Breaking the myth that modern day silent comedy historians created about "the 3 greats". This is how one of the top film magazines ranked comedians in 1920. In modern silent comedy history books you'll never find the truth about Al St. John. This is only one example. If you dig into period material, this is what you'll find: Al St. John, one of the most successful and popular comedians of the era. There's a lot of cleaning up needed. Not only St. John's legacy have been ignored. We have a whole lot of performers who need to get their history corrected. If we fail to do so, lack of interest will eventually erase them from our film history and their work will be forever forgotten and destroyed. * Photo of Al and uncle Roscoe in 1916. Al was already a famous comedian with his own starring series for Keystone Triangle.

I want to know more about Al st. John, where do I start? Where is the best place to dive into the world of Al?
Hi,
If you have Facebook you can follow my project. I'm writing a biography on Al, as that's never been done before, and I am searching for his films in order to restore them for DVD. A entire collection is going to be released. There will also be a website. Until then, this TUMBLR is the place with most information on Al.
Here are links to my Facebook Al St. John pages:
