"Don't use Libby because it costs libraries too much, pirate instead" is such a weird, anti-patron, anti-author take that somehow manages to also be anti-library, in my professional librarian-ass opinion.
It's well documented that pirating books negatively affects authors directly* in a way that pirating movies or TV shows doesn't affect actors or writers, so I will likely always be anti-book piracy unless there's absolutely, positively no other option (i.e. the book simply doesn't exist outside of online archives at all, or in a particular language).
Also, yeah, Libby and Hoopla licenses are really expensive, but libraries buy them SO THAT PATRONS CAN USE THEM. If you're gonna be pissed at anybody about this shitty state of affairs, be pissed at publishing companies and continue to use Libby or Hoopla at your library so we can continue to justify having it to our funding bodies.
One of the best ways to support your library having services you like is to USE THOSE SERVICES. Yes, even if they are expensive.

So people just cross the road here? Like they don't wait for the light every time? When I was a kid everyone told me that if I jaywalked I would get run over. I was walking around yesterday and a bunch of people just jaywalked right in front of cop. The cop was doing something else but wtf! If you are from Boston could you please explain this to me.
#ok in germany you do not just cross the road when there's a crosswalk or other type of 'official' crossing close by#and if there's a crossing with traffic lights you WILL wait until it switches to green even if there's no one amd no cars around#dont need the actual disapproving looks. they are ingrained in your being. in your dna. l#living in the uk and getting used to just crossing the road whenever or else you are the one looking dumb was something to get used to xD#also love in london how it says at crossings which way to look bc they drive on the wrong side of the street /j

fuck it. be creative even if you never really *make* anything. write out plot synopses of stories and then move on. design OCs you'll never use. make mood boards and concept art and don't do anything with them. life's too short to forget everything that inspired you and creation doesn't have to be "complete" to be worth the time you put into it.
