a straight faced expression colored jonas’ features when the other spoke of how he could make his coworkers know he didn’t like them. he would have to remember to stay on sangjun’s good side if he could manage it, he supposed. maybe teaching him how to make carbonara would keep him in the clear. “ so you intimidate people, ” he nodded as he spoke, as if he were still trying to make sense of it; perhaps it wasn’t the wisest choice of words. “ i guess that would probably keep people in check… it’d be kind of stupid to bother the person who keeps things in check already, wouldn’t it? ” jonas wasn’t quite sure why he was asking. he was quite aware of the answer. he was also quite aware that people were inherit stupid; himself included. an eyebrow had risen once he met sangjun’s gaze again, following his question, which he could only answer with one of his own. “ have you threatened anyone before? at work? ” he wasn’t sure of the answer to that one; wasn’t too sure he wanted to guess, either.
when sangjun took the plate that was offered, jonas found an easy time across his mouth once more. he enjoyed simple gestures. “ are you sure? ” he asked, and his gaze wandered to the dishes he had been washing minutes before. “ i’m already kind of in cleaning mode. tell you what, if you finish and i’m still not done cleaning the kitchen, i’ll take care of it. if not, you’ll be left to your own devices. ”
Tumblr media
there's a grin that pulls on the edges of sangjun's lips at the other's straight face as he attempts not to chuckle at it. "i'm messing with you, jonas." he tries to keep a straight face as he speaks, brow raising at the other before finally caving and chuckling at the other. "i've been told i have resting bitch face but i don't intimidate people unless they're breaking club rules. i'm actually pretty laid back otherwise, even though my job title and facial expression might say otherwise." sam explains, slender fingers combing through blonde locks as the grin finally makes a statement on his features. "you'd be surprised at the amount of people who think that just because i'm of smaller stature than them, they don't have to listen to me. that and they don't expect me to actually be able to do anything about them being jerks." the male continues with a shrug of his shoulders. "other than the people that my coworkers or other club goers come to me and complain about, no." sangjun replies, though it isn't completely true.. there's been a few people who've gotten under his skin for talking to a certain coworker of his, but that was a story for another time.
it only takes sam a few seconds after grabbing the plate to make his way over to one of the containers, digging out silverware that'd assist him in putting some of the pasta onto the plate. "i'm positive, you've already offered me food.. there's no way i'm gonna let you clean up after me." he chuckles lightly, portioning out enough pasta to fill him up before turning back around to face the other. "or you just clean up the kitchen and let me get my own plate, even if you're not done before i am?"

