Being A Magical Practitioner: 1. Question everything you are told and read. 2. Hell even question this post. Only YOU can decide what is right and what works for you. 3. What may work for someone else may not work for you. What may work for you may not work for someone else. 4. Your practices are YOUR practices.
Support: 1. Ancestral veneration is so important. 2. Communicate with your ancestors daily. 3. They will help and guide you on your journey more than you will ever know. 4. You have several guardian angels and guardian spirits built into your existence, get to know them. 5. There is magic within you. Embrace your own power. 6. Mind your own magic. You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing. You don’t have to explain your practices to anyone else. Do you.
Tools: 1. White candles are fantastic for every single purpose. 2. You can print your own labels for glass candles and glue them on plain glass candles.  You will save money this way in the long run. 3. You don’t need every single tool to start off with. 4. Water is life. Water keeps the flow of your magic, filters and is a conduit to you and spirit. Keep clear glasses of water in your home. Change them often. 5. Your altar space doesn’t need to be fancy. 6. You do not need expensive herbs. 7. Mirrors and Magnets are the best tools closest to crystals to magnify and amplify your magic. 8. The bible is a book full of spells and divination.
Herbs: 1. You can get most of the herbs you need from your local super market and dollar store. 2. Salt: Protection or cursing. Various Powdered Peppers: Protection and Cursing. Cinnamon: Money and Lust work. Basil: Money and Luck. Bay Leaves: Protection and Granted Wishes. Rosemary: Protection. Chamomile: Peaceful Home Workings. Cloves: Protection, Love, Control and Bindings. Eucalyptus: Cleansing. Thyme: Purification, Healing.
Floor Washes: 1. Do Floor Washes in odd numbers. One series to remove the negativity and one series to bring in good energy. 2. Curse Killer Floor Wash: Hot Water, Ammonia, Lemon, Salt (optional) Open Roads Floor Wash: Cold Water, Florida Water, Parsley, Mint Leaves, Coconut Water (Strained of pulp)
Various Cleansings: 1. Cigar or tobacco smoke is a great alternative to sage sticks. 2.  You can cleanse yourself with an egg and a glass of water. 3. You can cleanse yourself with lemons, limes and oranges. 4. When cleansing your home make sure to open your windows and doors. 5. Start from the back of the home towards the front and then to various rooms to confuse the negative energy. 6. A can of beer and salt will cleanse your aura. 7. When you cleanse yourself, make sure to replace what you removed with good energy.
Powders: 1. You do not need to purchase branded powders from metaphysical shops. Money/luck powder:  Bank dirt, Shredded currency and corn starch. Love/Passion powder: Rose petals, Cinnamon and corn starch. Open Roads powder: Dirt from four corners of a crossroads and corn starch. Add three dimes to bottom of container. Cursing Powder: Graveyard dirt from criminals grave, black pepper, red pepper, cayenne pepper. Protection Powder: Church Dirt, Psalm 91 passage from bible, Psalm 23 from the bible grinded into a powder. Oils: 1. Do not buy oils from the botanicas and metaphysical shops. Most are made with mineral oil, a synthetic fragrance and colorant. If you want that, Get yourself some baby oil, food coloring and scented fragrance oil of your choosing. I wouldn’t recommend it though. 2. Get yourself some Olive oil, Sunflower oil, Grapeseed oil and Vegetable oil at the supermarket along with some Vitamin E oil for preservative. You can make your own charged oils with herbs and a few glass bottles. 3. My favorite simple oils: Lust Oil: Sunflower oil base, Vitamin E,  Cinnamon stick, red rose petals, and Vanilla Bean Money Oil: Grapeseed oil base, Vitamin E, Cinnamon stick, nutmeg, basil and thyme. Protection Oil: Olive Oil base, Vitamin E, Rosemary, Basil, Eucalyptus Life Force Oil: For when you need extra power in your magic. Olive oil base, 3 drops of blood. Blessing Oil: Olive Oil, Vitamin E and Psalm 91 torn from the bible.
