It was early in the evening and Liv found herself wandering around her flat. With Maude and Bella out there was nothing else to do. She’d spent the last few days with her sisters and now they were busy with their own mates. She thought about phoning Pip but decided against it. She couldn’t see him again until her head was on straight. Not that being with Pip was a bad thing. It was the total opposite and that was what scared her the most.
Liv grabbed her jacket and a pack of cigarettes, probably belonging to Bella, and headed out the door. She found herself walking aimlessly around Bristol. When she looked up a small smile came to her face. Liv walked over to the railing and leaned against it, staring at the pier Alex had once brought the whole gang to. At least they were all civil with each other back then. She pulled out a cigarette and placed it between her lips. It was then she realized how lost she felt without Alex. Liv hadn’t done anything for herself since the day she left. No University, no job. She missed him and that was for sure. Liv tossed her cigarette into the water before turning to walk off. Sulking wasn’t going to get her anywhere.
What was the next step today? He couldn’t use his cards because this couldn’t be something random. Seeing Liv again was something he needed to do soon, and he was not going to wait anymore. He left that cheap motel he had gotten for the night, but this time he made sure he hadn’t forgotten a shirt. The search for Liv had begun and he wouldn’t stop until he found her. First stop was her house for sure. He was pretty excited about this, but his face expression changed once no one answered. He knocked again and waited, but stil no answer. He sighed, took a paper with all the places she could probably be if she was still in Bristol and crossed this place. And Alex kept walking, even asking some folks to see if they have seen her, showing a picture of her, no luck this time.
He soon found himself near the lake. He looked down, building courage to get closer. His gran was here, living forever, being happy with his dear William. He nodded and walked towards the pier and saw a familiar figure, damn right it was a pretty familiar figure. Alex grinned and hid behind a tree nearby. Luck was with him after all, all the time. She was ready to leave so this was the perfect moment.
Thank you Gran, always guiding back home.
He stared as she walked and took his die out. “One to three, I just walk to her. four and five, I give her a surprise and six… I try and find her another day.” He whispered and smiled to himself. Taking a deep breath, Alex blew on the die on his hand and a broad smile curved his lips up. He rubbed his hands together and walked behind her, carefully. Once he was close enough. He stood next to her.
“Good morning my lady, I was just wondering… if you had to choose a number, from one  to six… which one would you pick?“
The voice made her heart flutter. Liv had to find the courage to actually look up. She didn’t want to be disappointed just in case the voice didn’t match the face. She furrowed her eyebrows as soon as they made eye contact. She chewed on the inside of her cheek to hide her excitement.
“Isn’t six always run away?” She grinned. Liv reached around and hugged Alex, squeezing him as hard as she could. He was there in the flesh. It was unbelievable. “I missed you you fucking idiot.” Liv let him go just to hug him again.
When she finally pulled away Liv wiped the tears from her cheek. She attempted to laugh and shrug it off. “I’m not crying because of you. I’m crying because I’m sober.” She giggled and took a deep breath. “When did you get back?”
Alex waited for a moment, trying not to smile but it was nearly impossible. He tried to find her face since she took her time to look up. Once she did so, she looked up and he finally saw her eyes again. It had been a while but her gaze transmitted more happiness than the last time he saw her. Alex nodded and then shrugged, letting her squeeze him since he squeezed her too, even managed to lift her from the ground. He wasn’t particularly strong but the excitement helped.
“I missed you too, Olivia Malone. Do I have another reason to be here?”
He didn’t indeed. His gran had been hauting him and maybe she had made him decide to come back, but she wasn’t here anymore, not phisically since she was everywhere. Now Alex couldn’t help but smile widely. He pulled away when he heard a sniff and lifted his brows.
“Are you crying? Are you really crying? Wow, sensitive girl.”
Alex touched her cheeks and chuckled. It warmed his heart to see her so happy. But yeah, maybe it was because she was sober, who knows? He rested his forehead on hers.
“Yesterday. Well, I’m not really sure. The jet lag is driving me crazy. First thing in my agenda was searching for you. Thai girls are not really up for the Whore Wars, you kow? Let’s make you happy. Morning drinking, good idea, aye?”