Tumblr media
TO THE EYES, most people would assume that jiyong was one of those guys, the type of guy who sleeps around, gets with everyone and anyone he can, little bit of a heartbreaker — little did almost everybody know that he was the complete opposite. jiyong never adventured out sexually, only really knowing he wasn’t straight when he was thirteen and having kissed a few guys. nobody ever special went for him, nobody showed a decent amount of interest in him growing up, and he never had crushes on guys. sure, he thought there were many guys around him who he found attractive, but never anybody that he had a crush on. it was mostly because the majority of them had shitty personalities, and because they were straight. so when jiyong lays eyes on sangjun, he can’t help but be intrigued, be interested in the person that he was. it was odd, to be interested in someone more so than he had been ever before, as he didn’t have the knowledge of feelings or the emotional aspect of it, let alone the romantic side. all he knew when he first saw him, was that the weird feeling in his stomach was different, and jiyong kind of wanted to figure out why.
jiyong had seen many people flirt with sangjun when they were working, some being girls with way too much perfume on, boobs pushed up with a maximised bra that would sure be embarassing when they were to take it off. some being guys who would walk up to him with that beat in their walk, small smirk itching on the ends of their lips and what he can assume would be callous hands attempting to lay a hand on him. and sure, there had been the odd few times where sangjun had allowed them, causing an unsettling and fire like feeling in his stomach and body. a sight he did not want to see, yet his eyes were stuck on the scenes, almost like it was a movie and he had to see the ending. and jiyong was sure there had been at least once or twice where the elder had purposefully looked over at him behind the bar and smirked before looking back, as if it were game and he was losing. it was then, that jiyong threw the rag on the bar and told himself ‘two can play that game’. if he wanted to play dirty, jiyong could play nasty. that was when the game started between the two, them both wanting to one up the other and make each other give in. truthfully, if it was a real game, both of them would have lost, considering there has one too many times where the other has caved in and scared off whoever was hitting on the other. a simple, surprising big kiss on the lips and hands claiming what was their’s, eyes glaring at whoever was trying to make a move and shooing them away. there was no way that sangjun would let anyone hit on jiyong, and there was certainly no way that jiyong would let anybody hit on sangjun.
each time he would head off to a secluded area of the club, jiyong would always see sangjun follow him not long after. knowing exactly what he wanted, he’d do in a matter of seconds, simply because he had that affect on jiyong. he hated that he felt so weak at the knees just by a mere glance from sangjun, or when his large, warm hands would grab jiyong, like he was claiming what was his and marking his territory. no matter what, the bartender couldn’t help nor stop the brewing feelings for the bouncer, and as much as he knew what kind of guy he was, he couldn’t help it. jiyong felt the way his eyes would burn into his back or the side of his head when someone would flirt with him as they were ordering at the bar, or the way sangjun’s aggression and sternness would seep through his words when he’d tell the customer off, requesting them to leave jiyong alone or they’d simply be escorted off the premises. there had even been the odd few times where jiyong had witnessed near fights because some people had just been too drunk.
at this point in time, he knew he had to get an answer out of sangjun. was this just a fun little game that was more advanced than he thought? or were there genuinely some sort of feelings lost somewhere between the lines they’d set before? jiyong glances up at him, eyes gleaming with a hint of playfulness, fingers still running against the endless bottles of alcohol as if it were the soft, pale skin of the elder. “shouldn’t you already know the answer to that, sir?” he speaks, letting his lips stay open, tongue peeking out from the corner ever so slightly. he turns around, back leans against the cabinet and lets his head roll back slightly, then to the side. “i think,” he starts, pushing himself off the cabinet and slowly pushes himself closer. “we both know the answer to that. don’t we?” whispers, his soft voice like a melody as he speaks, leaning in closer to the elder and lets his lips run over the skin of his jawline. letting a breathless, amused laugh leave his mouth, he moves his head back, yet still close enough that they could both feel each other’s hot breath. he can see sangjun stepping closer, and before he knows it, his back hits the wall, cornered by the elder. jiyong grins slightly, eyes looking at sangjun as he lets one of his hands stroke his cheek. “i think..” he says, hand slides down from his cheek and down his torso, fingers gently, slowly digging into the waistline of his jeans. “i have a faint idea who..” words like a whisper, and then lets sangjun ghost his lips against his, jiyong pushing ever so gently so their lips are against. “now, are you gonna do anything? or are you gonna be all talk, no action?”
Tumblr media
truth be told, sangjun had a reputation that preceded him throughout high school & college. one that revolved around with the many ( yes, many ) people he was known to sleep around with only for it to turn into a 'fling' sort of thing. no relationship, nothing else other than them sleeping around for a few times and then drifting apart. he's experienced a lot, had quite a few adventures under his belt. but things hadn't really changed since, he doesn't believe in commitment.. or well, he does but he's far too scared of it to actually persue it. he's had fleeting crushes here & there, sure. but he doesn't let them grow into anything else. that was until he'd happened to stumble on his very own coworker. it's then that he starts to let his mind wander, eyes falling onto the other's frame far more than he would ever like to admit. however, he's not stupid, he knows he's doing it. he knows that he's intrigued & entertained by everything about jiyong. it's scary as hell, but the curious side of him wants to know where it could go, if it actually went anywhere. that's when the unusual feeling started to form in the pit of his stomach, but instead of running... he finds himself sticking put.
there had been too many times that sangjun had watched people who probably didn't even know jiyong's name hit on him & flirt with him over and over and over again. though it usually isn't quite as bad as this, it's usually just a casual look or some tiny smirk. it's never this bold, never waved right in front of sangjun's face like this. however, he can't really talk... he's had people flirt with him when he's on his shift. most of the time it was drunken people who's friends sangjun had to kick out due to whatever reason, leaning up against him with some stupid grin stitched across their features but sangjun usually just ignored it. brushing them off with a 'i'm on the clock' or 'i'm not interested'. he's never really let them believe that they had a chance with him because well? not a lot of people did.. just due to the fact that he didn't like commitment as much as he did. that and he was overly distracted with jiyong to care. he knew that jiyong did the same, didn't show a ton of interest in any of the people that would flirt with him, but it doesn't stop the bouncer's blood from boiling under his skin.. having to resist the urge to grab them by the collar of their shirts only to toss them out of the bar & ban them for a few weeks.
there was a small part of sangjun that had a feeling the other often wandered off to secluded areas just to be followed by the bouncer.. though he doesn't know that for sure, so he doesn't like to assume. it quickly became this game that sangjun loved to play, following behind the other only to find their 'tasks' they'd supposedly set out to do were nothing more than mere excuses to go run into each other within the confines of somewhere private. hands quickly pulling one another closer, lips finding each other's soon after. not only that, but honestly, sangjun liked to be able to mark the other up & send him back out into his shift with the marks that were made by him and him alone. sending the bartender back out so that the world could see that the other was taken... or at least in a sense. he wanted people to see that, he wanted them to just take the hint and leave jiyong alone. he would always have the most smug look on his face whenever the strangers got to see the marks he'd made, their faces contort into confusion as they finally backed off.
but their game wasn't just a game anymore, it hadn't been for months.. or at least not on sangjun's side of things. he has a feeling that the other feels the same way, he wouldn't have continued to allow the bouncer to follow him into seclusion, allowing sangjun to mark him up. the game has started to become so much more, so interested in the other that even if he wanted to, he couldn't get away from the other. sangjun was intoxicated by everything that had to do with jiyong & he never wanted it to end. that's another reason he'd followed the other down into the cellar in the first place. "you are playing with fire, jiyong.. you know that." it comes out as a slight growl, fingertips digging into the other's waist, pushing him even further into the shelf behind him. "i asked you for a reason, don't try to play it off like i don't know." he continues, breath causing his chest to heave up and down at an alarming rate. "we do, don't we?" sangjun retorts with a slight chuckle, nod of his head soon following after before he finds his forehead resting against jiyong's. it's far too soft to be action that comes from sam, but it does anyways... and he doesn't mind it at all.. doesn't mind letting jiyong see that side of him though most don't get to see at all. "we both know and yet we choose to hide within the confines of the cellar and other private places." he continues, brow raising as he watches the other's hand slink down from his cheek, down his chest, slender fingers digging into sam's waistband and the bouncer lets out a small groan, leaning further into the other's body. "now why is that, hm, baby boy? why is it that we constantly seem to meet alone in the dark?" the elder breathes out, lips dropping from jiyong's to brush against the other's jawline, teeth digging into the tender flesh ever-so-slightly. "is that so? then why don't you tell me. refresh my memory." he starts, nipping a small red mark into the other's neck with a slight smirk. "if i choose to mark you and then leave you desperate and wanting more, that's not 'no action', now is it?"