Deities: 1. You do not have to have a deity in your practice. 2. You can practice secular magic. Secular magic is a practice that does not refer to, venerate and otherwise “work with” any deities (or, in some cases, any supernatural beings at all). This is perfectly okay. 3. If working with deity, never promise what you can’t provide. 4. Feed your spirits and deities. This can be with food, alcohol, energy, light, darkness, anything. 5. Know the spirits and deities you are working with. 6. Listen to your intuitive pulls when it concerns your deity. 7. No one can tell you the right or wrong way to worship and work with your deity BUT you should learn their mythos and their base wants, needs and what offends them. Misc Magic Info: 1. Your magic will not punish you because you can’t practice every single day. We are human, and sometimes life gets the best of us. It is okay. 2. Magic should never ever replace mental and physical health diagnosis and services from healthcare professionals. 3. “Black magic” is a racist term used to demonize the practices of people of color that are seen as “barbaric” or “uncivilized” to Europeans. Therefore “White magic” is considered good and “black magic” is considered bad. Energy is energy. Do not allow anyone to dictate your practice. That racist term is bullshit. Our melanin is magic. Our cultures and our roots are power. 4. You can purchase a Tarot deck from Amazon. You don’t need it gifted to you. 5. ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher in your home. 6. NEVER leave candles unattended in your home. 7. Coffee grounds speed up work. 8. Meditate. Leave the fuckery of the day at the end of the day. You will thank yourself in the long run. 9. Keep info to yourself. Not everyone needs to know what you are doing or all your secrets. 10. Do not bring your shoes into your home.

Christian Witch - Psalm 1 Blessing Spell
Psalm 1 Blessing Spell
Needed:
White Candle (for blessing)
Rosemary Herb (for blessing)
Water (Holy Water/Charged Water/Whatever kind you want to use)
Bowl for the water
Your voice
Meditation
Instructions:
Mix rosemary herb with the water you wish to use in a bowl.  Any amount is fine, whatever you feel is needed.  Visualize the water soaking up the positivity of the rosemary herb.
Dip your fingers in the water and anoint yourself with it.  You could also sprinkle the candle with the water, or dress it with the water if you wish.  Visualize the candle absorbing the positive energy of the rosemary herb.  You can also sprinkle the herb itself on top of the candle (something I love to do).
When you feel the candle is ready and charged, light it and chant Psalm 1:
Happy are those    who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread,    or sit in the seat of scoffers;
but their delight is in the law of the Lord,    and on his law they meditate day and night.
They are like trees    planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season,    and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper.
The wicked are not so,    but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,    nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
for the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,    but the way of the wicked will perish.
When you are finished, begin meditating.  Allow yourself to sit in peace and quiet your mind.  Do this for as long as you feel it is right.  Or until the candle burns out.
When you are getting ready to finish, visualize a white light from above shining over you.  Visualize this light as the Holy Spirit if you wish.  Allow yourself to absorb the light.
End in a prayer if you wish.

"Holiness Hoodoo: Rediscovering Ancestral Roots Without Jesus"
The term "Holiness Hoodoo" may leave some people puzzled, so allow me to clarify its meaning. In my view, Holiness Hoodoo represents a return to the traditional practices of my ancestral lineage, a way to decipher who I am and what my purpose entails. Many of our forebears were devout Christians, and this undeniable fact forms the backdrop of my spiritual journey. Despite the complex relationship that many Black Americans have with the Bible due to the scars of slavery, it's essential to remember that it wasn't the Bible itself that caused harm, but the people wielding it as a tool of oppression.
As I delved deeper into the realms of ancestral magic, I began to notice striking parallels with church practices. To some, I seemed too "churchy" for hoodoo, and to others, too "hoodoo" for the church—there appeared to be no middle ground. However, I've come to understand that my connection to my ancestors is the cornerstone of my spiritual practice. I've realized that perhaps the reason some individuals struggle to communicate with their spirits is that they try to venerate them through African traditions, tarot, or other methods their ancestors might not recognize.
