Spy x Family season 3 announced!

Season 3 was just announced at the Anime Extra Mission event that's currently going on today in Japan!

No release date yet but it's in production, so we should get more info soon!

The above image has so many hints about the chapters the new season will adapt 😃 I won't discuss what each one is here for those who aren't caught up with the manga and don't want to be spoiled (plus it's almost my bedtime now, lol). But I'm sure other people will get on it!

I'll just end this post by saying...HYPE!!!

Ok off the bat things in the season 3 poster WHICH I AM SO EXCITED FOR WOW

- a schoolbus shining light on her (bus hijacking incident)

- the door creaked open on her with what I think is both Loid and Yor’s… shoes? At first I thought it was just loid, and I would’ve said that’s referencing his backstory, but I think they’re there just because they’re the other main characters yk

- a play soldier helmet (😭😭😭😭)

- a volleyball (Yor and Melinda and the women’s club- I don’t remember the name right now)

- a tea set, which I think Yor had tea with the women if I’m remembering correctly

- an onion (😭😭😭😭😭) (he’s chopping onions when he’s recruited)

- I know the tag in the right-hand corner has something to do with Loid’s backstory. I think the whole corner over there is dedicated to him, just as the left corner is for Yor.

Honestly I’m not sure if the lamp has any significance, especially since it’s shining a light, but they might’ve needed another object in the poster.

I think the light making a star shape probably references the Stella she will earn this season. I wonder how many chapters they’ll cover, though. Each season/cour has covered about three volumes’ worth of story, so if this is similar, the anime will have pretty closely caught up to the manga. This poster is mostly just showing things from volumes 10 and 11, so I’m wondering if this season will just be a bit more drawn out and only include things from those chapters.

Anyways, I’m excited!! This announcement came sooner than I thought!!

As if the season 3 announcement several hours ago wasn't exciting enough, now we have one hell of a new chapter 😭

It's just one tragic event after another...Martha can't bring herself to confess to Henry (and regrets it later), her letter gets censored so she's left waiting in vain to see him, she's basically forced to join the front lines or be killed, meanwhile Henry is struggling to figure out his own feelings but then has a total breakdown when he thinks Martha's dead, gets beaten up and thrown in jail, then is coerced by his father into marrying someone else. Gosh, these two just can't catch a break 😓

But my favorite part of this chapter is young Donovan Desmond's speech. What he says here so perfectly conveys the overall conflict of Spy x Family and sets him up as the ideal antagonist.

The series has shown us over and over how people are indeed liars, but it's also shown us time and time again how amongst all the lies, mostly through the Forgers, that people can still come to understand each other. Donovan's view is one of hopelessness - that true understanding can never be attained and human beings will always wage war, and while the series doesn't downright portray this as false, it does show that there is hope...that, even though people will never stop committing atrocities, at the very least, a middle ground of peace can be found even amongst those who lie to survive.

Donovan believes that we can never know the true intentions of others because we ourselves are hiding our own true intentions...the Forgers are hiding their true intentions, but in spite of that, they've come to love and understand each other. Like Twilight said when he first met Donovan, he won't ever stop trying to understand others and will always try to meet them "in the middle" if he can. Again, this is why Donovan is shaping up to be a great "final boss" who challenges the hopeful message the series has advocated so far. Another example of how, even though this arc seemingly has nothing to do with the Forgers, Endo still ties it back to them and the story overall.

Now the question for the next chapter is...who saved Martha? Also, judging by Henry's reaction when he first sees Martha in the present time (pictured below, chapter 72 during the bus hijacking arc), it doesn't seem like he had thought she was dead at that point. So he must have found out somehow before this that she had survived.

We'll have to wait until next time to find out! Even as the series hits chapter 100, Endo isn't done with this tragic love story just yet 😅

How does a Action-Comedy Manga has such a pure, heartfelt and at the same time tragic and heartbreaking love stories.... It's something so wholesome...

Spy x Family is soooo...

Because at some point or the other, we understand what's going on with Martha or Henry -

Even in today's age we struggle to express our feelings freely, we chicken out at the last moment and then keep thinking back to what-ifs. Let alone doing so in a war-ridden world.

We can relate to Martha...

And there's this situation....

It's always difficult to keep in touch with someone who is even a city away... Distance is the biggest enemy of any relationship - platonic or romantic.

War changes a person, i think we've seen it so many times in the history...

It broke my heart when i read this😭

On a side note, if being pessimist was a person, it would be him -

Because while i understand where this narration is coming from... This simply can't be the only outlook of everyone in the world... If it was, this world might have burned to the ground ages ago.

But it also seems that kids seen some shit to turn out to be the man he is today... And honestly i can't wait for his back story too... because the question comes, is it a generational trauma that got him? Is it the war-ridden society? How did the situation get more fucked up, leading upto experimenting on humans?

All that shit... it just went down the hill from this...

Any ways, i was downright crying by the end of the chapter. Knowing Henry tried to move on, thinking Martha was never coming back... Only for Martha to be out there near the east-west border...