“Drinks? You’re paying.” She grinned and locked arms with Alex. It was surreal actually having him next to her again after so long. It was going to take Liv a little while to actually get use to it. They walked passed a little shop and Liv stopped short. “How about we get bottles and bring them back to mine? We’ve got plenty of time for the pub scene…” She raised her eyebrows awaiting his answer. Alex had just gotten back and Liv didn’t feel like sharing him. They would spend the rest of their lives partying together but now was a time to catch up. She wanted to know everything he’d been up to and every place he’d been.
“I’ll make you some decent brekkie and we can watch shit cartoons…” she urged. She pulled him inside of the shop anyway and headed straight for the alcohol. Of course they’d get looks for buying liquor so early but Bristol was full of lushes, Liv being one of the biggest. She didn’t have a care in the world with her partner in crime by her side now. Opening up one of the fridges and looking over at Alex, it was still unbelievable that he was actually there.
“I’ll pay, no problemo.”
Alex kept on walking with Liv. He had waited for so long to be back and now here he was, walking with the infamous Olivia Malone, the chick he had missed like hell and the only one in his life. Still a bit shocked by finding her almost as if destiny did exist, he wasn’t talkng much just yet until he felt he needed to stop because Liv had. He looked up and blinked a couple times.
“Bottles?”
He pressed his lips together, thinking. But maybe he was taking a lot time to think beacuse Liv pulled him inside, chuckling and looking at the people inside the place who were obviously staring when they got to the fridge.
“Okay, okay, I’m still paying. Just make sure they are not less than three. I want to get pretty fucked up, like, vomiting through the window kind of fucked up. And you finally learned how to cook? I’m impressed.”
Alex rubbed his hands together and laughed. Bothering her was funny and being with her now was nuts. They would be lucky if Liv’s place didn’t end up completely destroyed. He let Liv picking the bottles while he went around, looking for cigarettes and chips, loads of chips just because. Heading over to the lad behind the counter, Alex smiled at him widely.
“Hey, mate, got a big idea that I want to share with you. How about… ”
He took one coin out of his pocket and shrugged.
“We play a little game… heads or tails. You choose one and I choose one. If I win, I take all of this shite for free, what do you say?”
Liv walked up behind Alex with five bottles in hand. She smiled when she realized what was going on. Classic Alex. Liv nodded her head toward the cashier and shrugged her shoulders. “Al’ight. If I win, yeah? You pay n I get a cheeky look at your girlfriend here.” Liv snorted and looked over at Alex. “Deal,” she said without hesitating. She knew no matter what happened. Alex always got his way. She wasn’t worried about losing. They’d probably make a run for it anyway.
She watched patiently as Alex flipped the coin. The man called it in the air but she wasn’t paying attention. The coin came out heads. Liv looked at Alex to decipher if they’d won or not. They both seemed to shrug at the same time as they bolted out of the store. Liv laughed running alongside Alex. Even though the clerk didn’t bother following them out of the store, they ran until they got to her mum’s house. Liv stopped to catch her breath. “Fucking perv..” she gasped pointing in the direction of the store.
“Let’s go eat some fucking breakfast,” she said as she opened the front door. Alex tried not to make a disgusted face at the clerk’s words. That was one thing he couldn’t stand: perverts. But there was no doubt why Liv always received the worst catcalling. Still, it was disgusting. The man had chosen tails but of course Alex had a coin with two tails and another with two heads. He knew in which pocket was each so of course they won. And of course they took off running.
“Go get a cheeky look at your mum!”
That was all he shouted while he grabbed all the chips and unnecessary stuff along with the cigarettes. Three bottles on Liv and he took two of them while running. They didn’t want them broken, did they? He knew exactly where he was running to, it came as if he had run this street yesterday, as if his feet remembered where they should go to. Once they stopped, Alex only chuckled at what Liv had said. He was a perv indeed. And in need.
“Yah… I could use breakfast now. Dunno when when did I had my last meal… yah… that jet lag is still driving me crazy.”
