Messing with time was akin to working with fire magic. Forbidden and costly. "All magic comes with a price, and much like pyro magic, time magic is costly enough to be forbidden." "Ugh, don't say that." She groaned, because she still remembered what happened the last time she didn't block out Tairn and Sgaeyl - her first kiss with Xaden. If she couldn't block them out, she wasn't sure she would be able to keep her hands to herself that wall she kept up between them might crumble. She'd block out Tairn. Throw the table, shelves, every single mental lock against the door in her mental archives that connected to the large dragon.
"Varrish is always disappointed about something." There wasn't a shipment tonight, but no doubt after tonight she wouldn't see Xaden for the rest of his time here as he and Bodhi prepare the next shipment to leave in the dead of night. Something that Xaden clearly still didn't trust her with. You're lucky he never checks Tairn before I leave. Only her bag gets emptied out for everyone on the flightfield to see.
"No damage." she confirmed lightly. "Thanks to Tairn - Varrish is pissed that Andarna won't turn up on demand. So is punishing me for it. As he told Tairn, dragons are outside his control, but the riders aren't." She sighed lightly. "So when he threatened me this time, Tairn took matters into his own claws."
Especially after her burnout last time. She wouldn't be surprised if Bodhi was a tattletale and told Xaden about her dip in the river with Tairn to cool down. "I'm worried that it's just put a larger target on me."
Her eyes closed for a second, just focusing on the touch playing with her braid, and the that feeling of shadows that she always felt when he was close by. She'd missed him. Missed the feel of his presence. Battle briefing wasn't the same when she couldn't look up the rows at him and catch his eye.
Xaden nodded, smirk curling his lips. ❝ In some ways I don't know if the strongest shields would completely keep either of them out tonight, ❞ he muttered, nodding again as Violet's words echoed down their connection.
He'd take it. For now. Oh he'd get the words from her at some point, he was sure of it--no matter what he had to do to prove himself.
❝ Yeah, I'm well aware, though he'd have been disappointed anyway. ❞ Xaden shrugged. There wasn't a shipment tonight. It was the clarification he offered, his fingers still distracted with the end of her braid.
A raised brow, just briefly, as Xaden's gaze narrowed for a moment. ❝ Yeah, she said Tairn was rather upset. ❞ And boy was that putting it mildly. ❝ You're fine, though? No damage? ❞
Because the way Sgaeyl made it sound-- well, he'd been a bit concerned.

He hadn't been that terrified for her since the Blood Rite. A hand came back scraping through his dark locks. "I didn't think the mission was going to be that dangerous." and if something had went wrong, he wouldn't have been able to get to her to help. Especially when it's somewhere I can't get to you if you need me - I want you to go get checked out by Madja, just in case, for me?"

“Is that so?” Nesta wasn’t sure whether to ask if that was because he worried for her, or if it was because they didn’t think she could handle herself. Either way, it wasn’t the welcome she was hoping for. “Well.. be that as it may, there was danger, it was handled. Minor scrapes and bruises to show for it.” Bit more than that but she wouldn’t be weak, especially not when she knew they were all watching.

Eyes glanced to the young woman, as if trying to see from looking at her if she believed him or not. Regardless his words were true. She wasn't to blame for all this. Erudite would be doing this regardless to if Tris transferred or not. The difference was that she might have ended up dead if she had stayed in Abnegation, if she hadn't worked her ass of to get stronger. "You've done everything right Tris, don't doubt that."
Tris bit her bottom lip softly, unsure of quite how to respond for a moment. At least until he told her she wasn’t at fault. She wasn’t the one ruining anything. The girl let out a soft breath. “Okay.” She agreed, giving a small nod. She wasn’t going to argue when he was making her feel better… even if she’d rather he tug her into his arms to do it. “Thanks, Four.”

It was unsurprising that such strong individuals were cursed to relive the moments when they couldn't control it. "I wish to be here. You have done so much for all of us, and you should know that you're safe and not alone." if it weren't for the young made-fae in front of her, then Nuala and Cerridwen wouldn't be home in Velaris.

Feyre was grateful it wasn’t Rhys having to come in and calm her down again. She assumed he’d either hear or already knew she’d woke in a panic again, something that still happened more often than she’d liked, but vastly less than when she was still in Spring. “I know… I’m sorry. You didn’t need to drop everything to come in.” She was used to handling these alone.

“I think that seems fair.” The woman just stretched out before turning to look at the warlock. “If only breakfast could just… float into the room, we wouldn’t even have to get up.” She’d been camped out at the Spellman house for a couple days and in truth, Toni would be happy to stay even longer if he’d let her.
