Meet Amarine Morissey! She has always loved the ocean so as soon as she heard about Sulani, she packed her bags and was there! Upon arrival she was awestruck. It was better than she had expected. The water was beautiful, the wildlife exotic, and the people so friendly! There was one person that caught her attention though. She didn't come to welcome her to the island like everyone else did. She was intrigued.

One night, at around midnight, she noticed someone go into the water. When Amarine walked over to see who it was she noticed something strange. It appeared the mysterious stranger didn't have any legs! Amarine figured it was just the moonlight playing tricks on the water, however she was determined to it out. Amarine followed the stranger for a few minutes, but when she rounded the corner, she saw no one. All of a sudden Amarine heard something coming from the cave to her right. The noise didn't sound human... Amarine's heart beat faster and faster as she entered the dark cave. To this day she has no idea why she went into the cave. The locals had warned her about it, but something drew her in. As she got further into the caves depths the noise became clearer. It was someone singing. This was the most beautiful singing voices Amarine had ever heard. The voice was mesmerizing. Eventually the stranger came into full view. Amarine was unable to tear her eyes away. She had a silver shimmery tail and bright purple hair down to her waist. Her eyes were a piercing blue and seemed to hold the whole ocean within them. The girl swam towards Amarine, pulled her into the water, and kissed her. As Amarine looked into the girls' eyes, the thought never crossed her mind that she could be in danger. She wanted to get to know this strange girl and learn all she could about mermaids. But much to Amarine’s dismay, the girl quickly swam away.

“Wait!” Amarine yelled. “Will I ever see you again?”

No answer. As she started to swim in the direction the girl went, she noticed something strange floating where the girl once was. Amarine picked it up and examined it. It looked like kelp, but it had a glow to it. Something told her to eat it, so she did. She didn’t know what she expected to happen, but whatever it was, it didn’t happen. She swam out of the cave and ran home.

As Amarine laid in bed she thought about the girl. She knew in her heart she would never see her again, and it made her sad. That night she dreamt about the girl with the silver tail. That morning she got up and ran her bath as usual, the events of the night before still on her mind. She sank down into the warm water and let the bubbles absorb her. When she came back she noticed a tail laying over the side of the tub, much like the girl’s.

“Cool,” said Amarine with a big smile on her face.