it's not super often that sangjun's seen outside of his own workplace getting drinks, usually sticking to a few glasses here and there or just drinking within the confines of his own room. but whenever he does decide to go somewhere else, ysa bounty was his go-to. the atmosphere was nice, he could people watch & the alcohol was good. three things that kept sam coming back to the place over and over again. even if his visits there were few and far between. he also happened to enjoy the back & forth he happened to have each time he ran into a specific person at the bar.
"hey, don't give me that kind of attitude! i'm not your kid you can just scold like that!" sangjun almost instantly quips back, taking the last swig from his glass before digging in his back pocket for his wallet. "you chose to do that, i could have paid for that too but noo, you just gave it to me for free. that's on you, mister." sam teases with a grin, placing his credit card onto the counter in front of him.
there's a few moments of silence before sangjun taps the plastic card that sits between them, a playful & teasing glint in his eyes as they pass from the credit card and back to juwon. he could most certainly pay for his own things, and he most definetly would if the other would actually let him do so. he doesn't care for people buying things for him, but he also doesn't want to seem rude by constantly turning down the offers that are given to him. "so what's it gonna be then? you gonna kick me out even though my card's sitting right there?" it's a playful challenge, sangjun's brows raised as he waits for a response.
"how about this, i pay for my drinks and my food but i also pay for you to eat something?"

the night had been mostly uneventful, even though his bartender had called out at the very last second, forcing juwon to work behind the bar in their place. he was a little rusty, but he managed. happy hour had just ended, and juwon was running around ysa bounty settling tabs. or at least he had been, until he had made the mistake of stopping in front of a familiar face. in just a matter of seconds, he had been sucked into the same round of back-and-forth that they had every time they met over the bar.
“for the last time, you have to pay for your drinks!” juwon scolded fondly, eyes narrowed in a playful glare at the person in front of him. he leaned forward, supported by both of his hands on the bar that separated them. “i already gave you free food tonight out of the kindness of my heart, same as last time you were here.”
his words might have had an air of finality, but both parties knew he was probably still going to give them the free drinks. he couldn’t help it-he had a serious soft spot for his fellow residents of the sharehouse… the ones he recognized, anyway. juwon knew they all struggled in their own ways, and he enjoyed having such an easy way to make their days a little bit better. he often let them enjoy a free meal or two every once in a while. and the person standing in front of him knew it.
“i’m not letting you eat and drink me out of house and home.”

the second that sangjun is through the door, his shoes are kicked off in the general direction of his bed, a groan of annoyance falling from his lips. he's tired, but when is he not? that's something that he's been used to for years.. and he knows jinhee's grown used to him being the grumpy person he usually was. which meant the second that he entered their room, sam doesn't even head to his own bed, throwing his backpack towards it before heading directly towards the other's. "move over, loser." he grumbles, flopping down face first onto jinhee's bed with a sigh. there's a silence that fills the room before sam finally pulls his head back off the mattress. "how come you never ask me to play games, huh?" he teases, shoving the other's arm gently with the palm of his hand. "maybe i want to, maybe it hurts my feelings when you don't ask." he fake pouts, placing his head onto jinhee's shoulder before he's finally pulling himself up, leaning against his elbows. "have you eaten?"
the question comes out of sangjun's lips before he realizes how concerned his voice sounds, though he plays it off with a slight roll of his eyes. "i'm starving. couldn't get a break at work which meant i couldn't eat." the blonde explains, annoyingly poking the other in the chest until he finally pays attention to sangjun more. "lets go eat, i'll even pay i guess." he groans, pulling himself off the mattress fully only to go grab both of their jackets, throwing jinhee's directly at him before slipping his leather jacket over his shoulders. "you have to order from the kids menu, but i'll still pay." sangjun teases, shooting the other a wink before he's digging in the pockets of his backpack in an attempt to find his motorcycle's keys, jingling them when he finally does. "what do you say? you gonna turn down free food from your favorite, starving roommate or are you gonna come with me?"