He stepped inside the house. It hadn’t changed, just looked like another teenager lived here. He raised his brows and then nodded. Right… Maude. He sometimes forgot people aged. He placed the booze and bags on the counter.
“Needa help with something? I still have the magical touch with beans and eggs.”
”Am I hearing this right? Sexy Lexy wants to help with breakfast?” Liv walked into the kitchen and started to pull the ingredients out of the refrigerator. The house was quit. Bella and Maude were out. Liv wasn’t sure when the last time they were all in was.
“What happened to getting your bitches to make you brekkie?” Liv joked sticking her tongue out at him.
Having Alex back was surreal. Liv was sure she’d wake up and he’d be on. If he wasn’t planning on staying long she didn’t want to get her hopes up.
She placed some toast in the toaster. Next the beans were in a pot and four eggs cracked into a bowl. “Can I ask you something?” Liv turned her back to Alex while she poured the beaten eggs into a preheated pan. “Do you think I’m the type to settle down?”
“Yah, about that… Thai boys don’t make good breakies at all. A year of that and I’ll have to get used to this shit again. Plus, you’re not my bitch, I mean, you’re one but…”
Alex laughed and took some glasses out, hesitating about using them since they had all the booze there. He shrugged, headed to the refrigerator, took a bottle of juice out, poured some in the glasses and then added the not-so-secret ingredient. Of course it was about a few drops of orange juice and the remaining space between it and the border was pure alcohol. He smirked and stirred them with a butter knife as classy as he could with that. Liv made him look over his shoulder with great interest.
“Sure babe, let it out.”
He leaned against the counter, paying all his attention on Liv, or to her back. He raised his brows and tilted his head.
“Settle down? Well, that shit involves a lot of… demands a lot. You’re demanding, yah, but you’re also constant, I mean, is not Maude what she is now because of you? I think you could if you really wanted to… do you?”
“Dunno..” Liv shrugged her shoulders. She didn’t see herself as the nurturing type. Maybe a long time ago. But that was only because she had to. Agnes had taken off without a second guess and hadn’t been home since. “I don’t see myself with a husband and–kids…” Her conversation with Pip still resonated with her. It bounced around in her mind from time to time like a fly that wouldn’t die. It was no secret that she was afraid of commitment. She had her reasons but admitting them was something else. Even so now Liv wondered if she was even capable of being in any type of relationship even if she tried.
“Whatever. Who needs a boyfriend when I’ve got you ya? Shag whoever I want then spend my days with you. It’s the perfect set up,”
Liv grabbed two plates and scrapped the eggs unto them. She added the beans then a slice of toast for both of them. Liv handed a plate to Alex and sat on the counter while she ate from her own.
“Husband and Kids? Babe, you’re going too far…”
Alex raised his brows and smiled. No one their age saw themselves having a family, right? Some girls maybe dreamed about it since the day they opened their eyes but it was rare nowadays. The breakfast was ready and he was starving. All those weird meals with weird animals and fruits and vegetables didn’t suit him. Some plates were good, he ha to admit, but nothing compared to all of this. He had also missed english food. Trying to get a simple plate of fish ‘n’ ships was the hardest thing he had done while being in Thailand. They didn’t know how to cook with all the fat he loved.
“Right. I can also get to grab your tits without any commitment. We should get married. Instead of kids, we could get a dog or something like that. A turtle.”
Alex joked while eating. It was really good to be back, he would never get tired of saying it.
“Why the sudden interest in settling down? Have you met someone?”
He placed his fork down and cocked a brow. This was something he had to hear without anything dangerous in his hands, in case he got really surprised.
Liv tore a piece of her toast and stuffed it in her mouth. She shrugged her shoulders instead of answering verbally but knew Alex wasn’t going to let it go until she gave him details. Liv sighed and rolled her eyes. “Yes and no.” If she was going to tell anybody anything it would be Alex. He was the only person she trusted with her lie. Besides he would be truthful with her and tell her when she was being stupid.
“There is sort of someone. But there’s someone else.”
This was going to be the first time she admitted it out loud. Liv was afraid because it would make it real and something she had to deal with. She placed her plate to the side and groaned.
