"you don’t have to stick around really, my break starts in five minutes and i wouldn’t want to burden,”
She accepted the drink from him with a small smile. “Thank you. Ah, I see.” Mirae gave him a sympathetic smile as she took a small sip from her cup. Everyone had those days where everything just seemed to go wrong. “It’s fine. I needed a break from testing my powers anyways.” Mirae recalled the incident that had happened earlier in the day. Her friends were never going to live it down. “You’re not a burden. Not at all.”

Glancing upwards, she just stared at the other. She merely nodded at him, her way of acknowledging someone she wasn’t familiar with. She watched him flail and make noises for a bit, before deciding to speak, thinking that he probably forgot the word. “Something silver for your hair? Can you describe it a bit more at least?” She glanced at her phone that was sitting on the counter, before focusing on the other
“ h-hello. ” xiang bowed in greeting as he entered the store, approaching the person at the counter in the hopes of getting some help. “ d-do you sell … uhm … ” xiang’s heart sank a little as he suddenly forgot the word in korean. he had never been the best at learning anything really, languages proving to be the most difficult challenge. as the word escaped him, he continued to make noises and flail his hands around in an attempt to explain. “ they’re … for your hair … silver … aiyo … ” xiang slipped into chinese in his anguish, sighing and looking defeated. “ n-nevermind. ”

“Yeah, it is! My question is where the heck did you get it from?” Mirae stared at the other, sure she saw a girl carrying it around earlier in the day. She also remembered seeing the same girl running away without it. It seemed suspious at the time, but Mirae had other things to worry about.“Did you take it from someone?” She looked at the pillow, with an eyebrow raised. “I’m pretty sure I saw someone with it earlier.”
“ some girl gave me this, isn’t it cute ? ” kit mused, holding the pillow up in front of him as he giggled at its silliness. he recalled the earlier events with slight anguish, since the girl had given him the gift as a way to confess her crush on him, which made it slightly more awkward as kit didn’t return her feelings. though, the boy wore a warm smile still and politely turned her down. that didn’t stop him from keeping the pillow, though. she clearly had no intention of wanting it back as she ran away in embarrassment.

Glancing at everything and everyone, Mirae noticed something. She watched as the stranger handed the wallet to a male, shaking her head in disbelief. She wasn’t going to stop it because she had been far too late. Instead, she made her way over to the male with something in mind. What she wasn’t expecting was collide right into the other. “I just wanted to say you stand out too much.” She said, staring at him. Her words were vague and the other could interpret it however he wanted. “That was a really bold and dumb move.”
it wasn’t that mj had forgotten his wallet, it was more a matter of he hadn’t bothered to bring it. it wasn’t difficult for mj to obtain money by other means, although he couldn’t be bothered with the effort of stealing right now. using his power was an easier bet. as he walked down the street, he managed to subtly pull a stranger to the side. before they could react, he spoke to them calmly, the power flowing from his tongue and into their ears. “ you want to give me your wallet, right ? ” he watched as the other’s eyes went into a clear daze, as they nodded and handed over their wallet without hesitation. mj pocketed it quickly, whispering a quick “ forget my face. ” before hastily leaving. mj suddenly collided with another person. as mj straightened up and stared at them, he wondered whether they had seen what had just occurred.

She watches him whisk away the cup that had been in her hand. "Uh, can I get an iced coffee?" The other looked stressed out and she felt sympathetic. He probably had a bad day. "Yeah, I can tell. You had quite a day, huh?" She stares at him for a bit. "You want to talk about it when you're on your break or something?" She offered, wondering if this was a great idea. “Even though we don’t know each other, it can help at least.”
“I’m so sorry about your order, I’ll get it fixed I promise, free of charge.” He smiled brightly taking the cup from them before pouring it out in the sink behind him and throwing the cup away. “Um what was it again?” Though he was smiling, Chae was visibly stressed, his day had been absolute shit, and though his break was in ten minutes he felt like it was taking forever. He woke up late for work today, unable to shave and adequately brush his hair, he couldn’t find his clean uniform shirt and had to opt to wear the one that had a coffee stain on the side of. “I’m sorry I’m just…it’s been…it’s been a day.”

