its been said before but that wish u were my master/ill be ur servant exchange is so insane. i wish i could listen and obey your worries abt bahamut but the empire comes first. i wish i didnt have exorbitant power over you and that i could prioritize your needs. if i wasnt forced to make the decisions that hurt you and i, maybe I would let myself fail practicality once. nothing can change outside of this moment.
versus and this is how i remain close to you and how i can still help you. i gave up my own military prospects to be here. this is the only thing i can say to make u feel like this societal arrangement is okay. you will not change me or get rid of me under some notion of fairness. i wont challenge your orders, even if theyre misguided, but ill ensure they succeed. what the fuck

"In a historic “first-of-its-kind” agreement the government of British Colombia has acknowledged the aboriginal ownership of 200 islands off the west coast of Canada.
The owners are the Haida nation, and rather than the Canadian government giving something to a First Nation, the agreement admits that the “Xhaaidlagha Gwaayaai” or the “islands at the end of world,” always belonged to them, a subtle yet powerful difference in the wording of First Nations negotiating.
BC Premier David Eby called the treaty “long overdue” and once signed, will clear the way for half a million hectares (1.3 million acres) of land to be managed by the Haida.
Postal service, shipping lanes, school and community services, private property rights, and local government jurisdiction, will all be unaffected by the agreement, which will essentially outline that the Haida decide what to do with the 200 or so islands and islets.
“We could be facing each other in a courtroom, we could have been fighting each other for years and years, but we chose a different path,” said Minister of Indigenous Relations of BC, Murray Rankin at the signing ceremony, who added that it took creativity and courage to “create a better world for our children.”
Indeed, making the agreement outside the courts of the formal treaty process reflects a vastly different way of negotiating than has been the norm for Canada.
“This agreement won’t only raise all boats here on Haida Gwaii – increase opportunity and prosperity for the Haida people and for the whole community and for the whole province – but it will also be an example and another way for nations – not just in British Columbia, but right across Canada – to have their title recognized,” said Eby.
In other words, by deciding this outside court, Eby and the province of BC hope to set a new standard for how such land title agreements are struck."

questions 1, 11 and 14 for your lovely moon godlike watcher :)
thank you so much for these asks, I love talking more about my boi!! I'm sorry it took so long, and warning: it gets long dhsgdfhdf
what is your watcher's class? how does it relate to their backstory?
Amias is a Cipher in PoE, and a Seer (Cipher/Ranger) in Deadfire. The latter is an amazingly fitting title to sum up his backstory as a Mystic from the White that Wends. To elaborate:
The Glamfellen clan he was born into is deeply tied to Rymrgand & Ondra, so his birth as a Moon Godlike was seen as divine providence. They believe that Moon Godlikes are sent by Ondra in especially tough times to comfort & alleviate mourners (a sentiment I adapted from a comment of a Huana npc in Deadfire), which was only proven further when his mother died in childbirth. So while Amias' arrival was seen majorly as a godly sign of compassion & goodwill, some worries for the clan's future were there, because Ondra sending him now could mean that more dire times were ahead of them.
This spiritual significance quickly put him on a pedestal by the entire clan, which only grew over time, because starting from childhood, Amias was very psychically aware, to the point of receiving visions.
They weren't always clear and relied a lot on interpretation, so the people looked to the elders, soothsayers and Amias himself to interpret them and guide the people in the way the gods 'intended'. This cemented Amias' position among his community as their future oracle.
He was taken under the wing of the local Cipher and animancer named Senná, who schooled his psychic powers in both the soothsaying and combat aspect. From then on, Amias was involved in all sorts of important rituals and events, because people asked for his divine guidance. Amias tried to tell the truth as he saw it, but he quickly learned that it was relative, and that the people's emotions and thoughts he sensed were the biggest wildcard of all.
People gradually began to fight amongst themselves because of their differing interpretations of what Amias saw, and that caught the attention of other clans as well, who wanted Amias' prowess as an oracle and as a "mourning / good luck charm" for themselves. It got so heated and disarrayed that in the end, Amias fled his home one night without a word - unwilling to be used as a prop any further, and hoping that his absence would finally be the thing that brought them the peace and fortune they all wanted.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As to why he becomes a Ranger later, that's for two reasons:
1) It fits his upbringing in a culture that's very focused on scouting, hunting and herding. He knows how to survive in the the harshest forms of the wild, and is very in tune with nature and its creatures. He's also a sharpshooter as well! He's very focused on precise, hard-hitting attacks. The skillset and flavor just matches him to a tee.
2) During his time between PoE and Deadfire, he found an injured stag around Caed Nua and slowly nursed it back to health, fully intending to return it to the wild once it healed. But it decided to stay, because during their time together, they'd formed a soul bond, so Amias named his new companion 'Attis' and they spent those 5 years together. When Eothas killed them both, it was only Amias that was able to return for good. Yet their bond was deep enough that Attis can be called back to help out for a short time as a spirit, and that's how Amias became a Ghostheart Ranger :)
11. who are your watcher's least favorite companions?
This will be a very common answer haha, but for PoE, it's Durance. He doesn't hate him, in fact, Amias emphasizes with his struggles with Magran and is actually very interested in learning about the Dyrwood's recent history and Durance's & the gods' role in it, but...Amias really dislikes people that are full of themselves; ones who boast how righteous they are and how everyone else is beneath them. And Durance is just really unscrupulous, haha.
So, while there's no "active" animosity between them, Durance is the companion that Amias keeps the most at a professional and rational distance. He likes them challenging each other philosophically and and is glad to help Durance out on his spiritual journey, but for everything else? Ehhhhh....He wouldn't call him a friend.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For Deadfire, I'm not quite far enough to know for sure, but I can already see some tensions with Maia, as well as with Pallegina.
With Maia, it's about her dismissal of the Huana; Amias identifies with the Huana in part of their closeness to the gods, as well as their lifestyle and culture. It reminds him of home, and he quickly recognizes that if the White that Wends had any resources that were deemed "desirable" (like luminous adra) and the land was easier to navigate for outsiders, they'd be in the exactly same situation as the Deadfire is. And generally, that's why Amias is quickly ticked off by Maia's attitude and calls her out on it, which makes them have a bit of a troubled friendship - because they do generally get along well, and are even pretty similar in some ways.
With Pallegina, it's about her hatred of any show of piety. Amias goes through a long journey of self-discovery and growth with the gods which I won't elaborate on here, so it's not the hatred for the gods that doesn't sit well with him, it's the hate for the people who still believe and honor their traditions. Because of his upbringing and general attitude, he thinks that worship isn't about whether it's right or wrong or warranted, it's about what good it can do. He sees it very culturally intertwined, and to mock and dismiss that history because "it's all fake and a powerplay" disquiets him. I have yet to see how much this will impact their friendship (because they also DO get along, they're both VERY duty-bound, stoic and righteous people), but I'm excited to see where it goes!
14. what is your watcher's opinion of iovara?
Complicated! She was his sister in another life, one that he loved and resented more than anyone else back then. He tries to separate these feelings from his present self as much as he can, but it's difficult, because they're so, SO intense. A part of him yearns to shelter and care for a version of her that's long gone (the baby sister that looked with him for the gods in the stars), while another only wants to see her suffer further (the false prophet and the traitor, the pure waif who's loved by all while he was cast aside; she who wants to break the world order - one he worked so hard and committed unspeakable crimes for).
For a quick moment, all these past feelings win over when she tells him the truth about the gods - it breaks his entire world view, again. But this time, he's not alone. He's far from the desperate past self that had nothing left to live for but Thaos and his mission. Amias catches himself; he might feel resigned and directionless, but his mind is clear.
In the end, he pleads for her forgiveness, and she gives it, which absolves him of a trauma he didn't know he had - and he, knowing very well that nothingness can be a mercy, offers her absolution by allowing her to rest at last.
They both managed to give each a semblance of peace, despite everything.

