Fresh Out The Slammer

I heard that guitar and was ready for “There is. A house. In New Orleans.” haha

I loooove both the melody and the rhyme scheme of the part that starts “another summer, taking cover” and all the parts like it. It’s so good. I also love the way the music all comes in right there at the first part.

The “now pretty baby” etc. part is not my favorite, nor is the phrase “fresh out the slammer” it just doesn’t go with the rest of the lyrics

Also love that after “imaginary rings” there’s a little break for the Swifties to cry, it’s very thoughtful of her

Verdict: Mostly delicious with a weird crunch

I find myself deeply annoyed in a way I can’t easily articulate

However. I may be making the classic mistake of “songs in first person are always actually about the artist”. This could be a theoretical story about fictional characters, not, I don’t even know, it’s weird.

Maybe there’s some four-layers-deep symbolism that I’m not getting

“I’m having his baby. No I’m not. But you should see your faces” I’m sorry. I’m sorry, but no that’s dumb