WHEN JIYONG HAD first landed his job in club arena, it wasn’t hard for him to pick up the basics and how to make the drinks. and it also wasn’t too long for him to become familiar with everyone, always greeting everybody when they clock in or when he would clock off. yet there was always that one person who would always end up stealing jiyong’s attention most times, let his eyes slowly wander over, linger on the presence, his eyes almost attached, like they were glued. it wasn’t long before he had met the other, finding out his name, sangjun. and from that moment on, jiyong knew his thoughts would ponder on the boy, discrete stolen glances when he would be working. he couldn’t help it, not when someone looked like that.
soon after, him and jiyong soon find themselves intrigued with each other, his eyes that once stolen glances now locking with sangjun’s eyes, filled with lust and desire, and the bartender knows his are the same. what started as that, soon turned into stolen kisses and long nights. not that he complained, there was something enticing about being with sangjun, something that made him feel good. jiyong doesn’t want to take too long in the cellar, knowing he still has to complete the customers order, but part of him wants to linger around, spent some sneaky moments with a certain someone. part of him was thankful sangjun had followed him, because with the way the customer was eyeing up and speaking to jiyong, definitely made him uncomfortable and feeling the need to remove himself from the situation as quickly as possible. maybe he should thank the previous bar staff who were on shift for not changing the bottle. although, he knew that the elder wouldn’t be happy, it wasn’t the first time that jiyong had been hit on during work hours, but it was the first time sangjun had actively brought up the flirting from customers, which left him semi confused. why was he bringing it up? he wishes he could let his mind wander to the thoughts of him being bothered by getting hit on, but he knows the type of person sangjun is, so he’s quick to rid the thoughts, sadly.
with slender fingers trailing along the many shelves and walls of alcohol, it’s almost as if jiyong’s putting on an act to rile up the elder, ready to push his buttons and force him to give in. there’s few lights on, illuminating the room enough for the bartender to see sangjun close the door. he can’t help but let out a small amused giggle, half heartedly as he continues searching for the bottle of alcohol. “why would i go home with him when i have a bed at home that’s calling my name?” jiyong’s words are teasing, almost like he’s telling the bouncer that he has a game to play. either give in, or give up. his focus is disoriented when he feels large hands grab his waist, and suddenly his head feels funny, all traces of the playful jiyong soon to be swept away so easily, just by a simple touch of the man who he can’t help but feel for, knowing the reputation he holds. “it won’t be the first time you’ve hurt someone for flirting with me,” jiyong breathes out, eyes staring at sangjun’s orbs, voice slightly breathless. “then who’s am i?”
Tumblr media
the job at club arena was almost far too convenient for sangjun, his fighting giving him the upper hand when it came to being able to put his foot down & stand up to people. it's also another place he's able to take out his aggression if need be, all while getting paid for it, so that obviously was a plus as well. however, he didn't expect to meet jiyong, didn't expect for his eyes to seemingly wander over the bustling crowds until they fell onto the bartender that happened to be serving them. but they do, and before he knows it, sangjun finds himself staring at the other more often than not, a few of his co-workers calling him out for it only for him to tell them he was simply just 'spacing out'.. which he could play off really well, but he doesn't know if they bought the excuses or not. that didn't really matter though, because no matter what, he still found himself glancing over at jiyong.
but it doesn't take long for the blonde to make a move, waiting until the club had closed before approaching jiyong, making small talk at first.. but it was quick to move to more flirtatious waters. a habit of sangjun's he did have to admit, but something about him flirting with the other was different, he's more reserved, less blunt ( although still blunt enough to get his point across ) & maybe that had to do with the fact they lived in the same building.. or perhaps there was more that sat beyond the surface of those flirtatious moves than sangjun would ever care to admit. it's not the time to get into his head and talk him out of this though, far too late considering the door behind them had already been shut closed. no way for him to run away from the extremely obvious moves he'd made ever since he saw the stranger hitting on jiyong. truth be told, he'd decided to follow jiyong down to the cellar out of his own selfish wants & needs, but he also had been able to tell that the stranger had been making the younger of the two uncomfortable with whatever advances he'd tried. that was half the reason that he'd 'accidentally' bumped into the other, hoping the little bit that remained in his cocktail glass would spill all over his shirt before turning around to give the stranger one of the most fake apologies he could muster... taking everything in him not to snap and kick the guy out of the club simply because he could. that was a problem for a little bit later in the evening, he supposes, mind far too focused on jiyong to even give it a second thought.
there's a part of sangjun that knows that jiyong is acting like this only to get a reaction out of him, yet he lets the other do it anyways. a part of the blond happens to love the little game they seem to constantly play, trying to constantly rile the other up. it kept them coming back to one another time and time again & it definitely kept sangjun far more interested in jiyong than he would ever admit out loud. the giggle is what snaps sam back into reality, eyes darting up towards jiyong's once more. "you tell me..." sangjun starts out, taking yet another step in the other's direction as a slight smirk starts to pull on the edges of his lips. "someone who looks at you the way he does is dying to know." there's a chuckle that falls from the blondes lips, grip tightening on the other's waist ever-so-slightly just to make a point. there a game going yet again and sangjun was ready as every to play. however the other's words cause his brows to knit together for a fraction of a second, trying to remember if he had indeed decided to hurt someone for simply flirting with jiyong or if there were other reasons behind it. though it's quick to melt away, trying to make sure the other can't sense he's truing to rack his brain for that long. "maybe not, but it'd be the worst time." he replies with a slight sigh, stepping towards jiyong once more only to trap him between sangjun & the shelves. "who's do you think, hm?" it comes out as a mere breathe before his lips ghost against jiyong's.

“ we’re in the same boat, then. ” jonas grinned, happy to be reminded of the fact that he wasn’t the only loser in his twenties with little to do besides work. when the other spoke of remembering what went in his mother’s kimchi, jonas couldn’t help the way his grin had broadened. “ i don’t think i could forget what’s in my mother’s cooking even if i tried. in that case, you’ll be a carbonara expert in no time, dude. ”
when the other explained his situation, jonas found himself nodding, along as if he was able to understand. though he had worked overnight shifts, it was only at the pc rooms; he couldn’t imagine rowdy gamers were much worse than club goers— even when his work place allowed copious amounts of alcohol if customers so desired it. “ liking coworkers is huge, i think. imagine hating someone and having to work beside them through the night… sounds absolutely awful. ”
with that, jonas went rummaging for a spare plate to offer the other. he had little problem with sangjun eating out of the container he had placed the food in, but he thought it better for options to be available. sure, he’d have to wash it later, but he didn’t mind. once he found one, he held it out to the elder. “ do you want a plate? ”
Tumblr media
"here's to being losers even though we haven't hit our mid-life crisis yet." sangjun replies with a chuckle, teasing the other as a grin forms on his own features. he was actually okay with having nothing to do other than work for right now, considering the life he did have ahead of him. "honestly if i even forgot one ingredient in any of her dishes, she'd probably hunt me down." there's an actual laugh that falls from his lips with a nod. "i'll hold you to that."
"no offense to my coworkers, but i think they know if i didn't like them, i have the ability to make them know it." there's a slight smirk that pulls on sangjun's lips as he speaks though he's ( mostly ) joking. "i am a bouncer, after all. they've seen me throw people out who tried to fight me for less than that." that part, however, is true. "it's really not that bad... maybe it's  because i'm a night owl and like being up at those hours... who knows honestly." he shrugs, gaze landing on jonas once more. "you think they'd listen if i threatened?"
there's a slight bit of confusion that graces sangjun's features as the other starts rummaging around in the cabinets for something, though the second that there's a plate held in his direction sam's gaze drops towards the floor. "yeah that would probably be better, wouldn't it?" he replies with a slight smile, taking the plate from the other's hand. "i'll clean up my own mess, by the way.. you don't have to worry about it."

