During this week I am still working on graphics for the indoor track and field team. I learned the power of critiquing work. For example, before I submit a sports graphic I have to show my supervisor. Once she reviews it they tell me if this is a great graphic or if it needs more work to reach their expectations. This has built up my endurance in creating something that is pleasing to people and holds the standards they are looking for. I enjoyed my internship and I have learned a lot from this internship.

This week I worked on another template for the indoor track and field team. I learned how to communicate problems that I am having. When working on a project I may have difficulties asking for help to create a graphic. Instead of trying to figure it out on my own, I asked for help. After I asked for help and I received new information on how to complete a project. If I did not ask for help I would have not found an answer to my problem. Now I know for future issues to ask questions.

This week I worked on creating my portfolio website. I had fun creating this website. On my website, I created a home page, an about me page, a portfolio page, a contact page, and a shop page. On the home page, it is a welcome and preview of my artwork with ways to contact me. On the About Me page, there is a brief Get to Know Me page and another page that takes users to my artist statement, resume, and tearsheet. My portfolio page shows different artwork from drawings, paintings, graphic designs, and photography. The contact page is a place where users on my site can contact me. Lastly, the shop page is a page where users can buy my artwork. Building this website showed me it is important to have a professional online presence. I plan to add to this website.

This week in my internship I learned the process of critiquing work. As before I am working on a template for indoor track and field, however, I ran into an issue while creating it. Therefore my supervisor helped me in choosing another template to create. I noticed that my first template did not meet the standard. This caused me to understand that feedback on my work will help me to succeed. The power of critiques has shown me that what I am portraying may not be perceived as what I want it to be seen as and having others look at my work will allow me to better myself.

This week in my internship I am creating a template for indoor track and field. While creating this template I learned how to use the gradient tool in Adobe Photoshop. I was able to create a background using three different gradients. This allowed the background to pop and add more details to the graphic design. Also, I can continue to learn the different types of gradients linear, radical, and others. I will be able to use this in the next graphic designs that I create.

During this week I learned a new feature of Adobe Photoshop. I have been working on creating a template for indoor track and field. When making the template, I learned how to stretch text. By converting the text to a shape, it allows the text to be altered by stretching in different ways. Learning this will allow me to create new features in my personal designs. Also, I learned that creating texture in a graphic design makes the graphic more appealing.

This week I learned about writing an artist's statement. I have not written an artist statement before and did not know how one is important to the creating process. After watching the weekly video I was able to understand the purpose of it. For example, I learned that an artist's statement is supposed to describe a piece of artwork and explain what the work is and how it is important. I will apply what I have learned to my artist statement.

This week during my internship I have been released from supervision and can create my own graphics for the indoor track and field team. Before I only updated the players and dates, but now I am creating my own template. I have taken what I have learned in the previous weeks and started to apply it to the work I am creating now. I learned that it can be a lot of pressure when I have total creative freedom, but looking back and remembering the tips of consistency and telling a story will help.

This week I worked on creating a business card. I created the front and back views of the business card. On the front of the card, I placed my name, job, and contact information, while on the back I placed more information about myself and a picture of what I have created. I learned that business cards are used to introduce people to who you are and what you have to offer. The business card I created will help me to show others what services I can offer. I will plan to use this concept in creating future business cards.

During this week I worked on my tearsheet. I have never done a tearsheet before, therefore this was a learning experience for me. I watched the video on what a tearsheet is and searched for examples of it and I was able to complete one for myself. I had to choose which artwork was the best to display on the tearsheet. After I put my best work on it, I was able to add my contact information. This assignment was fun and I can now use this in my career.

This week I learned how to use a new application called Sideline Design. This is a new site were the Athletic Department will be using to create sports graphics. The site is easier to use when creating templates at a quick pace. This will help me to create many sports graphics at a faster pace and get the job done more efficiently. By using this program I will be able to use less energy to create wonderful graphics.

During this week I learned how it is important to have mock interviews and resume reviews. This is important because it gives you real-world insight and experience. Through these two experiences, I can tell what I need to improve upon and what are my strengths. I read over the comments and know exactly where I need to reread or change in my resume. Also, I know where I need to be more specific and clarify during an interview. I will take this practice and use it to increase my strengths.

This week I continued to work on developing the sports graphics for indoor track and field. As I continued to look for which graphics would be best for the school, I learned that representation matters. For example, the way a graphic design is represented shows the importance level. In a sports graphic, the importance is placed on the people and the words. The graphic should be built around the position of the person, therefore, making the graphic more interesting to look at.

This week I learned about cover letters and their role when applying for a job. Also, I learned the basic factors that are vital to forming a cover letter. I chose a job to write my cover letter and followed the layout. I begin to list where I found the job and to acknowledge who the letter is for. Then I list my experience and why I think I would be right for the position. Next, I listed courses that were relevant to the position and finally, I thanked the company for their consideration. I think this will help me in the future.