“You know, that’s not wise to say that out loud,” Mirae says after the student left, leaning against the doorframe. She watches the professor, amused by his words. “You made the choice, you deal with the outcome. You shouldn’t regret that choice though.” Shifting her weight from one foot to the other, she observed the professor carefully. Wasn’t he the fashion design professor? “Uh, nevermind. I probably shouldn’t be saying things like that to a professor.”
“ okay, see you next class. ” jen bid farewell to the student he had been talking to. or rather, the student that had been talking to him and he had been pretending to listen to. after the first couple of words, jen tends to lose interest in what others are saying. the moment the student walks away, he frowns to himself. “ i really .. shouldn’t be a teacher. ” he spoke out loud. jen was way too irresponsible and self-centred to care about teaching others. especially fashion design, where he refused to step away from his own design aesthetic. it was because teaching was the only way to get out of the hell he lived in in seoul. did he regret it? a little.

Hello everyone!!^^ I’m Siren. Just message me if you want to plot with Mirae!! Anyways, this is my bab, Mirae and here are some things about her!!
History:
Mirae’s father died when she was only seven and he was the only person she trusted bc the rest of her family were liars and manipulative (not her siblings and cousins tho)
They told Mirae’s father that Mirae’s mother was a thief, ironically her father steals money from her mother and somehow he realized they were lying to him, so he told her mother not to trust the family
Her father passed away and that’s when the abuse started
Whenever Mirae did something her mother didn’t like, her mother would hit and scream at her
She would sit in the darkness of her closet sometimes and oddly enough, she felt comforted by the darkness
Her siblings (encouraged by their mother) would too hit and yell at her
This went on throughout elementary (her siblings stopped before junior high bc they realized what they were doing to her) and the end result was that she couldn’t trust anyone and she became aloof to push everyone away
Things got a bit better for Mirae, but some things remained the same like the fact her mother still abused her (it started happening less)
She accidentally discovered her main power after trying to mimic a move (i’m so creative XD) she saw on TV and got really freaked out and because she got too emotional, she accidentally shadow swam using her brother’s shadow when he wasn’t looking
High school came and for two years she dated a guy [potential plot!!] before breaking up with him and they’re on bad terms now
she still loves him tho but she doesn’t say anything about it
Somehow, the government found out about the siblings and their powers and they voluntarily went to Jaeneung University bc they wanted to leave
Powers:
Darkness Manipulation - Mirae can create, shape and manipulate darkness and shadows (anything she creates from shadows is weak in comparison to creating something). She has can do a lot of things in the dark (but if it’s morning/day, be prepared to see a useless Mirae). Powers that have to do with light can either be effective or useless against her(it depends on the person).
(Complementary) Lunar Manipulation - It’s the same thing as Darkness Manipulation except it has to do with the moon/moonlight. The amount of power she has when using this is tied to the lunar cycle(ex: if there’s a full moon in the sky, she’s powerful. If it’s new moon, she’s screwed.)
(Complementary) Prescience- She has instinctive foreknowledge of incoming events (meaning she knows someone’s every move and intention before someone decides them).This is rendered useless if she’s unable to act quickly or change someone’s decision.
Personality
Mirae can be aloof and quiet around strangers and people she doesn’t trust. She can’t trust people easily which is why she’s like this at first. Mirae doesn’t trust others easily because she grew up in a poor environment.
Even as a child, she constantly went out by herself. Enigmatic, her smile can be deceiving and she rarely shows her true feelings which is why no one can know what she’s truly thinking at times.
She is the most level-headed and tries to be the shoulder for others to lean on, though she has difficulty understanding the emotions of others at times. She’s not afraid to voice her opinions to anyone though, and is often the first one to speak up if something doesn’t agree with her.
Mirae is displayed to be blunt with her words, choosing logic over emotions when accomplishing her problems.
Presnt day life
• Mirae’s in the Art club and School newspaper
•Studying Astronomy (her major) rn and studying psychology as a minor
• She’s more happier here than at home and might become the next astronomy professor
•She feels accepted here tho she doesn’t show it