Tumblr media
The Bible, as a potent tool in hoodoo, is not revered because we live by its teachings but because it contains powerful scriptures. My mother, for instance, believed in Jesus, yet she was a practitioner of hoodoo—a tongue-speaking, spirit-conjuring woman. Her approach, which I now embrace, is what I refer to as "Holiness Hoodoo."
Tumblr media
So, what does Holiness Hoodoo look like for me?
1. Setting the Atmosphere:
I play inspirational or gospel music that resonates with my specific needs, allowing it to fill my home as I clean, pray, or perform spiritual work. Gospel music serves as a direct conduit to my ancestral spirits, and sometimes, when I hear a song I haven't listened to in a while, an ancestor's presence is assured.
2. Keeping a Bible on the Altar:
While I don't read the Bible frequently, I keep it open to the Psalms as an offering to my spirits. The Bible also serves as a powerful tool of protection, and specific verses and pages can function as talismans and petitions.
3. Baptisms:
Baptism, in my lineage, is a ritual practice to wash ourselves of sins and start anew. It's not just for babies; it can also cleanse generational curses and traumas passed down from parents.
4. Shouting:
Listening to gospel music, I engage in the practice of shouting, a form of ecstatic dance that connects me with my spirits. This practice fills me with light and often results in downloads of ancestral wisdom.
5. Laying of Hands:
I perform the laying of hands, a practice I'll discuss in more detail in the future. It's distinct from Reiki and is a significant part of my spiritual tradition.
6. Fasting:
Fasting is a part of my spiritual practice, serving as a means of both elevating my spiritual consciousness and cleansing my body. I firmly believe that one's health plays a pivotal role in their spiritual journey.
Holiness Hoodoo is about preserving the traditions of our ancestors and finding connections with them. It doesn't rely on dogma or strict religious doctrine; instead, it is a pathway to tap into the wisdom and spirituality that has been passed down through generations. In this practice, there is no room for being "too churchy" or "too hoodoo"—it's about embracing the rich tapestry of our heritage and harnessing it for a profound and authentic spiritual experience.

“For the folk witch, however, encounters with the otherworld are a crucial source of knowledge, growth, and spiritual nourishment. There is something in the heart of the witch that craves ecstatic escape into the wild and dark. Whether through the use of alcohol, herbs, ritual, or charms, witches are possessed of a seeking nature that sends us tunneling into the hidden realms, and perhaps it is due to this innate yearning that we are able to see spirits of the otherworld as kindred beings.”

What is Witchcraft? Spell Design Conceptualization Vs. Visualization
Introduction
When a witch (Or other practitioner of magical and mystical forces) casts a spell, what are the chances that the spell will succeed? It’s a trick question, really. Spells can be, and often are, highly dependent on circumstance. Each minute nuance of the given environment, emotional states, physical interactions, outside events, and outside information all play a role in the probability of a spells success. Think of a spell, for sake of understanding, as a force that has a miniscule effect on the likelihood of an event occurring. This can be getting a job, being noticed, not being noticed, drawing money, manipulating street lights, etc. The possibilities are limitless, so long as the laws of physics are considered. This school of thought can also be called the principle of least effort.
Circumstance
The circumstance that a practitioner finds themselves in at the moment of a working will have a great effect on the success of that working. Does the working consider the emotional states of people involved? The normal movements of people, goods, and objects throughout the day? The more variables that are considered, the more likely the spell will cause a desired effect. Further, the way that the spell is designed to navigate these circumstances will have an even greater effect. An example would be: It'd be better to cast a spell for a resume to stand out among the others than to try and cast a spell onto the hiring manager. This is because the manager has so many nuances to their individuality. They interact with so many people, objects, and events throughout their day and going through resumes is just one of them. While enchanting a resume itself will only call their attention in the moments they set aside to go through them. There are significantly less variables to consider. It would be wise to have the enchantment also have an effect that happens upon viewing it that can help disconnect the manager from the stresses and other preoccupying nuances of their daily life, even if just for a moment.
