"Whereas Dean can't acknowledge or handle his anxiety, so he leans more and more into his anger. Later season Dean roughs up a vulnerable teenager and I just don't think early Dean would have done that. "
And What I say is you're wrong. He didn't "lean more and more into his anger" because "Dean can't acknowledge his anxiety". Both boys have anxiety & anger. They showed it differently, especially because Dean's anger was more justified in the show while Sam's not.
Also if you watch the show properly, you will be able to remember Dean slap the kid in S6. The situation justified his action but that was something he always had inside.
Is Dean's anger issue from toxic masculinity? Yes. Dean couldn't acknowledge his anxiety because of toxic masculinity? Yes. Is Dean's anger issue of late seasons from his hidden anxiety? No. That's just poor justification for a man who has an anger issue.

Really?
Dean grabbed Sam by the collar and pushed him at the PILOT. Dean punched Sam at least two times because of his anger in S2, crushed impala he was fixing with anger in the same season. He always has been that way, if you don't believe this I can make a list of dean being violent because of anger only from Kripke and Gamble's era.
The anger and the violent expression were ALWAYS part of his character, but people just didn't notice because always his anger has been justified in the show. People were like, yeah, Dean totally is allowed to act out, he deserves to be angry. Unlike Sam. Sam always had to push it down.
The only reason why people have an idea of "Dean suddenly became rough in the late seasons" is because of a bad writing which failed making Dean's anger to be understood by audiences.
If there is another reason, it's because Dean's anger and his acting out has always been justified, so his character never got to be changed. The society has changed, we don't accept those kinds of acting out no more.

isn’t it the right time to bring this back
wow look at that big bad sam full of anger with no reason at all? He’s being aggressive just because people shoved him and told him to die! It’s not like Sam has a PTSD of people trying to kill him because he’s a ‘freak’!

the real thing much to think about is how people see Sam’s issue as just an “intense anger issue” when he literally had a vision of bunch of people cursing and threatening to kill him.
The problem was you. It was always you. The lies...your arrogance...the black spot on your soul.
SAM is very confused and anguished. Other patients surround him. A female patients faces him.
Now we're all gonna die because of you.
It's all your fault. You killed all of us. Pathetic freak.
MALE PATIENT shoves SAM into the other patients.
You evil son of a bitch!
The patients shove him as they speak.
Loser.
Grow up and die!
Freak!
Unable to take it anymore, SAM begins hitting the other patients.
SAM: Leave me alone! Leave me alone! Leave me alone! No! Stop it! Leave me alone! Leave me alone! I didn't do it! Get off of me! Leave me alone! Get off! No! Leave me alone!
wow this is so about sam’s anger issue, the problem is his intense anger with no reason that he can’t control, absolutely not, this is never about his past of being a freak and being treated like a freak, not a fear of being killed by dad, his own brother or hunters he doesn’t even know, just because he is Sam Winchester.
