PT: Eu tenho esta mania de colecionar singles de 7 polegadas, nao sei se é comum a outros colecionadores mas gosto muito de caçar musicas que gosto em pilhas de pequenos discos. Este chegou-me ás maos no meio de uma coleção de uma antiga loja de discos que me foi oferecida, e onde vinham muitas perolas dos anos 80, edicoes portuguesas maioritariamente. É uma cancao super divertida e vem na melhor altura da Pop, para mim...com a idade comecei a apreciar estas bandas pop dos anos 80 e reconheço que esta lado purporina da decada tambem me agrada. Quero la saber da orientação sexual do vocalista... é boa pop como ja nao há!!

ENG: I have this habit of collecting 7-inch singles, I don't know if it's common among other collectors, but I really like hunting for songs I like in stacks of small records. This came into my hands in the middle of a collection from an old record store that was given to me, and which contained many gems from the 80s, mostly Portuguese editions. It's a super fun song and comes at the best time in Pop, for me...as I got older I started to appreciate these pop bands from the 80s and I recognize that this glittery side of the decade also appeals to me. I dont want to know about the singer's sexual orientation... it's good pop like nothing else!!

Este foi um album que chegou á minha vida numa altura interessante. Estava na ressaca do fim de uma banda que tentava chegar a uma sonoridade mais parecida com a que os Katatonia praticam e como essa banda se finou eu afastei-me deste lado mais negro ate que, por acaso, levei com isto na tromba... lembro-me perfeitamente a primeira vez que ouvi a My Twin, vinha num ficheiro de musicas que saquei cujo nome era qualquer coisa como "doom/gothic metal" e apaixonei-me imediatamente por este album e por esta banda. É das bandas que mais vezes vi ao vivo, e lembro-me de que ainda andei uns bons tempos a tentar arranjar esta edição do álbum e da felicidade que senti quando chegou ca a casa!! É um dos discos da minha vida...

This was an album that came into my life at an interesting time. I was in the hangover of the end of a band that tried to reach a sound more similar to that of Katatonia and as that band ended I moved away from this darker side until, by chance, I got hit in the face... I remember perfectly the first time I heard My Twin, it was in a file of songs that I found whose name was something like "doom/gothic metal" and I immediately fell in love with this album and this band. It's one of the bands I've seen live the most times, and I remember that I still spent a long time trying to get this edition of the album and the happiness I felt when it got home!! It's one of the albums of my life...

PT: O album que me fez voltar a ouvir a ouvir Metal merecia uma edicao picture-disc!!

Eu andava afastado dos sons mais pesados ate que levei com isto na cara, nao me interessa se è o disco mais "acessível" deles, ou que outros achem isso, é um disco cheio de grandes canções, um disco que veio de situações pessoais difíceis dos membros da banda e que resultou numa pérola dentro do Metal.

Nao era muito fã de Mastodon, ja os tinha visto ao vivo algumas vezes e nao me tinham convencido totalmente, ate ouvir isto...

È o primeiro disco de Metal que mostro aqui, mas ha mais...fiquem atentos!!

The album that made me start listening to Metal again deserved a picture-disc edition!! I was staying away from the heavier sounds until this hit me in the face, I don't care if it's their most "accessible" album, or what others think so, it's an album full of great songs, an album that came from difficult personal situations of the band members and which resulted in a pearl within Metal. I wasn't a big fan of Mastodon, I had seen them live a few times and I wasn't completely convinced, until I heard this... It's the first Metal album I show here, but there are more...stay tuned!!

voltei recentemente a este album, sei que é uma compilação e tal e que ha alguma aversão a best offs mas nao quero saber. É uma das poucas bandas que me falta ver ao vivo e um anuncio de um concerto desta malta faria com que fosse a correr comprar bilhete. Os discos desta banda sao obrigatorios em qualquer coleção mas esta compilação nao é má para comeco de conversa...

I recently went back to this album, I know it's a compilation and such and that there is some aversion to best offs but I don't want to know. It's one of the few bands I've yet to see live and an announcement of a concert from these guys would make me rush to buy a ticket. This band's albums are mandatory in any collection, but this compilation isn't bad to begin with...

Houve uma altura na minha vida em que este disco fez parte de um quase-ritual...

Chegava a casa depois de mais um turno dos infernos, reduzia as luzes ao minimo e metia este disco a girar, sentava-me no sofa apenas a ouvir a Beth e os seus rapazes, era uma especie de libertacao do mundo terreno e entrada numa outra dimensao, há albuns que nos permitem isto, viajar.

È inegável a importância deste disco na musica, e a influência que tem ainda hoje em outras bandas e artistas. Aqui por casa ainda roda muitas vezes...

There was a time in my life when this album was part of an almost-ritual... I would get home after another hell of a shift, I would dim the lights to the minimum and put this record on spin, I would sit on the sofa just listening to Beth and her boys, it was a kind of liberation from the earthly world and entry into another dimension, there are albums that allow us to do this, travel. The importance of this album in music is undeniable, and the influence it still has on other bands and artists today. Here at home it still runs often...

Tropeçei no talento do Adrian Borland! Este disco foi amor á primeira vista, curiosamente foi a ultima cancao do disco que me fez apaixonar pelos The Sound e recolher toda a sua discografia.

Comprei este disco numa tarde de sol á porta do Tivoli depois de algumas mensagens trocadas no Discogs com o ex-dono, em boa hora o fiz, pois conheci um dos mais subvalorizados genios do lado negro dos anos 80. "Borland pega no que Ian Curtis deixou"...nao sei, é capaz, so sei que ha nos The Sound uma melancólica que me fascina ate hoje.

Vida longa a Borland!!

I stumbled upon Adrian Borland's talent! This album was love at first sight, interestingly it was the last song on the album that made me fall in love with The Sound and collect their entire discography. I bought this album on a sunny afternoon outside the Tivoli (Lisboa) after some messages exchanged on Discogs with the former owner, at a good time, as I met one of the most undervalued geniuses of the dark side of the 80s. "Borland picks up on what Ian Curtis left "...I don't know, maybe... I just know that there is a melancholy in The Sound that fascinates me to this day.

Long live Borland!!

This album came into my hands when I told my group of friends that I was going to open the 90s in my collection, so this classic arrived and another one that I will talk about later.
