also hi, it’s been a while. I switched laptops and didn’t get around to setting up the sims2 so haven’t played for a while, but last night out of the blue I started thinking about Pleasantview, so I’m currently unzipping the games. Lets see if my attention lasts long enough to actually install this and set it up.

And upstairs is where the space really gets crunched, so Puck and Bottom’s rooms are a lot smaller and the art room gets sacrificed completely.

This is also where I changed the decor up a little to ft the personalities that I play the characters. The girly pink bedroom in the original house always felt really odd to me for Bottom, so I went for a more earthy look with the Little Rascals bedroom set from Parsimonious. Puck gets a sun and night sky/surfy beach mashup space.

The master bedroom is also earth-fairy theme. Design Aesthetic: Ivy everywheeeere.

I popped a crib and changing table (just out of shot) in this room too as they are hoping for a new arrival.

So although the rooms are smaller, like I said, I kept quite closely to the makeover that PotatoFrankenstein had done with just a few tweaks to throw in a tiny smattering of CC, or to adapt for the smaller space. The central ground floor room now has a grand piano and a (unpictured) seating and bookcases area for sitting and studying. The left side living room is mainly centered around the bubble blower. The ground floor toilet (unpictured) is exactly the same as PotatoFrankenstein’s version.

The kitchen I had to sacrifice the extensive island as there wasn’t the room for it but it’s otherwise pretty much the same.

The Summerdream lot in Veronaville is my nemesis. I’ve tried making it over several times in the past and never found anything I like enough to keep. Plus the lot tends to crash for me. I wasn’t sure if it was just the lot being buggy or because it was just so large.

So I downloaded PotatoFrankensteins version here. Loaded it up, really liked most of the decor choices and the fixes to the layout and played a couple days. Then it crashed. Tried a few more times, but each time I couldn’t play for more than a couple days before it crashed. I came to the decision that the lot is just too big, full and luscious for my poor laptop to handle.

I decided to completely rebuild the lot, mainly copying PotatoFrankenstein’s deco, but smaller. So the kitchen and the left sitting room both lose a couple squares width, the middle section loses about 4 squares width, and the whole house is a good deal shallower too. This works fine for my playstyle - I prefer smaller houses with smaller rooms.

I also kept the garden a lot less complicated. I’m hoping to add a little bit to it eventually, but for now the lot seems to be running fine and is playable and for the first time I feel like I’m really embracing the Summerdream aesthetic rather than just plonking them in a new lot and ignoring the chaotic maxisequeness.

wcif sims 2 gardening mod

does anyone know of a sims 2 gardening mod that makes hedges and flowers need trimming/watering less often - ie more days before they shift into overgrown/wilted mode? And weeds spread/grow slower?

I know that there are mods out there that remove the need to trim hedges altogether, but my nature sims enjoy it, so I don’t want that to go completely, I’m just finding that even when hiring a gardener or butler, bigger gardens seem to go unruly faster than my sims can keep up with.

Olive’s hobbies include evilly cackling, evilly dominating at chess, evilly stalking her son and son-in-law, evilly looking after the grandchildren, and evilly picking up all the dishes because damn it’s hard being the only neat sim in a household of six.

anyone else currently having issues with SFS? The site is up but when I click download it’s mostly sitting there trying for 10 minutes and then failing. -.-

Are the fonts that you make only able to be used in the sims? I want to use them for something else for my friend, but I'm not sure if I'm able to.

Sorry anon, this has probably been sitting here for several months - I’m not sure why you’d want to use them for anything else as they are Simlish, but the deal is pretty much the same. Nothing that makes you money (ie. no paid sites, or donation-only-items) unless you ask me first. I appreciate getting credit if you’re posting anywhere on teh webz. otherwise, knock yourself out.

I know this is oddly specific and probably only useful to like 5 people who play historical games. I built a saloon and needed it to say “SALOON” across the front in big letters, but I couldn’t find anything of the sort, so I made it myself. I considered making a single sign, but I wanted it big, like 6 tiles wide, and I couldn’t find a suitable mesh. Then the idea struck to make each letter a separate 1-tile wall hanging. I like this better because you can spell whatever you want, like “SHERIFF” or “JAIL” or “GENERAL STORE”.

Here’s what they look like in lot view, and in neighborhood view.

I’ve included two versions; 26 individual files and one bundled file. Make sure to only keep one!

You can’t really tell unless you zoom in super close, which is probably pretty unlikely considering the intended purpose of these, but the texture on the letters is White Wood, from Shasta’s Pirate Woods.

Mesh is included, files are compressorized.
