"Be normal" says Tumblr User who is definitely not "normal"

So I just watched Wish and I gotta say I feel like it could have been good with a few alterations. I guess the main problem for me was that is was kinda all over the place in what it wanted to tell and it felt very inconsistent with many things.

However, I think the idea of "people should be supported in making their own wishes come true rather than having them just granted" is something I vibe with. After all, it's not only about the goal but also about the journey (which would have been a great thing to address, but yeah).

I feel like this could have come out better if it were shown more clearly and more consistently that Magnifico uses the wishes for control and, like he later does, as a means of gratification and punishment. It's not believable that he turns to dark magic just because he's being questioned once, since he's shown to be pretty nice and - despite not perfect - seemingly actually with good intentions.

The way it was made the movie felt like the conflict we witnessed is entirely unnecessary, and this escalation of events seems entirely fabricated for the sake of itself.

Also, the songs were like 🤏 this close to being catchy, but they were just off, and I was more wondering what was going on with the lyrics than anything tbh.

So I think I'm actually almost mourning this movie, as it could have been great, and while it looks and acts professional, its structure feels like a "director's child made a movie."
