Aava Alkaline Mineral Water -1 Ltr.| Buy Natural Alkaline Water Online - Aava Water
Alkaline natural mineral water is a type of water that has a higher pH level than regular drinking water. The pH level of this water typically ranges from 7.5 to 9.5, which makes it more alkaline or basic in nature. This type of water is sourced from underground springs that are rich in minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium. These minerals help to give the water its alkaline properties and can provide a range of health benefits. Some of the potential benefits of drinking alkaline natural mineral water include improved hydration, better digestion, increased energy levels, and reduced inflammation. Additionally, some studies suggest that drinking alkaline water may help to neutralize the acidic effects of certain foods and drinks in the body, which could be beneficial for those with acid reflux or other digestive issues.

Why the TDS of Your Drinking Water Matters
Have you ever noticed the taste of your drinking water If you haven't, all the more reason to read this article. When you drink natural mineral water like Aava that's sourced from a protected  confined aquifer, the geology and conditions of the source give the water a unique mineral composition. In wine terms, it's the closest you get to water with terroir.
Tumblr media
Natural Mineral Water's subtle taste and terroir are determined by the minerals it contains. This minerality is measured in mgl and is called Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) or Total Dry Residue. This TDS can be measured with a TDS meter or water is evaporated at 180 degrees in a lab and the weight is measured of the minerals that are remaining. TDS includes all the minerals that are present in mineral waters. Depending on the TDS mineral waters can be divided into the following categories.
Super Low  0 - 50mgl
Low  50- 250 mgl
Medium  250- 800mgl
High  800 - 1,500mgl
Very High  1,500mgl & over
Minerals are usually absorbed from the earth. If your natural mineral water is glacier or iceberg water chances are it will usually have a super low TDS. However if you drink RO processed or purified packaged drinking water, the RO machines remove all minerals from the water along with impurities resulting in a super low or low TDS as well. High and very high TDS waters are not advised for daily consumption either. For eg.  Sea water has of 25000 mgl which makes it undrinkable. The TDS of Aava natural mineral water ranges from 280-320 which makes it a perfectly balanced medium minerality water. The WHO's ( World Health Organisation) Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality (GDWQ) recommend 300 as the ideal TDS.
If your mineral water is certified IS 13428 spring or underground spring water like Aava is, the TDS refers to the minerals that are essential for good health and an important part of your diet. These minerals have tremendous health benefits.
Magnesium (Mg ++)
Did you know that magnesium is responsible for 300+ biochemical reactions in your body Magnesium is important for the regulation of muscle contractions and the transmission of nerve impulses, and it activates energy-producing enzymes. The bone structure also relies on magnesium, and the element expands blood vessels, which lessens the risk of heart attack. Humans need at least 300-400 mg of magnesium each day and every litre of Aava naturally contains 11.5 mgl magnesium.
Calcium (Ca ++)
The many benefits of calcium include stabilizing the bone structure, teeth, and cell membranes; ensuring nerve and muscle impulses are properly transmitted; and help prevent blood clots. Bones decalcify (osteoporosis) and fractures become more likely if a body is not getting enough calcium. Adults and especially premenopausal women need 800-1200 mg calcium and every litre of Aava contains an average of 23mglitre.
Bicarbonate (HCO3-)
Present in all biological fluids, bicarbonate is essential for maintaining our bodies' pH balance. The substance is also found in stomach secretions. Lactic acid generated by physical activity is neutralized by bicarbonate dissolved in water; a similar process raises the pH of some acidic foods. Bicarbonates are the key to healthy digestion and curbing acid reflux and every litre of Aava contains at least 200-250 mg bicarbonate per litre.
Silica (SiO2)
Most adults need between twenty and thirty milligrams of silica daily. Silica reduces the risk of heart disease and may prevent osteoporosis; it also helps repair tissue by serving as an antioxidant. Hair and nails are strengthened by silica since its a key mineral for collagen production. Aava is one of India's only naturally alkaline mineral waters with a 12 mg silica content.
Sodium ( Na++)
A person's activity level determines their daily requirement of sodium. The heart's metabolism is affected by sodium, as is the regular contraction of the heart. This sodium is not the same as table salt that's consumed with food, since mineral water contains unprocessed, natural salt. Studies show how ingestion of mineral waters with sodium bicarbonate is beneficial in lowering cardiovascular risk factors, including blood pressure. Aava contains a low sodium content well below 100mgl.
Tumblr media
Besides these other trace minerals like potassium, fluorides and chlorides also play an important role to keep you healthy and hydrated.
The presence of these minerals does not make Aava a hard water. Equating TDS to water hardness is a common misconception. Hardness correlates only to the presence of calcium and magnesium. (Calcium x 2.5) + (Magnesium x 4) is the formula used to calculate this hardness and if the range falls under 120-180 mglitre, a water is considered to be hard. Hard water affects machines more than humans. Your drinking water must have slight hardness, since minerals are essential for wellness but if you're washing clothes, demineralised soft water will work better for your washing machine.