“Okay I’ll tell you but only if you promise to tell me I’m being an idiot. There’s this bloke. Phillip. Who may or may not be related to Alo…that’s besides the point but we got one well. Great shag, totally mental. Sweet. The works. But he’s keen on making a proper girlfriend outta me..” Liv scoffed. She replayed their conversation in her head. Now was the hard part.
“But I can’t be with him or anyone else,” she stopped talking and nudged Alex. “Now this is the part where you tell me I’m a nutter.” She picked up the piece of bread again and continued tearing off pieces. “It’s Matty. It’s hard but– I can’t let ‘im go. No matter what he does.”
Alex smirked. Even if she tried to avoid his questions, she knew he wouldn’t give up. Better reply now, before being hounded by him all day and night. So far, Liv was being ambiguous and he craved for details so he stared without even blinking until she spoke up. He didn’t expect her answer, though. Two. It was difficult for the lads to catch her attention, for longer than a shag to be more clear. That was how she had managed before, just how he did. Flirt, shag and dispose. How come she was into two of them?
“I’m all ears, believe me.”
He covered his hand with the other and rested his chin on them. Finally something interesting. Everything was with Liv, always. He nodded just to keep her talking. Alo’s cousin, probably, unless he had a brother he had no knowledge about. He smiled because it was sweet and good to hear someone wanted Liv for something else than her body. Hence the attraction she felt towards him, probably, probably not. He hummed an ‘hmm-hmm”, narrowing his eyes. Matty. He narrowed his eyes even more, almost closing them. He sihed heavily before leaning on the chair, making sounds with his mouth.
“Nick’s brother. Okay… let’s see. You are attracted to his lad who has feelings towards you but you’re so into the idea of not being capable of being with someone.”
He used air quotes and leaned on the table again.
“But you still think of Matty, the lad who you dated about… what? Three years ago? Okay, fuck the dates, I’m shit with ‘em… you still want him, meaning you’ve seen him so I’m guessing he’s out of jail. Olivia Malone, yeap, you’re an idiot. You can’t be with anyone else because you’re still infatuated with the hairy Levan. Great arse, by the way.”
Alex arched his brows and sighed again before starting eating again. Give her some time to reflect about it before she go insane, trying to deny her feelings.
“I didn’t say I was infatuated with him! I just said–whatever fuck off.” It sounded stupid when she said it out loud. Her having feelings for Matty sounded stupid whenever she wasn’t around him. It was childs play. Alex was right. They dated a long time ago and even if she was still hooking up with him from time to time it didn’t mean anything. Just like every other guy she slept with. “Wanna hear the best part?”
The talking part was getting easier. Especially since she didn’t have to let Alex in on the fact that technically she wasn’t suppose to be in her mum’s flat. After losing her apartment in London, Liv hung around her old place while Agnes was away. But there was no telling when her mum would return from work.
“Remember that bloke Luke that gets a stiffy from ruining people’s lives? Matty works for ‘im. They’re like butt brothers. He’s got ‘im dressing all different and riding around in expensive cars. It’s weird.”
She continued to eat from her plate. Liv figured stuffing her mouth would keep her from going on and on about what Matty was doing now. She sounded like an obsessed teenage girl. Alex would start jumping to conclusions again. “All I’m saying is love stories are for fairytales and shitty American cinema.”
Alex pursed his lips, chewing the mouthful and shrugged. Liv had reacted the way he had anticipated. Then she was willing to add some more information so he took a bottle of the booze they had bought and sipped from it, eyes fixed on Liv. He kept on drinking until his throat felt hot and irritated. He closed his eyes and coughed a little.
“Wait, what? Matty’s workin’ for that lad? The one Franky was datin’?”
Alex made a face. He hadn’t noticed but he was shaking his head without stopping.
“Has’e lost ‘is mind?”
Jos back was touching the chair again. He couldn’t believe was Liv had just said. Wasn’t that lad the cause of everything bad in their lives? Wasn’t Grace dead because of him? Alex stared back at her, rubbing his chin.
