To all the parents out there who bundle their babies up in the winter time with those little hats with the little ears that make them look like little teddy bears: You are doing the lord’s work. Seeing tiny ewoks toddle across the grocery store parking lot is just what we all need sometimes. My joy is immeasurable and my day is restored.

they're always bringing experts or activists on the news to agitate about porn and there's a standard script for this that's like "I think sex education is important, I'm not anti-sex, but so much of this porn is violent and misogynistic if not outright illegal, and it's far too accessible to our children"
I want to see someone finally be brave enough to say that the government should just make its own porn for teenagers that accords with community values, so they don't have to go to these shady places to get it. I think the government porn would probably be pretty bad but I would be so eager to hear about the process of designing it. there would be so many stakeholders and consultations. in canada it would have to be bilingual

Skip Google for Research
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse.  It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable.  As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free

The more Akechi thought about it, the more infuriating it was - Maruki’s reality where everyone is just handed their perfect little life. Ryuji and his track dreams. Ann and her best friend. Futaba and her sappy, domestic happily ever after. Yusuke with whatever it was that nutcase desired. There were others too, but Akechi didn't feel like recalling their names. It hardly mattered. Their lives as Phantom Thieves - blissfully and conveniently forgotten. How tragic. That was the only thing that made any of them remotely interesting. Puppets, now. He scorned their compliance, but wasn't surprised; he always knew Akira surrounded himself with simpletons that would easily bend to the will of anything benevolent without question.
But then there was Akechi - no need for pretense any longer, he could sneer and curse as he pleased. He could smoke like a chimney and wear a scowl like a crown. He could leave footprints in the snow and not give a fuck if anyone followed him anymore. So he did.
And then there was Akira; Akechi’s in a way no one else could have him. And then there was a world where they could sleuth and solve and slink their way around. Just the two of them. There was a world without Shido’s agenda. A world without its need for Akechi’s gods-bestowed gift — and a world where only Akira could see it. Share in it.
And there, in the streets of Kichijoji, Akechi realized swiftly that Maruki's little stunt didn't exclude them. They weren't outliers. Despite their mutual cognizance, they still lived in his world. It was enough to stop him dead in his tracks, oblivious to the dusted snow piling up on the shoulders of his peacoat as he stood motionless under a streetlamp.
That he did have a desire beyond defeating Shido...and it was this. Waking up to texts from Akira. Falling asleep after calls with him - Calls where Akira confided. Where he griped. Where he admitted his worries, his concerns, his doubts. To him. Calls where sometimes they barely spoke. Calls where sometimes not a word was said. Just breathing, in and out, watching the snow fall from their respective bedroom windows. Silent like soldiers in a bunker, waiting for war in a world that had no use for it.
Akira was his, in a way he wasn't before. In a way only Akechi could see. No one was in his way, anymore. Nothing stood between them. No gods. No false deities. No agenda. No pretense. All they had was each other, lurking in the shadows of a world in which they - and only they - knew better.
Which meant, Akechi realized with a chill that seized him more than winter's wind whipping at his coat:
This was Akira's desire, too

the goncharov nonsense™ is showcasing one of my favourite tumblr features, where a post is successful but doesn't really spark anything more for months to years and then one day people just randomly go "hey that was funny" and it's #1 trending almost immediately

i'm so confused rn, can you explain the goncharov thing?? i get off tumblr for five minutes
Lmaoooo
Nah I getchu. So this post has been circulating for like a year:
Tumblr media
But yesterday, it had inspired someone to do this:
Tumblr media
Next thing I knew there were fake Letterboxed reviews.
Goncharov moodboards. Really good ones.
Tumblr media
Meta analysis. So many fake meta essays. Disturbingly good ones. And of course the memes.
As you can see, the myth just started to grow, characters and ships and tropes being added one after the other, almost bizzarely without contradiction, until there was enough of shape to the whole thing for people to start posting fanfic about it on AO3. "Ice-pick Joe" has already become a meme tag.
Tumblr media
It was hilarious in the beginning, but the way it's developed within less than a day, kind of like it's being willed into existence, is freaking me out a bit. We're toying with powers beyond our comprehension. 😂😂😂
Tumblr media
Of course, there could be an ulterior motive as well.