the path they were taking opened new discoveries for ara. there were shops with appealing selections that she never actually minded until now. the energy on the streets were captivating. she was reminded about the time she arrived to yongsa, falling in love at first sight with the town and then vowed to never leave again. no wonder she briefly strayed away from her companion. consider her lucky for being able to catch up to his pace or she might have been left behind wandering around like a lost puppy.
“but i hate surprises,” she quietly huffed in retort, crossing her arms in front of her. ara was certain that sangjun never meant any harm. in all honesty, she was just very excited and couldn’t keep it at bay. still, she doesn’t like to be kept in the dark. the last time she left her fate on someone’s hands, she almost got married to a complete stranger. “i do want to know! so let’s get going already,” albeit with a small frame, she grabbed his arm with both hands away from the sidewalk and back to the road. “it better be somewhere really good because my expectations are getting higher every minute, mister.”
Tumblr media
needless to say, sangjun had explored this area far too many times to count at this point, finding the hidden gems that were tucked between overly-expensive and obnoxious storefronts that were purposely made to draw people in. he's been here a lot, loving the energy & atmosphere that surrounds him while he takes a stroll and simply does nothing more than window shop, so her having that same reaction that he did? it wasn't surprising, nor was he going to cause it to fade out into annoyance at having to keep up with him.
"how can you hate surprises? they're like the best thing in the world??" sangjun quips with a chuckle, brow raising as he glances over at her. "most presents are surprises, aren't they?" he asks with a slight shrug of his shoulders. there were some people who didn't particularly care when people sprung surprises on them.. he couldn't really blame them for that. "whoa, whoa, whoa.... patience is a virtue, don't forget that." sangjun teases though he allows her to take a hold of his arm, guiding them back in the direction they were going before she'd been occupied. "and if it isn't as good as your expectations want it to be? what then?" he asks, though he's merely messing with her. "there's food in store, extremely good food. that's all i'll say."

“i was just looking, not staring. you walked in here, not me,” benny scrunched her nose up and feigned a disgusting expression before shaking her head. “cook in the main kitchen? where anyone could just walk up on me and steal what i’m making? hardly.” she straightened up and took another big bite, sighing through her nose, “plus, cooking really isn’t my strong suit anyway, s’not that important to me.” of course it was important but her mother and father had never passed on the necessary skills needed, she could barely even cook noodles without the result being a congealed chunk of paste that she had to drown in sauce to get down. if she could cook, though? then, it would be game over. what a dream.
“do you even have any food down here? are you gonna cook something?” she leaned closer, brows raising and as if on cue, her stomach gurgled loudly. “maybe this peach wasn’t the best choice… but it’s easy to grab and go, okay…” the idea of sticking around for a home cooked meal seemed more and more appealing as she finished another bite of the fruit and sighed, looking up at him with her best pitiful expression. “you know… i only resorted to even grabbing a peach because i was too hungry to think…”
Tumblr media
"you were staring, benny. there's no need to try and pretend you weren't." he counters with a small raise of his brow, rolling his eyes shortly afterwards. "you can always just tell them no, it's not like they'd not listen to you if you did. or you could threaten to... i don't know... curse them if they touched your food?" he continues with a shrug of his shoulders, glancing over to her with a scrunched nose. "you don't know how to cook? it's twenty-nineteen benny, get your shit together." sangjun teases with a smirk, though he's quick to go back into the fridge to rummage for the ingredients he needs to make a meal out of them. luckily for him, he'd gone shopping not too long ago so there was enough in there that was his to make a decent meal.
"of course i have food down here, i live here and i do know how to cook." sangjun quips back, brows knitting together as he sets the ingredients down on the counter with a loud thud. "no, i'm just getting all this food out for no reason, yes, benny, i'm gonna cook." he replies, gently moving her out of the way so that he could grab a pot from one of the cabinets. "if you wanted to beg for food, you probably should have done so without speaking. you look ridiculous." he tells her, turning back to give her a slight grin before he's gesturing towards the ingredients. "if you plan on sticking around and stealing some of my food, you better be prepared to at least help make it."