“I wasn’t talkin’ about fairytales, Livvy. I’ts obvious you still ‘ave feelings for him and that’s not somethin’ you can change. I mean… all these years? That’s somethin’. Tell me, Liv. If Matty told you he loves you or… I don’t know, anythin’… would you try and give it a shot? Same question with Phillip. Don’t lie, you know I’ll find out.”
If it were anyone else sitting across from her and interrogating her, Liv would have walked away. And in her own fashion thrown a fit while doing so. But it was Alex. She was happy he was there. More than happy. But annoyed that he was the only person that could make her  talk and wouldn’t no for an answer.
“No,” she lied.
Liv hopped down from the counter and emptied her plate into the trash can. She rinsed off her hands in the sink before folding her arms and leaning against the counter.
“Pip’s already tried. And I told him no. And Matty– he doesn’t. That whole Franky thing is always gonna be there. She’s always gonna be there.” Liv sighed and looked away. Her voice started to shake and she didn’t want Alex to think she was getting upset over Matty.
“I saw my dad,” she started. “I went to go visit him and he basically pushed me out of the door. He’s got this new life. Better wife. Better kids. That’s what happens. I’m here but there’s always something better out there. That’s what I told Pip and–”
She couldn’t look at Alex anymore. Instead she started to clean up around the kitchen. “He didn’t even know my name. I shouldn’t even try if I couldn’t get my own dad to stay.”
Alex was almost expressionless, even if his lips were slightly curled up. The conversation had started with Alo’s cousin and now Matty was like the main dish of this banquet. He finished his food as Liv threw hers away, pushing the plate to a side so he could lean just as she had. He stared at her and extended his arm to stroke her arm to comfort her. He was about to give his opinion about Franky and the affair with the Jonas Brothers and what he thought of Pip but his throat went dry. The boy stared as he pulled his fingers back, slowly. As far as his ‘drugs, sex and rock ‘n’ roll’ life let him remember, he couldn’t recall not even one time in which Liv talked about her father, a sensitive topic to him as well. As words kept flowing out of Liv’s mouth, his jaw was more tensed and his teeth were grinding.
“Fuck.”
Alex mustered, closing his eyes. Liv’s pain was so tangible it hurt, as if she was covered with thorns and he was passing his hand over them. He kind of knew the feeling. It was present, but at least his father had taken care of him until he was sixteen.
“Don’t ya ever say that again, alrite? He’s pure shit, that’s all I can say. He made a choice, Liv, a fucked up one because he’s fucked up. You have nothing to do with it, yeah? He’s fucked up.”
Alex couldn’t stop repeating that statement. He felt fire inside him and felt the need to search for that man and show him a good time.
“I just... I don’t get it. Parents are shit, most of them. Is that a recquirement to become one?”
It wasn’t, he was sure. His grandparents were excellent human beings who had the misfortune of having a shit son.
“You deserve the world and more. Don’t let him get under your skin. Don’t let him ruin your future when he has already ruined your past.”

Alex snorted, arms crossed on his chest.
“It’s for some catalogue, mate. Height doesn’t really show in pictures, you know? All you’re supposed to see is the clothes the model’s wearing. And some skin, why not?”
He shook his head. It was obvious this Maxxie lad felt the best in the room. He kept his comments about his performance to himsel, didn’t want the lad to float around for giving some good notes to his ego. But the leader of the audition did it for him.
“Break a leg or whatever you’re supposed to say in this situations.”
Alex nodded at the blonde guy and walked back to his audition. His name had been called so he pulled his shirt out from the collar and stood in front of the girl and boy. Maybe he didn’t have the desired height but he did have the body. Some questions were asked to him, some measurements were done and for the last part of the audition, some photographs were taken. Alex had to take his pants out as well, as if he was ashamed to do so. A girl was brought over to pose with him and it looked like people had liked him. He raised his fist in celebration and put his clothes back on. Five boys and five girls were selected and now he was happy to say he could also pay the bills while having some nice shots besides the night life as a DJ.