Abduction, Induction, & Deduction
Deductive reasoning works from the more general to the more specific. Sometimes this is informally called a “top-down” approach. This involves beginning with thinking up a broad idea about our topic of interest. It is then narrowed down into more specific nuances that we can test, observe, or sympathize with. Then, it is narrowed down even further when we collect observations to address the original idea. When using deductive reasoning in witchcraft, it can be as simple as learning more about the environment the spell is going to affect, or as complicated as learning about statistical maths or physics.
Inductive reasoning works the other way, moving from specific observations to broader generalizations and theories. Informally, this is sometimes called a “bottom up” approach. With inductive reasoning, The first step starts with specific observations and measures, and detecting patterns and regularities, formulating some tentative idea that we can explore, and finally ending up developing some general approach. This skill can be handy when designing a spell before actually having a use for it. This approach will also help outline the optimal or beneficial circumstances for the spell's success.
Abductive reasoning works by drawing from known information and making educated guesses to fill in the blanks. This can be extremely useful for spell design, provided you have a lot of information to start with. When enough is learned about a situation, it becomes a lot easier to extrapolate from that incomplete data for a broader perspective. This makes navigating the situation much easier than going in blind. However, unlike the other two a broader bank of knowledge is nearly required.
Statistical Analysis & Probability Calculation
While statistics aren’t at all necessary to cast effective spells, it can certainly be very helpful. Using statistics for applications has to do with studies in psychology and sociology; as well as odds of events, like estimating the amount of resumes that a manager has to go through and calculating the probability of the placement of your resume in the fold. There are two types of statistics: descriptive statistics, which describes the properties of sample and population data, and inferential statistics, which uses those properties to test hypotheses and draw conclusions. Descriptive statistics are the most useful in the application of magic. Inferential can be useful, like in the example that I gave with the resumes. While they may not be necessary, understanding how to calculate probabilities can be a great tool to figure the path of least resistance.
Variations in Energetic Requirements
Both physically, and in an energy work sense trying to force a spell through a more complex path than necessary can be very draining. If the spell is too complex, which sometimes is the best option, could require more physical effort to follow up. Which can be helpful anyways, especially when it comes to subjects like mental illness; which, should always be second or third in terms of treatment. In an energy work sense, if the spell is too complex relative to the working done and/or the energy given, the spell won't be as effective, but could also just not work at all. There is a ratio that exists for energy put in and the complexity of the situation. This ratio can be difficult to figure out when first starting, but with the help of detailed spell logs it is possible.

Tasseography: A Very Basic Guide
So much has been said about the reading of tea leaves, or coffee grounds, that is almost seems futile to write even more about it. But because this blog is meant to be used as a complete grimoire and guide, I feel I should mention one of the most well-known methods of divination.
Tasseography’s history is not well-understood. Many Wiccan authors ascribe the practise to the Romani people, but its origin is not well-known. Many European and Middle Eastern people used divinatory methods based on the shapes of spilt or scattered substances, and once tea was introduced to Europe from China, it seemed only natural tea leaves would join the long list of things-that-can-sometimes-look-like-shapes. In the Middle East and Eastern Europe, coffee is more often used in tasseography.
A spoonful of tea leaves, loose, is placed in a white teacup. The querent must then stir the leaves with their finger, focussing on the questions they wish to ask. Boiling water may then be poured into the cup to allow the tea to steep. The querent then allows the leaves to settle and drinks the tea until only the dregs and a spoonful or so of liquid is left at the bottom. Then, the cup is taken up in the left hand and swirled three times clockwise before being quickly turned over onto a white napkin resting atop a saucer. The querent counts to seven and turns the cup aright, whereafter the leaves may be read.
