Greene’s amendment included the following language: “No funding shall be made available to Ukraine unless restrictions on ethnic minorities’, including Hungarians in Transcarpathia, right to use their native languages in schools are lifted.”
Political pundit ‘Jay in Kyiv’ responded: “The amendment that Marjorie Taylor Greene just proposed to sabotage the Ukraine bill is something that is such a nuanced Russian disinfo narrative that it could have only come directly from her Russian handlers.
“The notion that Hungarians are being persecuted in Ukraine is insane BUT it’s being pushed by both Orban (who was promised a piece of Ukraine by Putin) and Russian disinfo machine. For an American to suggest this really confirms she is being handled.”
Note: ‘Transcarpathian’ is an English term describing Zakarpattia Oblast, a region in western Ukraine that borders Hungary. Hungarians living in Ukraine (12.1% of the the Transcarpathian population is Hungarian) have criticized Ukraine’s 2017 education law which makes Ukrainian the required language of study in state schools.
American political scientist Tom Nichols responded to ‘Jay in Kyiv’, writing: “I’ve been pretty hard over on dissuading people from thinking that dumb and odious people like MTG are knowing Russian assets, and that they’re mostly performance artists. But yes, someone on her staff (or some other Republican staff) had to cough up ‘Transcarpathian.'”

When even Murdoch's NY Post thinks that MTG is using Russian talking points, maybe it's time to pay attention.

“I don't want to see religious bigotry in any form. It would disturb me if there was a wedding between the religious fundamentalists and the political right. The hard right has no interest in religion except to manipulate it.” ― Billy Graham
Billy Graham was right about the hard right. But he was so religiously blinded he thought that the Bible — not civil rights legislation or a social safety net — would “cure” racism and poverty. He was a science denier. He was an anti-statist whose philosophy was grounded in apocalyptic prophecy. And he was mates with Richard Nixon. In addition, his embrace of Reagan opened the door for the hard right's takeover of Republican politics.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukrainian and Western leaders on Sunday welcomed a desperately needed aid package passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, as the Kremlin warned that passage of the bill would “further ruin” Ukraine and cause more deaths.
Ukrainian leaders and analysts say the long-awaited $61 billion military aid package — including $13.8 billion for Ukraine to buy weapons — will help slow Russia’s incremental advances in the war’s third year — but that more will likely be needed for Kyiv to regain the offensive.
The House swiftly approved $95 billion in foreign aid for Ukraine, Israel and other U.S. allies in a rare Saturday session as Democrats and Republicans banded together after months of hard-right resistance over renewed American support for repelling Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who had warned that his country would lose the war without U.S. funding, said that he was grateful for the decision of U.S. lawmakers.

Trump supporters echo pro-Palestinian ‘genocide Joe’ chant
It’s unclear what they meant by it, as Trump has pledged similarly strong support for Israel
Tumblr media
SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. — “Genocide Joe” is a phrase used by pro-Palestine protesters against President Biden because of his unconditional support of Israel amid its onslaught in Gaza. But supporters of former president Donald Trump adopted the chant at his campaign rally Saturday night — even as Trump similarly pledged unconditional support of Israel hours after Iran launched retaliatory drone and missile strikes into the country this weekend.
I feel like I have stepped into Bizarro world. If Trump had been president at the time of the Oct. 7th Hamas attack, Trump would have been just as (if not more) supportive of Israel's attempt to destroy Hamas by attacking Gaza as Biden has been. In fact, after Iran's attack, Trump is currently pledging unwavering support for Israel, and calling Biden's response "weak."
It seems to me that the MAGA folks shouting "Genocide Joe" are just echoing the insults thrown at Biden by some on the left--even though these same MAGA folks, if Trump becomes president, would undoubtedly cheer Trump on in supporting Israel's military.
In addition, Israel is not the only place where genocide is happening in the world. Genocide is happening by Putin against the people of Ukraine. (Curiously, some on the left who protest Israel's actions are strangely silent about the Ukrainian genocide.) With Trump in the Oval Office, there will be no one to stop Putin from committing more genocide against the people of Ukraine and of other Eastern European nations that Putin wants to invade.
This is an example of how the far right and some on the left can wittingly or unwittingly join together to set the stage for Trump to win the election and usher in a "Christian" nationalist/ neofascist state (especially through Project 2025)--a state that enables even further genocide by Israel AND by Putin (who actually is the closest person we currently have to Hitler on the planet).
I really wish that more Americans would study the history of the Weimar Republic. Infighting on the left enabled the fascists to rise. Infighting on the left can result in Trump being able to win the White House and impose his neofascist agenda on all of us. And if some on the left think that Biden is "evil," they ain't seen nothing yet.

Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene laid into Speaker of the House Mike Johnson on Friday, criticising his support for a legislative package that includes funding for Ukraine and accusing him of bothering Donald Trump by meeting with him.
Speaking with Steve Bannon on his show War Room, Ms Greene said that Mr Johnson supporting a US spending bill that would send funding to Ukraine made her “stomach flip over”.
“The American people are the ones writing the cheque and I absolutely hate everybody here doing this,” Ms Greene said. “I mean I seriously hate them for doing this for the American people and paying for the murder and slaughter of the people in Ukraine.”