Tumblr media
THERE WAS ALWAYS the few odd people who tried to grab jiyong’s attention while he was working, some even trying even harder with what they’d hope would be lustful words leaving their lips and sly pieces of paper sliding his way along with the money when they’d pay. someone had even waited until jiyong had finished work to ask for his number. little did he know, that the poor guy was quick to retreat when sam came to the rescue, in which jiyong was extremely thankful for. sure, he was blunt and tended to be in a way, harsh with his words, but in some situations, the brunette was sometimes a bit fragile. yet he’d never make it visibly obvious.
so when jiyong feels the heavy glare almost burning into him, he immediately knows it’s sam. and he knows why he’s staring, glaring, why he’s so wound up. it wasn’t like it hadn’t happened before, but this stare felt different, more protective, more jealous than ever before. jiyong spins around, hand grabs a cocktail glass and he’s quick to begin making his drink. demanding hours weren’t too far away, and he knew it was best to get a hurry on before he had customers storming up the bar and demanding to be served. he’s only a quarter the way through when he realises the bottle hanging up was empty, probably the last person on shift too lazy to change it. jiyong sighs heavily, a soft shake of the head and he moves into the back room, hoping for another bottle somewhere, yet he returns with no luck. mutters a quick few words, gentle apologetic smile and he spins around, taps the only other person working behind the bar and asks them to take over for the moment.
he can only assume that sam is following him, by the way the faint steps trail behind. fingers press the code in, leaves the door ajar and hops down the steps. jiyong walks down to the spirits isle, and when he hears the steps behind him, he prepares himself. “oh, was he? guess i didn’t realise. not like i’m too bothered, anyway. i’m working.” the words slip past his bitten lips, half unamused, half honest, with a hint of sternness. he spins back around, eyes glancing at sam. “why do you care so much anyway?”
Tumblr media
the worst part about what was happening right in front of his own two eyes was the fact that this was not the first time he'd had to watch it. in fact, it's happened far too many times for sangjun to even keep count. most of the time, though, he kept things professional, approached the stranger and told them to leave jiyong alone because he was working & that if they didn't listen, they'd have to leave. that was effective, for the most part, the strangers who tried to flirt with the other quickly leaving the bar, pretending to be busy with god only knew what. but today was different, today there was something about the singer's mannerisms that seemingly set sam's anger off.
the bouncer's unsure as to why he's that angry, glaring into the back of stranger's head as if he could shoot lazers from his irises. of course it doesn't work, even though sam wishes it had. wished the stranger had sensed it and taken the hint to walk away, to leave jiyong alone. but he doesn't and sam's forced to sit there and watch the entire interaction take place with a scowl etched along his features. one quick glance at the watch that adorns his wrist makes sangjun well aware of the time, knows that rush hour is going to happen soon & knows how distracting it'll be for both himself and jiyong.. knows that right now is the only chance he's got for basically the rest of the evening to make a move because if he doesn't right now? the next time there will be any free moments for the both of them will be after closing, and well, sangjun's far too impatient for that. that's one of the reasons he's so quick to follow in jiyong's steps towards the cellar, unwilling to loose the few moments of peace and quite between them, unwilling to just let the random stranger win jiyong over.
sangjun notices the fact that the other's left the door ajar, meaning that his pursuit wasn't unnoticed & a part of his ego wants to start screaming at him for being so obvious.. but now isn't the time, not in the slightest. he quickly closes the door behind him, making sure no one else follows them down there. "hm, honestly, i think he's hoping you'll go home with him tonight." there's a roll of sam's eyes that follows after his words, feet carrying him towards the other only to reach out and grab jiyong's waist the second he's within arm's length. "just don't want to have to hurt someone tonight, that's all." he breathes out with a small smirk. "you're not his to drool over, he needs to learn that."

jonas waved off the other’s comment with his hand; he was merely being a decent housemate, nothing more. a little selfish, too, given the fact that someone else eating his dish just meant he wouldn’t have to throw it out later. if anything, sangjun was doing him more of a favor.
“ sure, anytime you’re free i could give tips, ” he nodded, as if it served as more confirmation of his words. “ it only has five basic ingredients, so there really isn’t much to remember unless you want to add to it… pasta is what i probably cook best. ” he chuckled. he had narrowed it down to a science over the years; it was one thing he could be rather proud of. when the other answered his previous inquiry, jonas found himself nodding— and with more questions. “ would you rather have the day shift? i couldn’t tell you which is actually worse. they both kind of suck. ” then again, that was work, he guessed. “ ah, i hope you enjoy it. fresh food feels a little better to be eating sometimes. plus, there’s always the chicken for a late night snack. ”
Tumblr media
there's a slight chuckle that falls from sangjun's lips at jonas waving off his comment, a shrug of his shoulders soon following after. he wasn't going to argue about it, especially considering he was getting free food out of the deal without having to do anything for it. he's always seemed to have to do something in order for free stuff.
"i'm free any time i'm not at work, honestly. i don't have a life." sangjun chuckles once more, glancing over to jonas with a nod. "i think i could remember five ingredients. i'm somehow able to remember everything my mom used to put in her kimchi, so i'd hope i could remember that." there's a small sigh that falls from the blonde's lips as he speaks.. he hasn't had time enough to make food like he used to & he hates that. "honestly i guess it'd all depend on the people i was working with? i like my coworkers that i work with now. and i don't honestly mind the late shifts either. sometimes waking up at three pm kinda sucks, but i've grown used to it." he explains with a soft smile. "if it's half as good as it smells, it'll probably be the best thing i've eaten in months. also... god you're so right."

𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐀 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐀 𝐋𝐎𝐓 𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 with sam. shortly following the night, she commenced a relationship with someone in her university. from that relationship she learned a lot about herself, and it has allowed her to be more comfortable in her body. since then, she has no shame with pursuing intimate relationships, and she no longer runs as fast as she did with sam. at times, she recalls the moment feeling bad about what she did, but hana shrugs it off thinking that there is no need. it was just a one night stand, she would never have to see the other again.
until learning he lives across the hall. since then, she has been avoiding him, or if the two did talk it was often a bit negative with some bickering back and forth. hearing his words, she turns around, pressing her back against her locked door. hana spends a second studying her, wondering what he had up his sleeves. “what would i be scared of, sam? i’m not scared of much.” she replies cooly, all the while questioning whether or not she should tag along to see what would happen—what his plan was. “where are we going?”
Tumblr media
they've both gone through changes since university, both of them maturing ( hana more so than sam, but he won't admit that. ) & having to deal with whatever the world decided to throw at them. he still has little to no shame when it comes to pursing the 'relationships' he's had since then, he has, however, grown far more closed off than he used to be. not the goofy, jokester he used to be back then anymore. but that's life, right? time changes people, though he's unsure if the changes that were made with him were for the better or not. sangjun supposes that's for other people to decide, though.
finding out that hana literally lived across the hall from him was an unexpected shock, as was the fact that she seemingly was avoiding him. perhaps that had to do with the bickering that happened, he wasn't sure.. but there was a part of his ego that got wounded with each time she did avoid him. "you seemed to be too scared to even stay in bed with me back in university, so lord only knows what else might frighten you." his tone is light, nothing but a teasing joke & the grin on his lips conveyed that.  "a late night ride, maybe stop to get some food at one of the places that's still open. haven't fully figured it out yet."