The position of the symbolic shapes left behind in the cup matters. Anyone who reads tea leaves has their own system for interpretation. When I do this, I read the cup outward from the handle on both sides, with the handle pointing toward the querent. Symbols on the right side of the cup may be interpreted as positive, while those on the left may have negative qualities. Stronger messages emanate from symbols closer to the brim of the cup than the base.
Following are a short list of symbols and their meanings, both positive and negative.
Acorn: strength and resilience, or stubbornness
Arrow: surprise news, or a rumour
Bird: good luck, or a friend lost
Boat: a visit, or a debt owed
Butterfly: pleasure, or a short-lived joy
Cat: strengthened friendship and loyalty, or treachery
Circle: a gift given, or a payment demanded
Cloud: financial success, or a period of trouble
Clover: happiness and prosperity, or assumptions made
Coffin: freedom from a persistent trouble, or death
Cross: prosperity, or annoyance
Crown: honour and success, or great responsibility
Curved line: a journey ahead, or an unexpected setback
Dagger: friends who will come to your aid, or impending danger
Deer: freedom, or a quarrel
Dog: faithful friends, or secret enemies
Fish: a visitor from abroad, or a surprise journey
Flag: loyalty, or people may unite against you
Flower: happiness in relationships, or the death of an acquaintance
Hammer: triumph over adversity, or hard work ahead
Hat: success in the workplace, or a warning that you are ignoring an important truth
Heart: pleasure and happiness, or trouble in relationships
Horseshoe: good luck, or an unexpected visitor who will waste your time
Human figure: visit from a parent, or a fight
Key: success in business, or the return of an ex-lover
Letters: denote the initial of someone close to the querent
Moon: good fortune, or obliviousness
Mountain: powerful friends, or powerful enemies
Mushroom: an epiphany, or a toxic influence
Numbers: should be significant to the querent
Oak leaf: long life in good health, or long life in poor health
Rabbit: multiplication of blessings, or multiplications of curses
Ring: marriage, or divorce
Snake: a speedy recovery, or a treacherous friend
Square: comfort, or hardship
Spider: gaining money, or losing money
Triangle: good luck, or a bad reputation
Wheel: an inheritance, or a sudden upset
Windmill: a business success, or a false omen
The symbols retain their positive meaning when found on the right side of the cup, but have a negative interpretation on the left.

Ritual to annihilate the enemy
Tumblr media
Tools and ingredients:
1 black candle
1 piece of your enemy (meaning hair, nails, pictures…)
A soft piece of bread
1 coffin nail
Animal bones fragmens (sheep, pig or goat)
1 rectangular small cardoboard box
1 black cloth
Some water and salt
Execution:
Take the black candle during a Tuesday or Saturday of Waning moon and go to a church where's celebrating a funeral or a mass for the dead and, during the Elevation of the "body and blood of Christ", baptize it with the name of your enemy.
The ritual must be performed on a Tuesday or Saturday in the waning moon phase, preferably after sunset.
Light the black candle and place it to the south, place yourself in front of it and arrange all the ingredients on the black cloth, except for the small box.
Now with the soft bread make a puppet and incorporate your enemy's piece inside of it; then baptize it with water and salt, saying the enemy's name out loud. Concentrate on the operation you are about to perform and, with your palms facing down, recite the following formula:
"O dark powers that dwell in the depths, come to me, I summon you, and I command you to restore the balance that [name of the enemy] has broken, by sending me the evil I intend to fight with your power! As the lightning after the thunder strikes the earth, so I hit [enemy's name] with this nail and to make them harmless. "
Now take the nail and pierce the fetish at the height of the heart. Then take the candle, being careful not to blow it out (or the whole operation will be repeated all over again another day), pour a few drops of wax on the head and heart of the fetish, reciting to each drop that falls:
"With this drop of wax I send you evil and destroy you!"
When finished, place the fetish on top of the black cloth, sprinkle the bone fragments over it and let the candle burn out completely; then wrap everything in the black cloth and place it in the box.
