Dude can't do something as comparably simple as making a car drive itself or designing a public transit system even half as efficient as busses, let alone trains, yet he thinks he can control the very nature of the single most complex object in the known universe? The arrogance is just staggering. Just look at what being that obscenely rich does to your mind.

Yeah! The emmissions may in large part be going into the production, transport and storage of consumer goods, but blaming the people at the very end who only really get to use what's made available to them for the deliberately unethical and unsustainable way the production chains have been set up only serves the greedy bastards who benefit from it continuing to be this way.
As an environmental something, don't you just hate like pre chopped vegetables and fruits in the grocery store? or like pre peeled clementines? lazy and wasteful. Just sharing bc it made me me mad at trader joes earlier
Hey! From an environmental perspective, these are infuriating! Like oranges pre-peeled? They come in their own packaging from nature, right? Who needs these? Some people have conditions and disabilities that make it near impossible peel an orange or cut up vegetables. These people deserve the same access to a healthy and balanced diet as everyone else. So yes, as an environmental scientist, these things can make my heart hurt for the planet. But as a human being, I will always advocate for equity and accessibility over anything else

I personally find it profusely annoying and sad that this has to be controversial. I wish it were just seen as commonly accepted fact. The parallels between nazi Germany and the US are striking and incredibly clear. It is known and proven that what the Americans did to the native peoples living on the land they coveted was like a proof of concept model for the Nazis to refine and iterate on. Really, the most surprising thing about the second world war is that the US ended up siding against their spiritual successor. Yet, unsurprisingly, it seems as though all of education and popular consensus is conspiring to make these settler colonial projects seem as separate as can be. One must go out of their way to find out even that this is what they both are. It's dangerous that Nazism is presented as a one off never before or since seen aberration of pure inexplicable and unprecedented evil. The US is the progenitor and global exporter of Nazism. Germany of the 1930s and 40s was merely an extremely eager student of it.
One of my spicier takes is that the United States is essentially what a successful Nazi Germany would have looked like.
A reason that Nazi Germany failed and why the US lives on to do imperialism another day in success, is that Nazi Germany burned too bright and too fast, which forced others to act that were previously willing to let it be because it was too heavy handed and started encroaching on other western powers.
The US on the other hand is much better at managing optics and pacing itself. The Democratic party acts like a coolant to prevent the US from running too hot; the Republican party being in power is like a gun in use, or some other sort of machine, while the DNC is the coolant that stops the machine from breaking down and causing domestic rebellion and international action.
They're played against eachother in team sports-style politics, but fundamentally they're both colonial right wing parties that act in concert to maintain the US and its imperialism. (If this sounds conspiratorial, this isn't conscious on most people's part and is just the way the US as a system stabilized.) If the Republicans are in power for too long it makes it possible for left wing movements to take advantage of brittle points that form in the "machine" and crack it, which is where the democrats come in.
As a result the US now has a body count that would make Nazi Germany absolutely salivate with envy.

Well this could be said for literally every industry ever
it really is unbelievable that gamers aren't the most anticapitalist demographic ever. like imagine if mobile game devs had their needs met and could make actual videogames instead of brainless filler between ads for other games that are also brainless filler between ads. imagine if games didn't need to be shoved out the door a year before they're ready filled with microtransactions because shareholders wanna see a line go up. imagine if studios were owned and run by the people making the games and not business bros who have never touched a videogame. how is this not an automatically won battle

Yeah, when a fictional utopian world is shown to fall apart due to a need for conflict, inequality and suffering, I see that as nothing more than an author expressing an opinion shaped by the experiences and ideological narratives characteristic of current society.
Every time a story is like "this enlightened civilization solved war, scarcity, and disease but doing so only made life boring and meaningless because you need Suffering for anything to be worthwhile" I just wonder how they even made it that far with seemingly not even a concept of games or simulated conflict in general.

Fellas is it gay to help a friend??
“Oh boo hoo you shouldn’t ask your friends for favors we’re all adults”
I just spent three hours pulling up carpet and staples for a friend’s home renovation and we all did nothing but chat and joke and have wonderful conversation the whole time.
Helping somebody move or renovate or giving them a ride to the airport is functionally the same as going mini-golfing or playing a board game: it’s an activity that you do that is made more fun by having good company, and which provides something to talk about when the conversation lulls.

This is why I'm always flipping art I'm working on. Spend a while drawing it one way, flip it around and draw it the other way, to the point that I forget which is the original orientation. This is especially important for poses, since I can't for the life of me seem to draw a character who's not leaning over to one side way too much.
Unfortunately, as we draw, we may end up naturally introducing certain structural issues we're not aware of into the art. Without a way to correct for them early on, we just keep adding on top of those core problems and become accustomed to things looking as they do. In a sense, we acclimate to the drawing's flaws. Flipping the canvas is an effective way to quickly gain a new perspective on the artwork, to break through that acclimation. After all, if there's problems in one orientation, there's problems in the other.
why do my drawings look horrible when I flip them backwards??? what are the mirror people doing to my art????
