Author's note ⋅ I hope this fic reminds people that getting a bad score doesn't define who you are. for those struggling with their studies right now, know that you're not alone. <3

closing your laptop as you sigh, wanting nothing more than to plop on your bed and go to sleep for the next 2 days.

and you did just that, except you needed to get up in 6 hours. you opened your phone while getting tucked in your bed trying to get in a comfortable position.

going through your contacts and face timing jo's number. he picks up quite fast considering the time, you smile immediately at the sight of him laid down on his bed comfortably. "did I wake you? sorry."

"no! not at all, I just got out of the shower." "okay, good. I just finished studying I'm so tired."

he frowns, slightly. "you should go to bed and rest your eyes. don't worry too much about the exam, I know you can do it."

"thank you and I will. do you mind staying on the phone with me? I don't wanna be alone right now."

"of course." he agrees in a heartbeat.

"goodnight, jo."

"goodnight y/n, I love you."

you let out a small breathy laugh, "I love you too." you say going to bed with a smile on your face.

after the exam, you walked out of the classroom with your head low, looking down at shoes only looking forward to seeing jo in the hallways.

you looked up from your shoes after someone had stopped in front of you, coming face to face with your boyfriend.

he pulls you in a warm hug with a small smile on his face before pulling away. "you seem down, what's up?"

"nothing, I just got a bad score on the test I stayed up on last night. just disappointed a bit, I thought I would've gotten a better score this time." you said with a weak smile on your face.

"awh, it's okay there's always a next time. what score did you get? if you want to tell me."

"I got a 21 out of 30." you say silently.

"oh that's not that bad! I got an 18 on that test.." he scratches his head in the middle of his sentence with an embarrassed smile.

"no way, really?" you blurt out in disbelief , looking at him with wide eyes.

"uhuh." he laughs, noticing you've brightened up. bringing his hand up to your head and playing with your hair, "well I have to get to class. meet me in the cafeteria at lunch, okay? don't let that score bother you too much, don't let it define you."

"okay. I'll see you at lunch, thank you jo."

Request ⋅ Can I request a K or Jo fic where they are tired and exhausted from working and readers comforts , makes them feel comfortable and just fluffy moments.

you sniffle silently in your room, using the sleeves of your sweater to wipe your tears off your face when you start to hear footsteps walking towards your bedroom. you turn around from your desk, now facing your bedroom door as you watch jo slowly open the door. after closing the bedroom door from behind him, he looked up from his phone, his eyes finding your face covered in tears.

in a moment of seconds, his face turns from relaxed to concern. he breathes in, making to keep himself calm before speaking up, "y/n? what happened?" he says in a soft tone, sitting down on the bed next to your desk.

somehow, every time you're feeling down you don't feel the need to break down unless someone points it out or asks about it. that one, innocent question was all it took for you to break down crying in jo's arms.

tears start pouring down your face while jo holds you in his arms. "it's okay, love." he starts rubbing circles on your shoulder while you sob. "I'm- so tired, jo. I'm so tired." you managed to say, he nods, "I know. I know."

you continue to cry while he tries to comfort you, after 15 minutes he's gotten you to calm down, bringing you a glass of water and rubbing your back.

once you're back to a stable condition, he asks you once again, "what happened?"

you look at him with so much exhaustion in your eyes, "I'm just so tired, jo. these past few months I've done nothing but study and study yet I still have so much to do. I feel so worn out, I just wanna rest."

he simply nods, listening and trying to understand you more. "I understand, y/n." he says, reaching out for you hand and creasing your thumb with his. "how about this, lets get ice cream this saturday and watch movies and on sunday I'll help you study? how does that sound?"

you hug him, suddenly. "thank you so much jo."

"I love you more than anything." he whispers into your ear.

the few minutes of silence was broken by harua speaking up, "oh- I- um.. y/n, I think I needed to put more oil.." you look over to his direction, finding him holding a pretty burnt pan in his hands with a burnt egg on it. "oh rua." you say, smiling to yourself finding him cute.

before you could say anything, or make your way to him, he runs away to his bedroom and hides under the covers, wishing that the world would just swallow him whole.

you clean the pan the fastest you can, it ends up taking you 20 minutes anyway but you were able to make another fried egg for harua within the same 20 minutes. thankfully, the pan didn't melt.

you knock on haruas bedroom door holding a plate of two fried eggs. you let yourself in, knowing to yourself he won't say anything— you opened the door slowly, your eyes finding harua busy doing something on his desk. you walk up to him, giving him the eggs while his head hangs low.

"rua, it's okay. it's not a big deal, mistakes happen it's nothing to be embarrassed about."

he opens his mouth to say something but backs down and just sighs. you stay silent, letting him collect his thoughts before he finally speaks up again.

"I know, it's just.. It's just an egg and I couldn't do it."

"and that's totally fine."

"no it isn-"

"rua, it's okay. it's not like it's the last time. we can try again."

"okay.. I made you a bracelet, because I feel bad."

you smile widely while he hands you the bracelet. "thank you. you didn't have to."

the previous night, kei had told you he was gonna be a substitute teacher for a 3rd grade class.

you thought this was a great opportunity for him so he could explore the nature of kids seeing as you were newly weds, but you could tell he was anxious.

he was quiet the whole night and was clinging onto you more than usual, he even started to shake his leg again.

it was now the day after, you woke up early to help kei prepare. making him breakfast and coffee, ironing his clothes for him and giving him a kiss goodbye.

now the day was coming to an end, the sky getting darker by the second. you had just finished making dinner and now you had nothing left to do but wait for kei.

soon, you hear the door open followed by his footsteps. kei sat down next to you on the couch with his head low.

calling his name out, he looked up at you and you saw how red his eyes were. "oh, love what happened..?"