Latching | Maxxie
What could Alex do in Bristol to earn some money? Go around giving blowjobs had been one interesting and absurd idea until he remembered he would have to do so to people who were ugly or didn’t have a correct hygiene, so he crossed that from his list. Some minutes later, he was out and walking around the familiar streets of Bristol since he had read an ad on the internet about an agency that looked for male models. Of course his height wouldn’t help but this was mostly about pictures, not runways, small businesses like catalogues and that sorts. Alex was wearing his usual shirt with no sleeves when he entered the place where the auditions were being casted. He couldn’t leave this to his dice since he did need the money, going around stealing from naive people was not a safe way of living.
Once he got inside, he gave his personal information to a woman who was sat behind a desk. He looked up when he was told to ‘wait here’ and saw many models, both female and male. He smiled to himself sicne he did admire pretty people, and most the the ones here were. However, music caught his attention to another side of the room. Apparently, this place held more than one audition, and it seemed like a dance one. He folded his arms and examinated the dancers. He laughed quietly when one of them started to dance in high heels and was a man. That was pretty awesome to be honest, but the lad… not his style.

“Good morning my lady, I was just wondering… if you had to choose a number, from one  to six… which one would you pick?"
The voice made her heart flutter. Liv had to find the courage to actually look up. She didn’t want to be disappointed just in case the voice didn’t match the face. She furrowed her eyebrows as soon as they made eye contact. She chewed on the inside of her cheek to hide her excitement.  "Isn’t six always run away?” She grinned.
“Am I hearing this right?
It’s the perfect set up,"
Liv grabbed two plates and scrapped the eggs unto them. She added the beans then a slice of toast for both of them. Liv handed a plate to Alex and sat on the counter while she ate from her own.
“Husband and Kids? Babe, you’re going too far...”

A nod. Alex gritted his teeth while a small smile curled his lips up. The lad was obviously taller than him so he didn't stand too close.
"Yah, yah, but not not in this one but in that one over there."
Alex pointed at the models and photographers. Honestly watching lads and girls dancing was far more interesting than watching at people show how pretty or handsome they were. He narrowed his eyes as the bloke inspected him and folded his arms. He was called into the audition and excused himself, to what Alex reacted with a shrug. There was no way he was going to miss the audition so he took some steps closer to have a look. The song was a good one, one he hadn't heard before so he made sure to have it recorded in his phone. Maybe he could use it at parties, it worked if you changed the illumination and added some more drinks to the scene. Maxxie, whose name was reaffirmed by the people who called him into the audition, had great dance moves. unusual ones, which caught his attention. He couldn't help but laugh a little and smile at the hips' movement, he definitely knew what he was doing. Alex just stayed there, quite enthrilled with his presentation.

So the boy ended, many of the danced applauded and Alex just smirked. The woman from the reception, just until now, made an appearance and gave him the green light to take a number and wait but some wall and some benches. Christ, he wasn't tired so he could wait on his feet. There were plenty beautiful girls to whom he smiled and the chuckled because he remembered Liv's words of 'you're going to end up fucking some girl one day if you keep doing that'. Not possible. He sighed and read his turn. He was the 85 and they were at the 63 so he still had some waiting to do. He tried to focus his attention on the ones modeling but as they didn't have to walk or anything, it was rather boring, that was why he preferred to look at the other audition. A girl had taken on the stage by now and she was good, but not awesome. Alex was minding his own business when he felt a stare. His eyes flicked to another part of the room and he spotted a blonde guy, tall, fit, dressed for the audition, that was for sure. Alex pulled his phone out and opened his CruisR app. If he had the app or not, it was not something he knew but still, he gave it a shot. Many of the boys who were auditioning were now on his screen. He snickered whe he recognised the blonde one.
"Maxxie. Bingo."
Alex shoved his phone back inside his pocket and then took out his dice. The thought about 5 possibilities, shook the piece of shaped plastic in betwen his hands and nodded. Without thinking it twice, Alex left his spot and walked through the room and towards the dancers. He fixed his shirt and positioned himself near the blonde bloke, leaning against the wall.
"Gonna audition too, mate?"
He asked, arms crossed, lifting his brows.
