Krishna River, Sangli

I currently work for a private Indian bank. For my second transfer posting, I was transferred to Sangli, a semi urban city located on the banks of Krishna River in Maharashtra. I don’t get close to people very easily. During weekends, I used to run to my family living in Mumbai. But the COVID-19 Pandemic changed it all. Since I was stranded here, I got closer to my colleague, who soon became one of my closest friends. Before the lockdown, I only used to get out of my house when there is a necessity. But after the initial restrictions were eased, my friend convinced me go out and explore with him the city I had been living in for months. He first took me to a nearby ghat in Krishna River. I was instantly awestruck seeing its beauty! I felt a calm and cold breeze against my face which took away with it all the sadness and worries of my past life. After that day, it became a habit for me to go and sit near the banks of the river even on days when my friend wasn’t free to come with me. Even though I have now been transferred to Mumbai, to where my family is, I will always cherish the beauty of Krishna River. And I will never forget my friend, to whom I will always be indebted for forcing me to get out of the house for a change.