On a black moon day, bury the box in a cemetery, preferably near a recently excavated grave.

Shout out to the people for whom Witchcraft and the Gods totally fucking suck sometimes
A few years ago, I was being mocked in a Discord server by someone who believed that if I was having a difficult relationship with my primary god, then that was my fault and I needed to "be better."
He's a god of Witchcraft, I tried to say. He's the Folkloric Devil. He can be an asshole. Sometimes, working with him is very difficult.
The person implied it was a phase and that they hoped I "figured it out" because the gods would ~*nEvEr*~ ever behave as complete cunts.
Sigh.
I see great posts around. "Witchcraft isn't supposed to be stressful! Witchcraft shouldn't give you anxiety! If you don't like your witchcraft, stop doing it! Change it!"
It's a great message, in general. But what if you can't? What if you shouldn't?
I see these support posts side-by-side with posts like, "where is all the advanced witchcraft? People should post more of their path!"
I hate to say it out loud and in such a boorish way, but a lot of the time, "advanced witchcraft" is tedious. It's a chore. It's making pacts that you can't back out of, that become burdensome responsibilities.
(Not trying to get into a discussion about what constitutes "advanced witchcraft" so I'm going to stop using that term)
There are a lot of people out there who are now bound to paths that they don't really like, didn't intend to become a part of, are having difficulty changing, or who are going through a phase where everything fucking sucks, but they are still dedicated to seeing it through to the end.
So, anyway. If you feel the gods have betrayed you, if you feel trapped in your practice, if you feel exhausted by the responsibilities you have taken upon yourself, if you feel like things are being taken away from you, if your Craft feels like a chore: you are not alone.
And from time to time I get really burned out on posts that seek to make witchcraft and the gods so accessible for beginners that anything that gets a tiny bit serious, or tedious, or burdensome, or scary, is erased. And called fearmongering. Or called gatekeeping.
I think it would just be nice for time to time that people who are not beginners, and who are struggling, also get community support. And not erased or shut down just because their lived experiences might be scary to a hypothetical beginner.

🏳️‍🌈 Ruth Ellis (1899 - 2000) was the daughter of former slaves. She came out as a lesbian when she was 16-years-old to the complete acceptance of her family. In 1937, Ruth and her longtime partner moved to Detroit from their hometown of Springfield, Illinois for the promise of higher wages. There, she became the first woman in Michigan to run her own printing business. She printed fliers, posters, and stationary in the front room of her home, which also quickly became a hotspot for Black LGBTQ social life. Before long, Ruth was helping those who came around in any way she could, including by paying for college tuitions. After the Stonewall uprising, 70-year-old Ruth began giving speeches in support of gay and lesbian rights all across the country. She remained an activist for the rest of her long life and even spent her 100th birthday leading the San Francisco Dyke March. At the time of her death at 101, she was recognized as the oldest out lesbian in the US. She is the subject of the documentary "Living With Pride: Ruth C. Ellis @ 100" and is the namesake of the Ruth Ellis Center, a shelter for homeless and at-risk LGBTQ youth in Detroit.
Celebrate Ruth Ellis.

(Spawned by this post and done separately bc I didn't want to derail.)
Folk magic traditions and folk medicine, historically speaking, tend to rely heavily on regionally-available resources. Whatever was growing in their particular biome was what got used. So we see many many plants with overlapping usages or correspondence. And it may SEEM repetitive in an age where we can source pretty much whatever we want or need from the internet or from local stores that import herbs and spices.
White sage and palo santo are excellent examples, but we can also look at things that are closer to home. Consider, for instance, the humble peppercorn.
Native to the India, black pepper is one of the oldest known spices in the world, with usage records going back over 5000 years, and is a staple ingredient in most household spice cabinets. Even the blandest, most white-bread kitchens will at least have salt and pepper on hand, and pepper has a plethora of magical uses from protection to cleansing to fertility to warding off bad luck and malefic magic.
