Just a little bit of instruction and she was walking well on the leash. She sat. Took treats gentle. She will be great. Perfect candidate for that free training up in Mission Hills. Wasnโt able to videotape her while showing her. As I am focused on the adopters and dog.

Lastly: How an animal acts/reacts in a shelter, or with a particular handler, or during an animal meet up is not 100% indicative to how they will act with everyone or situation. Educate yourself, develop your animal IQ, and ask knowledgeable people how you can best set up your new family member for success.
Key Note: Go slow. Learn to think like the animal, and go slow with all intros. Allow animals to decompress for several days/weeks.

๐ Shelter Note: โThis unsocialized, fearful girl was picked up as a stray on 3-1-22. Sheโs probably not been around people and lived on the streets for a long time.
Team attempted to leash dog to move her today for cleaning and she was thrashing, tense bodied, ears back, and tucked tail. Dog was then muzzled for precaution and a catch pole was applied to assist with getting her out of the kennel. Walked slowly with the catch pole to new kennel and held a tense body, and tucked tail.โ

The teams already had daily operations at the border: numerous people fleeing #Ukraine are on foot with their animals. Temperatures are currently around freezing. Many people reach the border weakened and with severe frostbite on their limbs - and sometimes they also have their animals with them, which are also exposed to the cold and a lack of food. PETA, White Paw and many other organizations are already helping people and animals at the border. ๐

She came into the shelter with another dog named Jim, who was recently adopted. Sadly, Pam was not and is still waiting. She is working on learning to trust people. Itโs clear that sheโs experienced very little human kindness in her life. She flinches at sudden movements and loud sounds.
Sheโs a scared girl in a noisy shelter. She can look scary behind her kennel gate, but once outside of those gates sheโs just a shy and gentle pup. .
