“You promise not to betray me?”
A laugh was clamped down behind pinched lips at her friend’s question, as if that was the most ridiculous concept the young girl had ever heard. “Cross my heart and hope to fry,” Kailyn signed, a vigorous nod accompanying the hand and finger movements in case any details were lost in translation. “Promise,” she whispered, for good measure. “You’ll be safe here, no one ever comes here.”
While true, the reasons for it would probably have been obvious to most -- the soot and moisture stained walls, the creaking rafters, cobwebs and quite likely other critters of the multi-legged variety about, but Katie saw all those things as exactly the kind of things that would keep her friend safe. She’d dragged up a few blankets, pillows, some portable lights and, of course, a rather wide array of snacks stuffed into one of the pillowcases. She was intent on being the best hostess she could. The young girl had also brought an old, cracked vid screen that her mom had never actually sent off to be repaired, a few toys, and some chalk and butcher paper. She didn’t know what her new friend liked to do, yet, but she wasn’t sure how long it would be before she could sneak back -- and she didn’t want Kara getting bored.
“I can stay a little bit now but I have to be home when Mom comes home from work. But look --” She tapped a few of the buttons in sequence on the device, pulling up a chat screen. “You can talk to me here, all the time.”

Quick reminder that in general my plots past season one lean more towards the book side of things than the show’s second season – which is not to say that season two didn’t have it’s good qualities I just really preferred the plots and characterizations in the book and the show went pretty divergent on some of those so…
If you haven’t read the books don’t worry about it we can just sketch out some brief plot points to go with and make our own story past season one!
All that being said, my Trepp is solely book based and I will be using Scarlett Johann.sen from The Ghost in the Shell for the face claim for Trepp because (while she may not have suited the movie as an accurate rendition of the manga…) she definitely looks exactly how I pictured Trepp when I read about her so…

Were the tears real? Oh, of course not. Long ago, Jade had been trained not to let the tears fall, even when it felt impossible to hold them back. These days, however, she used them whenever she wanted to. Whenever she knew it would continue to get her what she wanted.
Laurens loved the tears when he was in one of these moods. The kind where he wanted to know he’d hurt her, not enough to kill her, just enough to make him feel like he’d done real damage. Something that made him feel strong, which meant it was something that kept him on her very special leash. She wouldn’t lose that, not for anything in the known worlds. He was special to her. Not in the way Petra was, but special, nonetheless.
Bruises had already begun to mottle the skin of a soon to be discarded sleeve. Her face stung from the slaps it had taken. A delicious ache spread along her limbs. Tears streamed down her face, made her look even smaller, more delicate, more easily broken. They both knew she wasn’t exactly easy to break, but that wasn’t the point. It was all about making him feel like she was and, she could tell by the way that his body shuddered, that she had.
“Don’t–don’t stop–” she breathed through the perfect trails of tears that made her eyes shine, “Hurt me again. I need it.”

For once, Jade hadn’t discarded the bruise covered sleeve right away. Instead, she put those bruises on display. Wore them like little badges of honor. It kept Laurens and Petra happy when she did little things like this, made them feel like she belonged to them somehow. As if she would ever actually let that happen. Still, it was good to give them that, to let them feel like the owned some part of her.
Lips curved up slightly as fingers slipped across the bruised flesh of her wrists. “Mmm, so I’ve noticed. You seemed to enjoy yourself quite a lot last night.” It wasn’t much, comparatively, but she’d allowed Petra to use her as she liked. It could have stood a bit more creativity, but the girl really was just learning how Jade liked things. There was no doubt in her mind that she would get better at it as time went along.
“Perhaps you should kiss them, pretty girl,” she offered up one of her many bruises, “Show me how much you like them.”
