. It never quite set right, as they didn't realize it was broken until it was too late to set it properly. They wouldn't be able to dance the same way ever again. // end tw
Not being able to do the thing they loved anymore cut deep to their core, and the only way that Iseul could think to relieve themselves was to move away. They decided to try Marina, as it was far away from everyone and everything they knew, and while they haven't officially made it "permanent," they don't see any signs of moving back any time soon.

BACKGROUND:
Nam Dae-eun grew up in Marina and Boston with his [younger/older] sister, [open connection!], and their two parents. When their mother left, the family moved to Marina. Dae didn't really care for it there, but stayed until he was done with school and could move back up to Boston.
He was always a very curious kid. Most of the children his age at school didn’t care for him all that much—they found him annoying, but Dae-eun didn’t understand why. He spent a lot of time hanging out with his sister; otherwise, he hid his nose in books.
Their father was a very successful lawyer, and generally very caught up with work. Their mother left when they were young, so the two were primarily raised by nannies and each other. Because of this, Dae tends to be a bit of a worrywart when it comes to his sister.
His writing excelled from early on, even his earliest essays receiving top marks. He knew from a young age that he wanted to be a journalist and never wavered, ending up going to Emerson on a full-ride scholarship.
He finally achieved his dream career at 23, at a popular newspaper in his city.
After a couple of years, he became the chief journalist at his station, the youngest to receive the title in years.
He decided to move back to Marina to try and reconnect with his sister. Ever since he moved back, he’s been renting a tiny house in Locke Row. (He'll get something better eventually.)

They first picked up a tattoo needle when they were seventeen and have been teaching themselves ever since. They didn't trust their craft enough (being self-taught) to actually go into business, so instead, they continue to doodle tattoos in their free time. Their favorite thing to tattoo is stars.
They have a younger sibling—their mom had a child before she met their father—who was very much a goody-two-shoes, so they were always known more as the bad kid. Smoking, alcohol, you name it—the only thing they never touched is drugs. Can’t stand the stuff.
Because of this, they were despised by their mother, who was constantly frustrated that they were never the "perfect girl" she wanted. Their dad treated them like his son, and taught them everything they know about cars. They gravitated towards him, even quitting their underage smoking after he talked to them about it.

He turned to look at something, a car flew across the intersection—the next thing Kell remembers, they were in the hospital. Their childhood was boringly average. Their grades were on the lower end, and they were regularly outshone by their younger sibling. They felt like they were never enough for their parents, and so they decided to ignore them altogether.

They have a normal (read: very gay) obsession with swords/sword imagery.
They would be more than 100% willing to sit and talk art symbolism, astronomy, and/or philsophy for hours with you. It's the easiest way to distract them.

"Rude." Kell rolled their eyes at his comment, nudging him harshly with their elbow. "Watch yourself, buddy," they teased, wagging a finger. "Or you'll find out just how scary I can be." They wiggled their fingers in a way reminiscent of some horribly goofy vampire.
"You're about as terrifying as a baby bird, Kells," Rafe chuckled quietly to himself at the mere idea of them terrifying anyone. "Settle down before you hurt yourself or some shit."