AND YET. Black pepper used to be the most expensive spice in the western world. Literally worth its' weight in gold in the ancient, classical, and medieval periods. It was used by physicians to treat a variety of digestive complaints and was believed to reverse the effects of certain poisons. It was so valuable, people used to pay their rent with it, much in the way that Roman soldiers once received salt as part of their wages. It wasn't until the Renaissance that black pepper started to be affordable for an average household as trade expanded and other substances like coffee, cocoa, and saffron gained in popularity.
So we might easily reach for a courtesy pepper packet for a quick banishing or protection ritual today, but that's not something the average medieval English peasant looking to ward off bad luck or keep evil spirits out of their house would have access to. But what they DID have was rowan trees. And we see many references in the folk magic of the British Isles to rowan boughs or rowan berries being using for protection, fertility, cleansing, and the warding-off of misfortune and magical harm.
So instead of going right for the white sage or palo santo, why not try smoke-cleansing with rosemary and bay leaf? They have the same magical properties and are much more affordable and readily available, plus that added bonus of, yanno, avoiding culturally appropriative or overharvested plants.
Anyway, point is, widespread availability is all well and good, but you'd be surprised just how much you can find in your own backyard and how useful it can be in your craft.

And it allows one to "surrender to Fate, this becoming Master of it".
“Magick does not offer an escape from ordinary reality: rather it offers a full-on confrontation with it, which one can easily lose.”

Question for all the traditional witches!
Traditional witches!
Can someone explain your craft to me? On Tumblr, I’m seeing a lot of traditional witches that also blog a lot about the Devil/Satanism/Luciferianism. I’m not judging, I’m just genuinely curious- I’ve never had traditional witchcraft explained to me and would like to know about that aspect of the craft so I can A) be more well rounded and B) not be ignorant and assume stupid things. What ideas are central to this belief? How do you differ from other paths of witchcraft? Those sorts of things. Again, I don’t mean any disrespect. Just genuinely curiosity. I’d like to broaden my understanding of all kinds of witchcraft.

The rich and powerful are literally giving up on the future–theirs and yours and mine and the planet’s and everyone on it–and prepping for doomsday, building high-tech bunkers and uh, no way I’ll sugarcoat this for them, planning how to implement slavery for their safety and comfort, while they let the rest of us die in a fire they’re still fanning.
They could be funding solutions to the ecological disasters they’re so afraid of, like carbon sequestering, water conservation, reforestation, renewable energy, or finding alternatives to rare earth minerals. They could be funding solutions to the socioeconomic disasters they’re so afraid of, like paying decent wages, abolishing sweatshops, improving infrastructure and public services, or UBI. But their heads are so far up their asses that instead of doing something productive with their gratuitous wads of cash, these doucheparades are pouring money into holes in the ground where they think they can hide from problems they helped create and sustain.
These men and others just like them are shaping tech and policy and industry right now and they believe that the earth is doomed and you’re as good as dead. Not only are they not going to help you, they are going to do their level best to hamstring or straightup destroy your future to prolong their own. That’s what they do, and they expect you to go along with it. Hell some of them expect you to cheer for them, they market themselves like rockstars and try to convince you their particular hole in the ground is uniquely subversive and punk rock and radical because reasons. It’s not and you’re still a corpse as far as they’re concerned.
So anyway don’t try to tell me solarpunk isn’t “really” punk.
Rejecting the conceited defeatist idiocy of the establishment is punk as hell. Surviving and thriving against the expressly stated plans of the wealthy and powerful is punk as hell. Working together in defiance of the selfish and shortsighted is punk as hell. Protecting everyone’s clean air and water, food sovereignty, and freedom, when wealthy men want to take all of those things away to ensure your obedience and loyalty, IS PUNK AS HELL. Fighting the apocalypse is punk as hell. Resisting despair is punk as hell.
Solarpunk is punk as hell and anyone who thinks otherwise is welcome to wear a “disciplinary collar” and serve on some techbro’s security force for rations.