Tumblr media
sangjun's blood is boiling — jealousy pouring from his veins as he's forced to watch the interaction take place right in front of him. some random singer from a band who thinks he's hot shit, leaning against the bar making bedroom eyes at jiyong, it's almost enough to make sam laugh.. and he would have, had he not felt so angry. it's irrational, and he knows it, yet his jaw's clenched, palms balled into fists at his side — unable to pry his eyes away from the scene no matter how hard he tries.
the blonde is just able to peel his eyes away when he sees jiyong turn around ( most likely to make the stranger his drink, but he's unsure ) — the sudden movement catching his eye once more as he watches the younger dig around for a bottle before turning back to the random singer with a slightly apologetic look before he excuses himself to head towards the cellar. perfect, this was sam's chance to make his presence known to both people, though he's pretty sure that jiyong is extremely aware of it.
it's then that the bouncer makes his move, heading towards the cellar ( not without 'accidentally' knocking into the singer with a little bit of force, of course. ) feet carrying him down the steps not too far behind jiyong. however, he lets the silence surround them for a moment before finally speaking up. "dude seems to have taken a liking to you, was practically asking you to strip just with the look in his eyes." sam sounds slightly bitter, but he doesn't care.

university was a different time for sangjun — a time where his parents weren't watching him, making sure he was living up to their expectations. a time that sam could honestly just be himself & have fun.. he could honestly let loose without any fear that his parents would find out and disown him. that's what lead to the night where him and hana met, a night that he still remembers to this day. one that played like a flashback in his head the first time he happened to run into her in the same hallways that he lived in, figuring out that they now lived in the exact same building as one another.
adventure is calling him, that's why he's sneaking out to do something — what is he gonna do? he doesn't know, but that's half the fun. "it's only like ten, it's not that late." he murmurs, eyes daring up to hers with a sigh. "i don't know if that would help, considering what i thought i'd be driving." there's a frown that pulls on his lips before an idea pops into his head. "you busy? you're more than welcome to come along if you want — unless you're scared."

she sighs when seeing him from across the hall, shaking her head as she looks away and searches for her key within her bag. “going out so late?” she asked, trying to be civil. it was not even that late, hana only thought so with how tired she got from working and studying. “it’s raining, so you’ll need an umbrella.”

confusion quickly contorted his features at the other’s greeting, but jonas didn’t go to any length to question it; just because his day was nearing it’s end, didn’t mean that everyone else’s had to. he instead settled for a quick nod of his head in acknowledgement that he had heard the other, and simply went on with his offer.
“ it’s no big deal. like i said, i made too much, ” and it was the truth; as long as he got some food, and was certain his roommate got some as well, the rest was often offered up to others, or left unmarked in the fridge for the taking. “ it doesn’t take too long to make, really.. just a little tedious is all. ” he shrugged, and finally spared the other a glance once more. “ so if you’re hungry, go for it. no catch. did you just wake up, though? i don’t know how tasty it’ll be as a first meal of the day. ”
Tumblr media
he can see the slight confusion on the other's face, fully expecting the other to look at him strangely or make a comment about what the time was — sangjun had that happen to him more than enough times in his life that he's grown used to it. his work schedule causes his sleeping schedule to be completely messed up in the process. but he loves it nonetheless.
"you're a saint, you know that right?" sangjun retorts with a light chuckle — giving the other a gummy smile as he goes to grab one of the containers he assumes is free for the taking. "mind teaching me how? pasta seems to be the one thing i can't cook no matter how hard i try." there's a slight bight of a pout to the blonde's tone, but he tries to mask it as much as he can. "yeah, work at the club — night shifts. my sleeping schedule is messed up because of it." sam shrugs. "it'll be far better than leftover fried chicken that i put in the fridge the other day, that i can promise you.

usually sangjun's in one of two moods — tired or irritated. but today didn't seem to be like that day for him, he'd finally gotten a day off from work.. not having to be anywhere or do anything today which causes him to be in a strangely good mood. however, even though his mood was decent, that didn't mean he could just ignore the hunger that'd been annoying him for a few hours now any longer than he already had, so without much contemplation, he's headed towards the kitchen in search of some kind of meal. maybe he'd just get a few snacks and then just order takeout later, who really knew? he didn't have a set schedule today and he planned on keeping it that way.
before the blonde can even make it to the kitchen, he hears the dragging of feet, sighs coming from whoever else was in the room and it causes his brows to knit together ever-so-slightly. the second he rounds the corner, though, he can't help but to give her a slight roll of his eyes. "let me guess, that's not yours?" he asked, pointing to the peach with a chuckle, brow raising. "also you're literally the one staring at me, benny." sangjun quips back, gently pushing around her to get to the fridge for himself, opening it before rummaging through it's contents with a laugh. "there's so much in here and you resorted to a peach? what? don't cook for yourself or something??"
                     status :             ☾ — OPEN !                       location :          ☾ — MAIN BUILDING; KITCHEN !
SULKING could most accurate describe the action benny had taken to fill her afternoon, loud scraping footsteps and hollow sighs following her as she dragged her feet into the kitchen. around the island, not once, but twice, before leaning back and opening the fridge, perusing the endless snacks therein. (a communal space made them communal snacks, right?) her fingers dug through the shelves, tongue clicking in an imperceptible rhythm. peach? it looked sweet, it looked like hers now. she snatched it from it’s place and gave the remaining food a once over. this was surely enough, plus one peach wouldn’t be that missed, right?
MAYBE somewhere deep down she might even feel a little bit bad, but even the footsteps rounding the corner into the room didn’t stop her from sinking her teeth into the pale flesh. she simply turned toward the noise. her relatively blank stare met the face attached to the steps and she watched unwavering, peach resting in her hand, which has lowered considerably. not even a second had passed before the silence felt overwhelming. “uh… hey,” she mumbled, muffled behind another bite. pause. “it’s rude to stare, you know.”