just a reminder to COMPLETELY boycott Eurovision this year; Azerbaijan and Israel, despite committing genocide, are STILL allowed to compete & have NOT been banned. by refusing to ban both countries, Eurovision is profiting off of the genocide of Palestinians and Armenians.
do not listen to the artists. do not pirate or stream the artists' music, and this applies to ALL the artists who are competing and performing this year. do not listen to the songs on ANY platform, do not give them ANY attention.
write to your broadcasters and tell them you REFUSE to watch the channels until they recognise the Armenian and Palestinian genocides & that you find it disgusting how they are allowing Eurovision despite Azerbaijan and Israel's entries.
do NOT give eurovision OR the competing artists ANYTHING but silence.
boycott ALL of eurovision.

Maternity kits, medical threads and scissors, water testing kits, anesthetics, mobile desalination units, etc do you see the pattern? Israel is not only starving the people of Gaza but it also wants to ensure the spread of disease through contaminated water and surgical tools, as well as ensuring injured Palestinians suffer through horrendous pain.
It's beyond sickening.

The U.S. will use its veto power against a Palestinian bid to be recognized as a member state of the United Nations during a vote at the Security Council expected to take place Thursday evening. Vedant Patel, principal deputy spokesperson for the State Department, described as premature an effort by the Palestinian Authority (PA) to gain member status at the U.N. He said there was not unanimity among the Security Council’s 15 members that the Palestinian Authority had met the criteria for membership, with unresolved questions over the governance of the Gaza Strip, where Israel is in a war to defeat and eliminate the controlling power, Hamas. “And for that reason, the United States is voting no on this proposed Security Council resolution,” Patel said.
Earlier it was revealed that the United States was secretly pressuring other members of the Security Council to shoot down a Palestinian state membership so the US wouldn't have to use its veto as that would lead to a wave of local and international criticism for Joe Biden.

I keep thinking about the part in Pluto where Helena asks Dr Tenma of all people how to process grief. It's almost comical how she asked the man who was so legendarily bad at handling his own emotions that he managed to fuck up bereavement TWICE: once via attempting to replace his dead son Tobio with a robot simulacrum that was destined to fail at being the son he lost, and again by failing to realize Atom was a child worthy of love in his own right before he was already gone and living with family that already understood this. This is Tenma's ultimate tragic flaw, he is a genius in all ways but how to not be a total disaster with his own emotions.
And yet, the advice he gives Helena is perfect. He tells her to do what humans do: to cry, even if it's an imitation at first, and that eventually with enough practice it will be real. And he does so with the context that's what HE had to do. He had to LEARN to express grief in the normal human way until it became natural to him. And you get a glimpse for a moment that maybe he's such a genius of engineering real artificial intelligence, because he's coming at it from the same place as these beings he's creating. He knows what it's like to struggle with the darker feelings that plague the human mind, but are so essential to its existence that they must be included in a machine that is intended to fully emulate humanity. He understands that even if these feelings torment us, they can never be ignored, or cured with some kind of replacement for what we lose, or simply erased from our minds. He's the perfect one to understand these things because he's done it so catastrophically before himself.