Aava has a TDS of 300, but its water hardness is only 101, which means Aava is a naturally alkaline mineral water that is only slightly hard. This makes it perfectly safe, healthy and ideal for daily consumption.
So the next time you worry about your water being too hard, check the source, make sure there are no impurities and check for the accurate mineral content to properly measure water hardness. Don't simply judge by the TDS.

Soda Water vs. Sparkling Water: What’s the difference?
Soda water and Sparkling water both have bubbles, but Sparkling water is a healthier and tastier choice. Find out why.
Tumblr media
Soda water and sparkling water are both forms of carbonated water. Both are used frequently as mixers for cocktails and mock tails, and both have zero calories. However there is a big difference between the two. Right from where the water is sourced, to its mineral composition and taste – read on to know what’s a healthier and tastier option for you to drink.
What is Soda Water?
You may refer to it as just soda, club soda or soda water – it’s all the same. Soda is a generic term for carbonated water – water that’s been infused with carbon dioxide gas under pressure. A popular substitute for sugary soft drinks, soda water is often used as amixer. Before the water is carbonated, it is usually purified using RO (Reverse Osmosis). RO removes all impurities from water, but it also removes all the naturally occurring minerals which give a water its taste. Hence carbonated soda water is tasteless with zero calories and just contains added CO2 for the taste.
What is Sparkling Water?
Certain rare geological conditions can produce naturally carbonated water; which is known as Sparkling Water. Naturally carbonated waters have historically been highly sought after for their supposed curative properties. The carbon dioxide helps this water absorb minerals in high levels. Joseph Priestley invented Sparkling waters 1767  by adding CO2 to natural mineral water. Current carbonation techniques involve pressurizing carbon dioxide before adding it to the water—the pressure increases the amount of carbon dioxide that will dissolve. Sparkling water, whether it’s naturally carbonated or carbonation is added – has a natural source and retains the goodness of its naturally occurring minerals. Hence Sparkling Water has a distinct taste and hydrates you well.
Know the main difference between soda and sparkling water..
Tumblr media
Origin and Processes
Sparkling water has a natural origin and a fixed single source from where the water is drawn. This could be spring water or an underground aquifer. This natural mineral water obtained from protected sources is pure enough that it requires no purification process and retains the goodness of the minerals that are present. Soda Water on the other hand can be sourced from anywhere, it could even be tap water that’s then purified using RO. This completely demineralises the water used to make club soda. Soda water involves artificial carbonation while sparkling mineral water comes from mineral springs or wells.
Flavour
Do you know how water gets its distinct taste? From the total dissolved solids (TDS) it contains a.k.a the minerals it contains. Sparkling water naturally contains calcium, magnesium, sodium and other minerals which impart a distinct flavour. Whereas soda water usually contains little to no added minerals and hence is largely tasteless
Health benefits
The presence of naturally occurring calcium, magnesium and other minerals makes Sparkling Water a more hydrating alternative compared to soda water. If you’re mixing it with spirit on a big night out, the minerals in Sparkling Water can even help your hangover the next day. Before Aspirin was invented in 1898, common digestive problems such as indigestion were best alleviated with a glass or two of natural volcanic spring water, rich in natural minerals. Since not everyone has access to volcanic sparkling water, that’s how carbonation for natural mineral water came about, since it also aids digestion. Compared to demineralised soda water or club soda, sparkling water hydrates you more efficiently.
If you are buying Sparkling Water in India, there aren’t too many local options available. Himalayan, Boca Fizz, Zoik source their water from the Himalayas, whereas Aava Natural Mineral Water has sparkling water originating from the Aravallis. Of them all Aava has a unique mix of minerals including silica which is great for collagen production and imparts a distinct, sweet taste to the water.
There’s a common misconception that Sparkling water is best enjoyed on its own, and soda water is better paired with spirits. Sparkling water is a great sugar-free, calorie-free mixer and can elevate any cocktail or mocktail. So the next time you’re enjoying a night out, ensure you’re hydrating yourself while enjoying a great tasting drink with some sparkling water.

What should you check before buying mineral water in India
With so many mineral water brands being sold online and in retail, here’s a checklist to ensure you’re making a healthy choice for yourself and the planet.
Tumblr media
With an estimated 12.2 per cent of urban households relying on bottled water for their drinking water needs, it's no surprise that there is a surplus of mineral water brands in India. But all bottled water is not the same. Do you know that 90% of mineral water brands in India are demineralized RO purified packaged drinking water brands? Imagine the irony of drinking mineral water without any minerals in it. Read on to know quick tips on how to choose mineral water that’s healthy and hydrating for you as well as the environment
For context you must know that the bottled water industry in India is divided into two categories - Packaged drinking water (IS 14543) and natural mineral water (IS 13428). It’s important to know this since in India it is illegal to sell water without a mandatory BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) license. In fact, to even obtain an FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) license for bottled water, one needs a BIS license first. As per the BIS there are only two acceptable categories of bottled water in India. There are about 6000 packaged drinking water licensed brands in India, and in comparison only 29 licensees of natural mineral water in India. That’s because packaged drinking water does not have a fixed water source and uses different purification methods, whereas natural mineral water can only be obtained from one single source and is bottled without any processes. Natural mineral water is a gift of nature, drinking it provides a unique taste and experience and it is a healthy choice for your wellbeing and also for the environment.