sneaker clad feet drag across the pavement — complete exhaustion finally catching up the to the blonde-haired male in one fell swoop. he'd been working for the past ten days straight, always going to the gym ( or fights ) afterwards to the point he knew he hadn't been sleeping as much as he should have been... or at all, honestly. sangjun's sure he looks like crap, dark circles under his eyes, body slumped over ever-so as he tries to will himself to walk down the same path he usually did from work to his own building. it's difficult, to say the least — he feels his own eyes betraying him as the want so badly to flutter shut. but he doesn't allow it, only a few more feet until he reaches the main building, he's almost there.
he would have actually noticed the fact that there were quite a few different residents wandering through the lobby of the main building if it wasn't for the fact his eyes were trained on one of the empty chairs & nothing but that. he's been in the building so many times he knows exactly where the chairs are and out of habit, sangjun's eyes just happen to scan over the taken ones without even realizing or understanding that there was indeed another person occupying them. once the blonde-haired male reaches the chair he's  been so desperately seeking from the second he stepped foot into the main building, he tosses his backpack to the floor, plopping down with an overly dramatic sigh. he's half tempted tp throw his feet over the armrest and take a nap right there, but he doesn't. — trying to respect the others in the building.. even if he was about to sleep right there, he wasn't gonna just make himself that much at home.
sam's head is rested upon the back of the seat — almost asleep when he hears a voice that causes him to stir, eyes darting in her direction as he looks around to just who she was talking to. he's sure it isn't him, as he sees her waving the person over, but then again — she could have been. "i don't know if you were talking to me or not, but uh.." he starts, pulling himself out of his chair only to make his way over to the one sitting closer to hers, backpack dragging across the floor behind him as he does so. "i can try and help as best as i can, though i don't know how much help i'll be." he tells her with a small shrug of his shoulders, hands running through blonde locks to remove it from his vision. "what's up?"
Tumblr media
status › open. location › main building.
the moment daphné returns from her short trip to seoul, rather than heading towards her own building to unload her things and settle in for the evening, she collapses onto one of the nearest lounge chairs she sees in the main building. she lets her tote fall to the ground as she tucks her slipper-covered feet beneath her. normally, she’d label this as GAUCHE behavior from just about anyone else, but she preferred to excuse herself from that narrative entirely. because she simply wasn’t gauche, of course— no matter what she did. and that was an absolutely indisputable fact!
she rustles through her camera bag as soon as she’s settled, wanting to go through the pictures she had taken that day. gugudan had held a small fan event in seoul that afternoon, which of course, caused daphné to purchase the earliest train ticket available. it was honestly RARE for the girl to miss any opportunity to go take pictures of her favorite group, especially seeing as it was her ‘ pseudo ’ job to do so ( an unpaid one, at that ). she scrunches her nose up slightly at some of the poorly framed shots, simply blaming those specific ones on her excitement of finally getting to see the group ( and mimi, specifically, of course ) again. she makes a small noise of disapproval at those shots in particular, before deleting them and moving on. she’d have to upload them onto her computer and get them posted to her twitter as soon as possible, but she had every intention of relaxing beforehand— train rides were not her thing and she needed a solid hour or two dedicated to recovering from the trip, alone.
she stretches her legs out and onto the footrest in front of her, folding her hands over her stomach and letting her eyes slip shut for a moment. recovery time WOULD be a helluva lot more convenient in her room, but this would do for now. daphné forgot to account for the other residents wandering through the lobby, of course, and a small ripple of annoyance passes through her briefly at the sound of someone nearby momentarily disturbing her peace. rather than snapping at the individual like she was TEMPTED to do ( despite them not actually being guilty of anything ), she’s quick to wave them over. “let me get your opinion on something, s'il vous plaît,” she requests, sitting up in her chair and taking her camera back out and resting it in her lap.

truth be told, he'd noticed the fact that she'd drifted from his pace a while ago — choosing to let her eyes wander over whatever seemed to catch them with each passing step. he'd been like for a while too, acting like a giddy child when he first explored yongsa so he can't blame her in the slightest. however, the second sangjun realized the distance between them he stops, leaning against one of the brick walls as slender fingers dig his packet of cigarettes out from the pocket of his leather jacket — turning ever-so-slightly in order to see if he could spot her in the crowd, but before he actually goes to look for her, she's caught up to where he'd decided to take his impromptu break.
"wouldn't be much of a surprise if i told you, would it?" sam asks with a chuckle, smirk starting to slowly pull on the edges of his lips. "still want to know?"
EXT. SOMEWHERE AROUND YONGSA - DAY — open for anyone
Tumblr media
it was hard to be pocket-sized. however, the great distance that the pair have accumulated from each other was partly her fault as she was a one curious being. every thing that strikes her fancy, she takes a moment to gander at it. yongsa was like a wonderland to her and she was alice. she almost skipped towards the other just to catch up. once she managed to match her counterpart’s pace, her interest grew on the mysterious destination she was promised. perhaps it was uttered earlier, but the mention of a new adventure had her feet already running. still, she needed to sate the meddling thought in her mind.
“where are we going again?”
