it makes me so happy to think about ellie and dina before their relationship, and how their romanticized friendship played out beforehand. two best friends completely pining after each other. all of those years of just this persistent, puppy dog, butterflies-in-the-stomach, the-room-stops-whenever-i-see-you, admiring-you-from-afar, best-friends-hopelessly-and-cluelessly-in-love, completely-obsessed-with-you-without-saying-it kind of love. it literally makes me so happy thinking of 17y/o ellie walking into a room and smiling when she makes eye contact with dina. or how they would go off with their s/o’s, but when they came back together, it was their time. or how dina would give cat cold glares and brush her off, and how she did the same with ellie for a while because she was so god damn jealous that cat had ellie to herself and not her. these two were hopelessly in love for so many years and they never got the timing right, but when we saw them on our screens, we watched them get that timing right for the first time in so many years, and i think that’s just special.

has anyone fucking thought of poor Dina finding the chalet outside of Jackson??
She’s either with or not with Jesse, and as they clear through the house they find the blood trail to the basement…..
One look at Joel and she knows he’s gone, but Ellie’s face is pretty fucked up, and she was lying on her stomach. Would Dina be able to see her breathing at first?? like FUCK Dina would have thought she was dead too
because why wouldn’t they kill her???
and then Ellie wakes up and god, Dina is basically shaking as she tells Ellie she’s sorry and calls out to Jesse to say they’re down here.
Imagine how Dina would have felt.

this is probably one of my favorite underrated moments;
the way that dina just talks with her eyes – the way she lights the joint as they suggestively flicker down toward the couch to signal ellie to sit down. and the way ellie gives in immediately. she sits down and plays into this flirtatious game dina’s playing with 0 hesitation and puts her leg up, watching dina take a hit.
this is the moment the door of raw, emotional tension opened between them and i just think it’s important

How they mirror each other’s smiles before softly pecking on the lips
Staring into their eyes for so long in so much awe because goddamn they’re just so beautiful and perfect and they can’t possibly begin to fathom just how lucky they are to have them in their lives.