Water sommeliers all over the world only taste natural mineral water, read on to know why and what all you should check for before buying bottled water in India.
1. Check for the ISI mark and license number
Every mineral water brand in India must carry the BIS ISI Mark along with the FSSAI license number. If the license number specified is IS 14543 that means it's a packaged drinking water brand such as Bisleri, Aquafina, Kinley etc. Such brands can set up bottling facilities in multiple locations since water can be sourced from anywhere, and put through purification processes such as RO. If the license number is IS 13428 on the packaging, that means the bottled water is natural mineral water or underground spring water that’s bottled without any processes. In India there are only a handful of these brands with Himalayan and Aava natural mineral water having majority market share.

2. Look for the water source and processes if any mentioned to ensure ethical bottling. For every litre of water that’s purified using RO, 2 or more litres of water is wasted.
Think about when you buy vegetables, do you prefer to buy organic because you know who is growing your vegetables and where they are coming from? It’s the same with water.  When you buy IS 13428 natural mineral water, you will notice the source and the bottling location of the source mentioned on the packaging. This is important because it means the bottling facility has obtained the necessary and legal ground water NOC to ethically extract a limited amount of groundwater. It is illegal to operate without this mandatory groundwater NOC to prevent exploitation. Natural Mineral Water is originally pure and bacteria free so it needs no purification processes or any technology which causes water rejection. Packaged drinking water is purified using RO which can cause up to 75% water rejection in the process. Once RO removes all impurities and minerals, the water is treated with UV and Ozone to give it a longer shelf life. Thus when it comes to environmental impact, natural mineral water has a lower carbon footprint compared to packaged drinking water since there is zero water rejection in the process.
3. Check the mineral composition of bottled water. Is it natural?
Packaged drinking water is purified using RO (Reverse Osmosis), Uv Radiation, Ozonization for disinfection. That’s because there’s no fixed water source and these processes are needed to remove impurities from the water. But RO also removes all healthy natural minerals which are present in mineral water. Hence the end product is demineralised H20 with no minerals. Some brands re-add minerals since calcium and magnesium are considered essential for health by the WHO (World Health Organization). However none of the methods used for remineralisation can be considered adequate to positively impact human health the way natural minerals do. Studies show how natural mineral water certified under IS 13428 which contains natural minerals such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, bicarbonates etc is a bioavailable source of natural minerals that are needed for a healthy lifestyle.
4. All bottled and mineral water in PET bottles must have a buy-back price mentioned for efficient recycling.
To cut down on plastic pollution, the Plastic Waste Management Laws and Extended Producers Responsibility (EPR) regime in India are very stringent. PET is the most easily and fully recycled plastic and India recycles 90% of its PET waste due to a unique waste management ecosystem involving ragpickers and recyclers. This PET is then recycled into yarn, fabric, used for road making and construction. Under the EPR regime every food and beverage operator must have a buy-back price printed on plastic containers and be registered with the CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board). Consumers can take their PET waste back to the producers, or brands work with cloud recyclers who collect these containers to encourage efficient recycling. Very few bottled water brands are transparent about their waste management partners and policies in India. Bisleri has a waste collection program and Aava Natural Mineral Water is one of the few plastic neutral brands in India that recycles more PET than they produce tracked through the EPR regime. As a consumer it is important to be aware of your rights to ensure FBOs take their recycling responsibilities seriously.
5. Always check the price. Natural mineral water has a premium price for good reason.
If you are paying Rs 100 for natural mineral water, that’s worth it. Such water is ethically bottled, naturally healthy without processes and comes from protected natural sources that are located in remote, low density areas, so transportation is a huge cost. However if you are paying Rs 100 and for RO purified water, think again. If you have an RO machine at home you too can make this same water. Moreover packaged drinking water is usually supplied locally, so why are you paying a premium for it?
6. Don’t be fooled by fancy nomenclature like alkaline water. 90% of alkaline water brands are packaged drinking RO purified water just ionized with a superficial high pH.
One quick google search will lead you to many alkaline water brands, but before you purchase check for two aspects 1) does your alkaline water have a BIS license? 2) Is your bottled water naturally alkaline or ionized alkaline? Both of these parameters matter for your health and safety as a consumer. Naturally alkaline water contains essential minerals which raise the pH close to 8 and will carry an IS 13428 license. Ionized alkaline water is packaged drinking purified RO water that’s put through an ionizer to raise the pH through electrolysis. Such ionized alkaline water may or may not have minerals. Alkaline water is only healthy if it has alkaline minerals in it, merely a superficial high pH has no benefit. In India of all the natural mineral water brands Aava Natural Mineral Water is naturally alkaline with a pH of 8.
So next time choose wisely, because your choice affects your health and wellness.
