SOMETHING  ABOUT  FORTHRIGHT  ENTHUSIASM  has  a  nasty  habit  of  taking  him  off-guard.  All  the  while  ashen  brows  knit  themselves  loosely,  entrenched  in  his  skepticism.  Eyes  armour-clad  warrior  with  an  expectation  in  mind,  scrutinizes  for  the  barest  bone  of  irony,  sarcasm,  or  whatever  the  hell  the  emotion  was  lurking  behind  donned  chrome  helmet, and  gold-tinted  glow  of  lenses.  No  retaliation to  be  struck  in  remark,  except  for  sincerity  sprinkled  gratitude.     And  it  throws  him,  completely.  

An  attentive  ear  picks  up  the  pace  for  him,  he  stands  taller  now,   humoured  by  just  what  he  was  hearing.  Lips  quirk  with  lop-side  grin,  jacketed  shoulders  rising  as  quickly as  they  fall.   Hero's  always  been  a  broad  term;  different  views,  different  people.  And  Nero’s  always  had  the  luck  of  standing  somewhere  by  that  hazy  middle   (  Fortuna’s  liberator   or    iconoclast ?  ).  Stretches  the  imagination  and  tries  to  think  of  devil  hunters  adhering  to  the  same  principle.  What  a  damn  disaster.  ❝   Guess  I’ve  just   never  heard  of  heroes  rakin’  in  the  sponsorship  deals.  ❞  Takes  another  glance  to  the  outwards  plating  lining  cybernetic  suit,  and  a  few  more  emblazoned  adverts  slip  into  view.

              given it too much thought   ?     he's guilty of never having followed through that task.     higher ups were,     generally speaking,     the ones that struck deals with other companies for the heroes' sponsorships     ———     apollon media's ultimately responsible for most,     if not all,     sponsors plastered onto hero's suit.     concept seemed rather ludicrous    :    why were sponsorships a requisite to be a hero   ?     (   he's a walking advertisement   !   )     perhaps setting it aside from any of his thoughts is what primarily aided him thus far.     it's such a minor nuisance in the grande scheme of things   !     so long as dream job is still being performed,     he'll likely be content with whatever's thrown his way.     veteran or not.

              ❛     it's an important part of it,     i guess.     both for the companies we work under    &    our income   !     ❜       boisterous laugh,     metallic hand coming up to rub at nape of suit's neck.     a habit of his,     even in the guise of a civilian,     albeit now executed while in his suit.     it seemed peculiar,     perhaps more so by the fact his face is yet to be shown.     domino mask is on,     so worries aren't anything he has in his mind   !     (   despite the mask's ineffectiveness,     barely hides anything   )     hand comes up to pull up mask of cybernetic suit,     if only to make conversation appear much more amiable    ;    one's facial expressions tells a story, after all   !       ❛     that's not important to me,     though.     i just want to help people.     that's wild tiger's wish   !       ❜     clear enunciation alongside proud grin that grew onto his lips,     hero's enthusiasm was no longer hidden behind impassive mask.     ❛     oh,     &    the reason why companies want us to wear these ...     ❜     hums a bit,     he can shorten a long explanation.     ❛     if we get more points on hero tv,     we'll be a higher rank by the end of the season   !     the hero with the highest rank has sponsors on their suit,     so you'll probably wanna support those sponsors if you're a fan of that hero,     right   ?     that might be why,     but don't take my word for it   !     ❜     sheepish laugh escapes him.     despite that philosophy,     he's still pretty low in the rankings.

it was easy to see the mental gymnastics taken. a pause, a few seconds allotting contemplation, and a grin far too embarrassed for a confident answer to follow.