"I- I couldn't do it. they wouldn't listen to me a-and I couldn't even break up a fight, I even accidentally made one of them cry while trying to make things fair in the classroom. how am I ever going to be a father?"

you placed your hands on his before speaking up, "kei.. it's okay. it was your first time! when it's time for the real thing, we'll be a team. I know you tried your best, even if things didn't work out how you wanted it to."

he looks up at you with hopeful eyes, looking hesitant to say something. without warning, he hugs you and cries silently into your neck. "I love you so much, i wouldn't know what to do without you.

Author's note ⋅ this is a bit different from my other works so if it's kinda bad it's because i'm not used to writing stuff like this! :[ I literally cried myself while writing this lololol

every year, on the date of your death anniversary you come down to the land to stand guard of your grave.

whenever this time of the year comes around, you like to play a game with yourself – you guess who'll stay on your grave the longest.

it's been 4 years now, you've won a couple of times in the span of those 4 years. usually, it was your mother or one of your siblings. the one time you were wrong was when you guessed your sister but your best friend stayed the longest.

now, it was that time of the year again. February 17 – your death anniversary.

you sat on the grass beside your tomb and waited for people to arrive, each year the numbers of people that come to visit you get lower, but this was something you had expected the moment you wrapped the rope around your neck.

it was a cloudy day, will anyone even come? the day had just began and you were already thinking negatively, you get snapped out of this the second you start hearing foot steps and the voices of 2 familiar people.

you looked into the distance and saw it was your mother and your sister. this immediately lit you up though you knew they wouldn't last long because they hadn't brought anything with them like a picnic blanket, food or anything but it was nice to see them.

they talked to you or a bit, explaining why your father and your brother couldn't make it, updating you on things that has happened since the last time they came.

they lasted about 25 minutes before leaving, your mom didn't cry this anniversary – this relieved you. you didn't want to burden herself and this was the first year she visited without crying, this made you feel like you could move on and stop worrying about her.

an hour after they left, your group of friends from highschool came and spent 3 hours with you. seeing them again felt like a breath of fresh air, it seems like they've spent the longest today even though it was only 2pm. this year you hadn't guessed anyone as the amount of people coming to see you had lessened, it felt pointless.

but this particular day isn't the day you chose to burden yourself or drown yourself in regrets.

without notice, it was already 6pm and so far they have been the only ones to visit you. just as you were about to get up and look at other graves you heard footsteps coming towards your tomb.

you look up and see a tall, pale man dressed in black pants and a black turtle neck.

he sits down in front of your tomb before laying down a bouquet of red roses and removing his mask.

that's when realization hits you.

Koga Yudai. your first love, your best friend, your everything. in the span of 4 years, he has never visited you. you were childhood bestfriends, he left to pursue his dream when you were 15, he swore to comeback in a couple of years but being without him and having other mental problems consumed you which is what lead you to ending your life. you never got to confess your love to him

he brushes his hair out of his face, he looks hesitant – like he has so much to say but can't get any words out.

just as he opens his mouth – he breaks down crying, moving his hands from his lap onto his face.

"I-Im s-so sorry." he sobs out, it doesn't take you long to follow, tears quickly forming in your eyes.

you just sit there, staring at him with pity.

"I'm s-so sorry it took me so long to visit, I'm so sorry for leaving I-I.." he pauses, he knows he wont be able to say another word if he doesn't calm himself down.

he calms down in the slightest, wiping his tears away while more come pouring down. "I'm sorry. I wish I hadn't left, then maybe none of this would've happened. m-maybe to you we were bestfriends but to me you were everything. y/n, I was in love. maybe this is too late, and it's stupid to tell you now that- that you can't even listen but I can't live knowing I never told you. I love you, in every way you can imagine. I love you and everything about you, I wish right now I could be telling you this with you alive, in front of me but it's too late. If this is how I have to do it, I will. I went everywhere to find these flowers, I remember-" he lets out a laugh before continuing, "I remember I used to pick out the same roses from school because you'd always talk about them. remember the mystery person that left roses on your table? that was me."

you sat next to him while he rambled, telling you everything that he's achieved, also telling you secrets he did in highschool just to get you your favorite things.

he left at 11pm, just before your time came at 12am. you lost guessing this year, but it was worth it.

new years was coming up, and for you and other idols this meant dispatch revealing a relationship within the industry.

for 2023 it was iu and lee jongsuk, for 2021 it was hyunbin and sonyejin, the list goes on and it's become a yearly tradition.

after hiding form the public for quite some time, you and maki have finally decided to reveal you relationship to fans.

after putting a lot of thought to it, you decided it would be the best for the both of you to announce your relationship instead of it being called out by someone else.

it started off casually, taking pictures with the same background and posting them at the same time, posting a picture of the same set of clouds

it went on with simple things like that until it escalated to full on posting your hand in makis, selcas of you with maki beside you hiding his face

people caught onto what your posts were hinting at and started shipping you and maki not knowing you were already together.

because of the positive reactions from fans, your company finally allowed you and maki to reveal your relationship to the public, an article by them was made confirming the relations between you and maki.

the positive feedback and supportive comments left by fans and other idols felt like a breath of fresh air for the both of you.

for the longest time the you were scared of what the public would think and what they would say to bring you down, but their reactions were the complete opposite of what you thought.
